Title: The Frozen Wastes
Timeframe: ESB
Focus: Luke, Crossover

Luke could feel his strength draining as he pulled himself across the snow. He was barely conscious when he saw the shadowy form.

"Bob, get over here!"

A second shape joined the first. "Hey, Doug, what's he doing there, eh?"

"I think he's dead, eh," Doug said.

"No, you hoser. His eyes are still moving."

"You're the hoser, eh! That's electronical impulses or something," Doug explained. "Like when you ran over that dog with your snowmobile, and its leg kept twitching, eh?"

"Oh yeah, that reminds me, eh!" Bob said. "We gotta get home. They got curling on TV tonight."

I like the mix of drama, angst and humor in all the different contibutions, they're great.

Drabbo, thanks for sparking my muse! :D [:D]

Waiting in the Wings

From just beyond the gossamer veil that was the Force, Qui-Gon Jinn watched patiently. His former padawan fought the most wretched being in all the galaxy. This evil man, once a boy, he himself had placed in Obi-Wan?s care.

Ever heedful of the Force, Qui-Gon had unquestioningly championed the boy, even in his dying. Now long years had past and his own apprentice was standing at the door of his old existence about to enter a new one.

Waiting to accompany him through the threshold, he smiled as Obi-Wan felt the prompt of the Force and raised his lightsaber high.

I'll comment on the others later, but Leona that was beautiful! I love to imagine Qui-Gon just waiting to greet Obi-Wan! [face_love]

Title: Lives Lost
Timeframe: post-AOTC
Characters: Anakin, Padmé

"Anakin," Padmé mumbled rolling over. "Ani." She shifted again. "Oh, Ani.?

Anakin closed his eyes against the pain. He had to do this. It was his destiny. She was only his past; the light; his weakness. He nudged her with the force, pushing her into a deeper slumber, quieting her calls.

She rolled over one last time and he watched her face. She was serene, his beautiful wife, but she was no longer his to have. She was the past that he longer embraced, the love that will be forgotten.

Anakin turned and walked away from her. To his destiny.

Title: Reflections
Timeframe: ESB, before the Battle of Hoth
Character(s): Tycho, with a very little bit of Wedge

He stared out at the desolate, frozen world which mirrored how his heart felt. The pain at losing and leaving everything he had held dear still tore him apart. Yet, it did not consume him.

He was surrounded instead by warmth and even love. He was accepted, welcomed. It was so different from what he was accustomed to.

Lost in his musings, he didn?t hear the person calling him until a hand settled on his shoulder. Looking into the eyes of a friend, he felt the knot of anguish around his heart loosen slightly. He smiled.

?Hey, Wedge,? Tycho said.

Title: I Know
Author: Jadeling
Characters: Vader POV mostly
Timeline: Sometime during ROTJ
Notes: I don't know what is up with me today. Must be all of the little plot bunnies that wanted out of my brain. What if Vader knew about Mara Jade's mission, and he was going to do something about it. Enjoy.

I Know

I know what he planned.

He wanted my son dead.
How dare he! He will pay.
I know how to make him pay.

I wait as she enters the corridor.
Mara Jade, she tried; she failed.
She will die instead.
My finger goes over the switch; it will be easy; painless.

"How did grandfather die, Mommy?" A child?
"I wasn?t there, sweetie." Jade's voice?
"Daddy?"
"He died a good man, Ben," My son's voice?

I turn; I am alone.
A vision?
Jade and my son?

How ironic.

How poetic.

I smile.
I walk away.
I know.

And Palpatine never will.

Okay, I seem to be on a roll... must thank Drabbo again for starting this. :)

Title: Best Laid Plans
Characters: Obi-Wan and Anakin
Time: Pre-AOTC

?I wish Qui-Gon was my master!?

The words sting like a vibro-shiv and it was all I could do to not respond in kind. Did Anakin think I?d never felt the same way, almost every waking day? Didn?t he see how difficult this was for me, how unsure I am of myself? It?s not that I didn?t want to be his master, only that I want the best for him and often feel that it?s not me.

Still, I proceed, reaching out to the young man, in the way I imagine Qui-Gon would have and hope I can be enough.

Great job everybody! :D

And especially liked those last couple. :)

Very nice introspection into the unknown Jadeling and really liked the thought of Anakin wanting Qui-Gon as a master Leona.

I really love these responses.

Thanks so much Drabbo for starting these up again. :D

Title: Last Act
Author: Jadeling
Character: Palpatine's POV
Timeline: RotJ
Notes: Companion to I Knowwhich is a bit higher on this page, I asked myself, what if Palpatine did know about Vader's vision? Why he specifically chose Mara for his last command. Italics are for inner dialogue, and ** means telepathy.

Last Act

It can't be.
Impossible.
I won't allow it. This abomination will never take place.

Skywalker and Jade.

Is this why you have betrayed me, Vader?
You've betrayed me over a vision?

I know now that I can't make you suffer.
But I can still be sure that he will.
I know the perfect person to make sure of it.

*Mara Jade!*

*Master?*

*YOU WILL KILL LUKE SKYWALKER!*
Palpatine commanded as he plummeted down the shaft of the second Death Star. Even with death eminent, Palpatine?s mouth formed a cruel grin.

