not to knock anyone who felt sad, but i didnt at all. those characters were so minor, it didnt bother me. i actually felt worse for the survivors than those who were killed

You know, that's the logical way to see it, which makes it all the stranger that I got choked up during this scene. I have no idea exactly why.

The only other scene that choked me up was when the youngling was asking Vader for help, and I knew what he was about to do. That one still gets me.

    ^^

I completely agree. The music gets me choked up every time, plus that first sweeping shot of Ki Adi and the troops, with the falling snow and the swelling voilins...my tear ducts have developed a Pavlovian response to it.

And the music's very high. That gets me sad. (The part on Felicia)

That scene was quite emotional, I was definately saddened by it. So the next time I saw it, I looked around the theater at the rest of the audience--their expressions were priceless...

Attaching yourself to a character should garner a response when something like Order 66 happens. Just ask the Mace Windu kid sitting next to my friend during Mace's final seconds:

MWK: Dad, is Mace gonna be okay?.....Mace?.....Mace?.....MAAAAAACCCCCEEEEE!!!! :_|

It's all in how much you give yourself to the characters in the movie, the emotional bond created during such a film gives you a chance to share grief, tension, and triumph with the characters in the movie.

A friend of mine is a Yoda fanatic, and just one line would get him misty, "Failed I have..."

I was chocked up when Plo Koon was shot down. I mean his death was such a cheap shot. :_|

I got choked up but I didnt cry, the scenes just went by to fast. It was like 20secs for each death scene. It was the music that really made it awful. But after I left the theatre and started thinking I wondered how the heck do powerful jedi get taken out in 20seconds? Jedi purge my butt

Ki adi and Plo Koon were the lucky ones to no what happened, ki adi turned around, and plo looked back. Plo couldnt really do anything, if he was fighting on foot he would of defletted shots, like ki adi did.

I read Labyrinth of Evil, so I always thought of Cody as being a loyal friend to Obi-Wan. I even thought that some of the clones would stand with the Jedi, and that Palpatine would have to massacre a ton of them to get at the Jedi. Guess not.

I wish we could actually see Anakin fighting them in person instead of a hologram. The boy dies first slashed while fighting. Then the girl gets forced gripped while Anakin uses his other hand to fight Cin Drallig. Out of the 3 who would you choose for them to live? Pretty sad to see that.

Except that the clones had to obey any order given by Palpatine, no matter what. Despite the fact that they were able to form personalities and friendships, that did not negate the fact that they were genetically programmed to follow all orders, no matter what.

My point exactly. The clones were "genetcially programmed" to take orders and so they HAD to kill the Jedi. But Anakin was doing this on his own free will [well kind of] so it would of been much more exciting. And just to see someone turn on his own kind is always fun to watch.

Order 66 is one of the best scenes in a Star Wars movie, the music was perfect and for me Ki-Adi's death was the most shocking of all... after all, he was the only non-main Jedi character who speaks in all three prequel films...

Plo Koon Talked too, he said Aye, and had two lines that were cut.

When I saw the Order 66 scene at the midnight showing, my chest got heavy. At all the showings since I cry or tear up. The music is most impressive in the scenes. It doesn't help that the whole sequence starts out with Obi-Wan being shot down. Not to mention everytime Anakin goes into the room with the younglins, I have to shut my eyes because that scene is so disturbing. What makes it worse is when Anakin ignites(sp)his lightsaber and all you hear is the noise of the lightsaber. Oh those poor younglins never had a chance.:_|

Nice to see that these scenes were not lost on you. so many posters lately just seem to want to focus on what is wrong with the movie, instead of embracing the good aspects .
Great post :) , I initially felt a lot more emotion for these scenes than i thought i would. But unfortunatley it seems to fade everytime i see it. that is the downside to watching them too many times , in too short a time . lol
