Sorry, I just saw your question, Mate!

It's never been very clear, really, which rank the orange pauldron is supposed to represent, specifically. But I have seen it ascribed to both Captain, and (more often) Commander.

Sergeant is actually supposed to be the white pauldron:

And though this example attributes the black pauldron to "enlisted" Stormtroopers, I've actually seen it most often referred to as "Corporal."

But with the new canon? I don't know. [face_dunno]

Per ANH, we do know for sure that orange, white and black are "in," and that orange is the highest rank. Happily, Rebels has made use of the orange pauldron, as well (and not only for "Sandtroopers," but everyday Stormies, too). :)

Same here, but it was 1989 and the series was on TV here.

I found this Droids concept art on ebay and was surprised by the strong Rebels feel in this scene. I'm pretty sure this was concept art for the second episode, since Thall and Jord were waiting in line in a spaceport, but I don't think any of the Imperial propaganda posters made it into the final cartoon. The spaceport looks amazing, but wow, those posters! I think this is the first time I have ever seen Darth Vader in anything Droids related, apart from the Star/Marvel comic series. Too bad it didn't make it into the show. I don't own this sketch, so I hope it's okay to share.

Personally, I'd recommend starting with Droids. I watched every episode of that series, but Ewoks just never hooked me.

All of Droids and the first season of Ewoks. Given that the geek communities are known for their pseudo-masculine and pseudo-mature approach to things, don't let these people make you believe that only one of these cartoons is good - they BOTH are good. :)

This is beautiful! You're absolutely right: there is a very strong Rebels vibe here. Gosh, it just really, really strengthens my desire to see Thall Joben and Kea Moll show up in Rebels.

Thanks so much for sharing! :)

An update I have finished droids plus the hour special and I loved it great fun and laughs.

Is it worth watching Ewoks because other then the Ewoks movie and the Christmas special I have watched all the shows.

The Ewoks cartoon is somewhat more difficult to get into, I think, than Droids. But if I were you, I would give it a go.
But be prepared for the fact that it isn't very Star Wars at all!
The Ewok movies, well the first one isn't great but it has its moments. The second one, in my opinion at least, IS great!

And the Holiday Special is just delightfully fun for the whole family (that is, if your family is seriously disturbed and enjoys watching Chewie's dad looking at softporn in front of Chewie's wife and five-year-old kid [face_hypnotized] )!

So I noticed this with droids it is stated several times that you can travel out of the GFFA galaxy which I found was odd.

Do it, but just a heads-up if you're not aware of it - they are not complete collections of the shows.

Re: the Droids & Ewoks 2004 DVD's - yes, they're fairly sub-par; the theme music of both shows has been removed (and possibly replaced with something else, can't quite remember), and the stories are edited together from a 2-3?! episodes in the series.

That being said, the picture quality on both of these DVD's is better than anything you'll find otherwise...

Check out some of the classic Star Wars television character cameos on this Star Wars Celebration Anaheim poster

See in the bottom right corner, there are three Droids veterans, Jord Dusat and Thall Joben, along with Mungo Baobab. Others have been sharing the image around the forum, and it is so chock full of cameos and characters I thought I'd share the Droids-related appearances here.

Very cool piece of art! That blue droid hovering above Chopper is also from Droids. I would love to see some characters, speeders, ships or really anything from Droids show up in Rebels, even if it's a brief background cameo.

Mungo! :) :) Thanks for this!

Now they need to stick Kea Moll somewhere. And the Ewok characters, of course.

Great poster! Thanks for the post. The little guy in the lower right-hand corner (w/the pointy ears, bald head, and goggles) is taken from a Ralph McQuarrie SW Tattoine painting from the '90's...

Screed is canon , so am sure Filoni will implement such characters as time goes on.

    He is?

I'd love to see some Droids references in Rebels. What do you think Mungo Baobab is up to these days?

Yeah, he's mentioned in Star Wars: Tarkin. I rather liked Xizor and Dash and SOTE in general. Would be interesting if or when Xizor and Thrawn make an appearance on the show.
