For me it was like there was a connection to those Jedi. We have known them for 6 years, and to see them brutally murdered made me a little misty eyed. It was a beautiful, horrific, wonderful, unbearable, heart-tugging blend of emotions that to me was done absolutely perfect.

The music was so sad, and Ki Adi just looked so forlorn when he saw what was happening. And Cmdr. Bly may be my fav. cmdr, but could they not stop blasting Aayla even after she was dead? leave the body alone.

To be honest the ONLY time I EVER got choked up in a Star Wars film is at the end of Episode 6 when Vader is watching his son being tortured and then makes the heroic sacrifice to save him.

In all the other films, ive felt pity, sadness, fear, worry, regret, laughter, love and just about every other feeling and emotion designed by the film creators; but I've never been brought to tears except in the scene pointed out above.

Great point. I never thought of it that way before, but I'm probably going to start thinking about the clones' point of view next time I watch RotS. The shocked expression on Ki-Adi-Mundi's face is heartwrenching enough, and it may have been intentional in this case that Lucas didn't let us see the clones' faces.

I don't understand why so many Jedi didn't sense the danger in advance, though. Are the clonetroopers somehow able to keep themselves more closed to the Jedi than most people? Or is order 66 so deeply imbedded in their programming that it wouldn't even stir up any emotion Jedi would sense?

The only thing that choked me up about this montage was the fact the Jedi were getting killed by wimpy clonetroopers, instead of Anakin. Suited Vader would have been even better than Anakin, but I guess that's fanboyish.

I have to admit I was shocked to see Anakin active his saber next to the Younglings!

I would never in all my life think Anakin/Vader was a child killer!

And the song playing at the time of the Jedi killing did bring a tear to my eyes.

I think the Immolation scene music makes it harder to watch,it just feels so tragic.

And Yea,I do get that sense from Ki,almost like ''I knew something was up.'' Because its not everyday you get a free clone army, strings are always attached.

I usually start to tear up when they shoot down Aayla, just because she would've been such a great character, and she never even gets a line in the movie, but is killed off anywaise.

That was the saddest scene for me. Sadder than Anakin burning.

It really gets me in the stomach , when they shoot down Obi and tht music comes on and it's all like snowy and Ki-Adi calls for help and they take him out. Seeing the 66 scenes just get me, it's really sad .

It's great that's done with music and emotion only. Seeing those innocent Jedi, in all their glory, killed off by a scheme.... Sad indeed.

Well the novel describes this a little. It talks about how the Jedi could sense the impending betrayal from the clones because there was no malicious intent to sense. They weren't thinking about betraying the Jedi, and they didn't have any sinister thoughts regarding this order or the Jedi themselves. They just received an order and executed it, and there was nothing more to it than that.

The other way they may have sensed danger, besides sensing the intentions of the clones, would be to get a premonition of impending danger from the Force, as in "he can see things before they happen". But as Yoda said in AOTC, the dark side was clouding the future and making it difficult for them to see forward in time. I would guess that this clouding would also affect their ability to sense future danger, especially since Sidious is behind both the betrayal and the clouding.

Anyway, that's my take on the answer to your question.

It didn't choke me up the way leia on alderaan did, but it was very, very well done. I love that we finally see glimpses of the snow troopers and the speeder bike troopers. And that shot of the trooper's feet when they are lining up to kill him was brilliant and incredibly realistic.

Yes, it got me choked up.

I didn't actually sob/cry (Mainly because the lights were on for some reason in my theater.) but I got choked up during that scene when:

The music swells and Ki-Ad-Mundi stares at his clone troopers with that look of betrayal.

When Yoda drops his grimer stick and clutches his chest.

And when that youngling said, "Master Skywalker there are too many of them. What are we going to do?"

    :(

Good call. That really makes me wish we could have seen the looks on their faces beneath their helmets: were they conflicted, confused, caught-in-the-moment, remorseful? Guess it's left to our imagination.

I really felt bad for Ki-Adi too, when he charged and the clones stopped in their tracks....

I loved the scene, thought it was great catharsis. It was just so damn tragic, and it made me really think about the whole wretched situation. The whole war is despicable--factory-produced meat destroying and being destroyed by machines, and in the middle of it were the Jedi, emotionally castrated individuals denied real lives... It's just so useless and wasteful... When I watched the Jedi die, I felt sadder than anything else that they never really loved, never really lived, having to deny or hide any real impulse or desire or emotion that is elementary to life. Some might argue with me on this, but at that moment, I saw how horrible the war was--the soldiers, the droids, the Jedi Order, the Republic, the Sith, none of it was admirable.

I would've liked Lucas to milk the montage a bit more, going along with my ida above... I'm sure there were Jedi that were in love other than Anakin, and it would've been heart-wrenching to maybe see two Jedi, not caught off guard by the clones, but defending themselves... One might fall, and the other finish the rest off, only to kneel by their fallen lover and await their own demise...

No, I wasn't upset. I was way too caught up in what was happening to Anakin. I was just thinking continously, "Oh my gosh, he's finally going evil." And then after the movie, I was still not upset.

I wasn't that choked up because it happened really quick. It should have been longer. And beside it was expected.

My sister and I were sitting next to eachother at the movie. She grabbed my hand and we both cried when order 66 went out. That was a VERY harsh scene, especially if you're a big fan of the EU like I am. Watching all those character you've come to like get killed like that, even if you know it's going to happen, is pretty emotional. We also cried when Anakin was burning. It's very hard to see someone you love destroy their lives like that, we could empathize with Obi Wan.