Yes, Your sacrifice was over nothing, Vader.

?Nothing,? he hissed

TITLE: The River
TIMEFRAME: Saga: Prequel (betwen TPM and AotC)
CONTENT WARNING: child abuse
SUMMARY: How do Jedi deal with the darker world of reality?
AUTHOR'S NOTES: Inspired by Missy Higgins' haunting tune.

Obi-Wan stood numbly, his leggings knee-deep in the water. Anakin turned away, wretching at the sight that welcomed them this cold winter morning on Yarlu.

It wasn't supposed to happen like this, Obi-Wan's soul shivered.

The Jedi were keepers of peace and justice. With such noble responsibilities, how could one face this?

She was merely a girl. Her eyes had pleaded with him. Take me with you, they'd said. The bruise on her shoulder should have been enough to obey.

With a sigh, Obi-Wan realized the Order could not have prepared him for this. The river would keep this friend.

This is addictive!

Okay, this is a spoiler, but it's also a drabble, so it's not like it reveals a lot...or does it?

TITLE: Show Me the Way
SPOILERS: RotS
TIMEFRAME: Saga: inter-triogy
SUMMARY: Obi-Wan prepares for re-learning the Jedi ways.

Waken, Padawan, my master's voice calls me from slumber. I waken in confusion. The first sun seems to rise from the wrong side of the world. I realize that it is dusk. Have I slept all day? Qui-Gon's lessons are taking their toll on me, confusing my sense of time and space. Is something coming to pass, soon? Something for which I must be ready?

My master's voice does not answer my pondering questions. Lowering myself into a meditative position, I take myself to the Moment of Now to fully realize my master's presence in readiness for my next lesson.

All Hail our divine avatar of glory, the Phoenix Bobbianicusia!

The Secret

As soon as Kenobi was out of sight the two grabbed for each other, locking lips and pressing their bodies passionately together. After a few moments, Padme abruptly pulled away.

?I?m sorry,?Anakin pleaded. ?Too strong??

She shook her head.

?It?s not the lighting, is it? Or too cold??

She shook her head again.

?Maybe our Force signatures are merging. Are you feeling impressions from my previous mission ? the man I killed??

Again, no.

?The Tuskens I killed? My desire to kill my master and destroy the Jedi??

?Anakin,? she said, somewhat amused, ?you could really use a breath mint.?

Okay, this is a double challenge entry! First, there is Drabbo's wonderful drabble challenge, and then the What's in a Name? Challenge. We had to used titles that were not chosen. So I have combined both!

I Hate it When that Happens

A blond in camouflage and a jello pit. Bad enough, I assure you. But then it went from bad to worse. First, she kissed my Wookie. I hate it when that happens. Next thing I know, I was slipping on a fruit peel. Her deceptive smiled mocked me. But I know I have what it takes to be a knight! So from the depths of my humiliation, I let it pass. There was no going home; I was far too tipsy for that! My Master found me, saved me, and then he smiled. A simple twist and all is well.

Honor?s Wrath

Lest we forget, there is something worth fighting for. Somewhere between the stars and the sea are the feelings for those we once called lovers. And it is for them, and all those who take up the sword, that we fight. From the depths of the heart we give homage to love and give our sacrifice to honor?s wrath. Let us offer up now a hymn before dark, a song before the shadows. We shall fight this day, no going home until victory is ours. Our prayer shall be to let it pass, our words and our sacrifice not forgotten.

Okay, these don't make much sense, but I took it one step further and tried to use as many discarded titles as possible in the body of the drabble! :p

From the same challenge...

Only in a Smile

I can't figure Her Highnessness out.

She has this unbelievable determination and dedication, but I always thought that you needed to be either a mortal or a person with a heart to have that.

Instead, she's so frosty, she might as well be part of the Hoth terrain.

I see her as untouchable and unbreakable. Sometimes, I think she?s untouchable only because she is something like a goddess, too exalted to reach.

And then, she?ll reach down to me with a flash of teeth and give me divine purpose.

Only in a smile have I found a reason to love.

Alrighty then, this is a drabble and a style parody. :D

The Last Chapter of TPM
First Grade Edition:

See Obi-Wan.
Run Obi-Wan run.
The red and black faced man is bad.

The bad man is mean.
He is fighting with a big, long stick.
His stick is red.

Qui-Gon fights the bad man.
His green stick is bright and shiny.
He is old and getting tired.

The bad man pokes Qui-Gon.
Qui-Gon falls down.
He is hurt.

Obi-Wan fights the bad man.
His stick is blue and pretty.
He breaks the red stick.

Obi-Wan falls down too.
See Obi-Wan jump.
Up Obi-Wan jumps.

Now the bad man falls.
He does not jump up.
He falls a long way.

FYI: This is my 1000th post!

Blue: A Drabble

As trivial as it seemed in that particular moment, it was the only question for which he lacked an answer. To one lost little boy finally trying to find his way back home, the Force had provided every answer possible... except one.

Blue.

Strange. When dawn finally broke after two decades of darkest night and allowed him to see the eyes of his salvation, he half-expected them to be the brown eyes of an angel.

After all, every other bit of good in him came from her.

Still... it was good to know before the end.

"Now, go... my son."
