Not at the moment. But, knowing Lucas, that may change eventually.

Both Ewok movies do indeed take place *before* ROTJ. The reason for this is that Wicket is obviously just a kid in the Ewok movies (you can kind of see him mature over the course of the films) whereas he's a young warrior in ROTJ. It also doesn't have poor Noa stranded on Endor while the Rebels are there. He got off before they came.

Wicket isn't able to speak to Leia in ROTJ for two reasons: one, because the Towanis spoke a different dialect or language then Leia, and two, he'd forgotten most of it by the time ROTJ takes place, which is probably why he didn't try to communicate with her this way.

So how do you explain the problem of the Ewoks wanting to eat Han and Luke? If the ewoks had already had good interactions with humans (in the Ewok movies), why would they suddenly turn around and try to eat a couple of new humans that they stumble across? If I was an ewok, after having been through "The Battle for Endor" ewok movie, I would welcome any new humans that I came across. Noah was a human and he, along with Cindle, saved the ewoks bacon from the marauders.

One other problem is that Wicket looks smaller in ROTJ than he does in the Ewok movies. IMO that makes him look younger.

As far as Noah is concerned, he could have been too far away from the battle to get there in time to take part in it. Or he could have seen that it was imperials that were on Endor and he may have avoided making his presense known because he knew he would be captured and probably killed.

I know the official site says that the Ewok movies take place before ROTJ but in my mind it makes more sense that they take place after it. I will probably stick to this opinion for my own satisfaction.

So how do you explain the problem of the Ewoks wanting to eat Han and Luke?

I can think of a couple reasons. One, they thought Threepio was a god remember? They wanted to have a feast for him and a couple big aliens seems to work out just fine. They may have even assumed that Threepio gave them to the Ewoks for that exact purpose. Two, Han was being kinda threatening to them. They obviously don't want to eat all humans as they let Leia come into their village. Remember the Empire had been on the moon for a while and they may have changed the Ewok's opinion of humans sometime prior to Han and company getting caught in the net. Heck, the net may even have been placed there to catch humans!

The point about Leia is a good one. In addition, the reference books point to Logray as the one responsible for having human feasts--the other Ewoks simply followed his direction. Logray is getting a bit senile by this point in time. Also, I'd say that as far as the Ewoks are concerned, all humans are *not* created equal. That is to say, would an Ewok really be able to recognize a human as such? It sounds silly, but would an untrained human be able to tell the difference between an Ewok and a Drall?

I may have NO choice but to buy those.
Can't we petition Blockbuster to rent this?

It's only just occurred to me, but how much does Blockbuster charge for rentals in the US?
Here in the UK, the rental of new DVDs is £3.99, which works out at around $7.76. I can't imagine it's that much over there but if it is then you'd be better off buying them anyways for $10 each.

Even getting them via CD-Wow/Amazon (cos they're not out in the UK yet) they were only £8.50 each (about $16) which is still cheaper than buying new releases in the shops here.

As a side note, by the time movies come to blockbuster, I've usually either seen them at the cinema or got them on DVD anyways. Which is why my membership has lapsed for the 3rd time :p

Movie rentals where I live (Northern California) cost about $3 American. I don't normally go to Blockbuster however. I use a small independent place near my house.

BTW, is there any indication of the release of the Clone Wars, Droids and Ewoks DVDs here in Europe, specifically the UK? I had a look around on 'tinternet but couldn't find anything.

No word yet, but I'm doubting ewoks/droids will get released here, but I have hope for Clone Wars:

Look at StarWarsShop.com, they will only ship the ewoks and droids DVDs to the US and Canada, but the Clone Wars DVD will "ship worldwide". Just speculation, but maybe the reason it will ship worldwide is because we will be seeing a R2 release.

And, if not, Argos have a multi-region player for £25 that I'll pick up.

You sure Guffster? I went through the checkout (without actually submitting it) to see what the international shipping was for the triple pack; it calcualated 'international expedited shipping' as $24 or so.

I got em off of Amazon (the cartoons) anyways; better deal. :D

Ewoks and Droids Set of Three DVDs

    Our Price: $39.99

    Ships to U.S. and Canada

I wasn't planning on getting them there anyway (still holding out on an R2 release. If there isn't any word on a Region 2 release by the time Clone Wars comes out, I'll order all 4 DVDs from Amazon (provided there isn't an R2 release of Clone Wars, which I think there will be).

read the ROTJ novel. everyone. get educated at least. wicket gives a speech in there and he speaks of why they expected to hear from the golden robot. clearly, these movies take place before ROTJ. when wicket met leia he had forgotten some of the language he had picked up by cindel, but notice how quicky he learns again from leia.

    >>It would seem odd for Wicket to learn to speak basic yet forget it when Princess Leia shows up.<<

Less odd than Wicket being able to understand basic from Leia yet not be able to understand Cindel.

Seems to be the most realistic solution to the matter. Wicket learns the language for a brief period of time, then doesn't use it for awhile, and then encounters Leia but he can't remember enough of basic to speak it, but remembers just enough to be able to understand some of what Leia is saying to him.

    >>why would they suddenly turn around and try to eat a couple of new humans that they stumble across?<<

My preferred theory is the Imperial scouts didn't leave too good of an impression on the locals...

Having now seen the films again it does make more sense for the Ewoks films to be pre-Return of the Jedi. Wicket's appearance is different from when we seen him in RotJ, he's still a kid in these films.

I did notice a few shots in The Battle For Endor that were filmed for RotJ. You can tell by Wicket's eyes. In RotJ they are very dark while in the Ewok films they are reddish brown.

Oh goody, maybe they'll make a saturday morning cartoon with Jar jar Binks and Ewoks adventures and just make a mockery out of the Star Wars Saga.

I just ordered the two Ewok movies off CD-WOW for £5.99 (they were £6.99, but I had a voucher). I live in the UK and I can't remember very much about these films, so I'm looking forward to them :D

I was going to order Droids but seeing as it's not the entire Series I think I'll skip it.
