Gonna throw my litrejons in :p
    Paul: Not a clue.
Leto: Liam 'I mentor and die in EVERYTHING these days ' Neeson
Jessica: Lena's a good choice, but to throw a different curveball, how about Nicole Kidman?
Gurney: Ron Perlman springs to mind
Duncan: Viggo's got that nobility about him, he'll do.
Stilgar: Oded Fehr. Okay, he's reprising his role from the Mummy, but I don't care, he's that freaking awesome. :p
Baron: Ian Mcniece. He IS the Baron.
Feyd: Robert Pattison. Just to give the Twilight fangirls fits. :p
    Beast Rabban: Not sure.
    Piter: Steve Buscemi
Chani? Hm...unknown, I think. Just for giggles: Summer Glau. :p
Irulan: Meh, I guess Johanson. :p
    Shaddam: Hopkins
Reverend Mother: Jessica Lange in makeup. Sigourney in Makeup would also work.

Dune can not be done in one movie it needs to be split into three parts. They are going to muck everything up.

They need to cast Jason Isaacs as Stilgar.

Apparently, Josh Zetumer has finished his first draft, and it's about to get green-lighted. I want more details.

No way in hell this is going to get finished by 2010.

Agreed. They haven't even begun casting yet.

So apparently this Robert Pattinson guy is being linked to the new Dune movie. Doesn't seem like a Paul to me. But maybe a Feyd...

I know someone has already made this comment (first post, I think), but my feelings on this can be summed up thusly:

    The spice must flow!

Hell yes (if they do it right)!

As much as love Dune, it's probably time to put the movies to bed unless you plan on doing a big budget trilogy for the first three movies.

With that being said, I'd love to see someone tackle GEoD, HoD and Chapterhouse.

    My sentiments exactly.

The problem with GEoD though is all the commentary by Leto II. I imagine that would get pretty boring pretty quick for a lot of people. There's plenty of action in the second trilogy though. There are several great characters to work with as well.

That's too bad. I'd love to see another take on the Dune universe.

So apparently this isn't being directed by Peter Berg, anymore. Who would you like to see take over the project?

Difficult. There are very few directors who I would have confidence in to pull off something this epic.

    Steven Spielberg

    Ridley Scott

    Martin Campbell

    James Cameron

None of those are perfect, though. I wouldn't mind seeing what Kathryn Bigelow could do with material like this - she's never done an epic, but I think she could handle it.

I'd be stunned if they did this at this point.

If not Ridley Scott, how about someone relatively untried, like James McTeigue?
Probably too much picture for him, but who knows?

I've only seen District 9 and the bigger name directors have a tendency to forment hubris, so I don't see why not. The only problem is that Dune isn't really an action movie until the very end.

And I know people didn't like it, but I actually enjoy the David Lynch version and couldn't take the miniseries seriously because it was just too much bluescreen for me.

As long as they take their time to make it right, I can wait a good while for it to come out. Hopefully they'll have proper ornithopters in this.

I agree with you completely. Also, Harkonnen who act like Harkonnen,
Atreides who act like Atreides, etc., etc., .....

The casting is what has me really worried.

As long as they don't rush it and turn it into a hot mess, they should take their time on it.

Bluescreen??? The sad thing about the miniseries (the first one) is that they couldn't evne afford ye olde bluescreen, the background was just pianting!
