Because the ending basically specifically referenced two main parts of Luke being a bad-ass in Dark Empire: the opening scene (Luke facing down AT-ATs and Star Destroyers by himself) and the Doppelganger projections.

    EDIT:
It was, but he still wouldn't have been on janitorial necessarily even before being out of Basic Training if that wasn't his MOS, per se. He was still a green trooper, but it would make sense to still be a grunt with a specialty in urban planning.

    Cool find.
    That was a cool comic.
    But TLJ was even cooler.

Oh, I must've missed this earlier.

Okay, I'll admit something now. I've only seen it once. I'm just joshing you guys. :p

In my 1st post here, I was writing a post jokingly teasing other posters who really have gone back and watched the film multiple times to get to the point that they really like it and those who have very strong mixed feelings about it.

I thought that everyone would see that I was just making a joke post, but no one did, so I decided to take the joke a step further, but everyone still thought I was serious, so then I took it another step further, but everyone thought I was serious and (maybe slightly crazy), so then I went totally nuts with it in my last post about my split brain viewing experience. (So maybe I am a little crazy for taking a joke so ridiculously far, but hopefully that's the extent of my craziness!:p)

So, no, I don't have a split brain. I'm just into neurology, psychology, and brain science. However, what I said about split brain patients is true. In fact, there are some people with the split brain condition who believe in god with one half of their brain and don't believe with the other half. The studies of these people are really interesting.

Anyway, after my one viewing of TLJ, I can say I thought it was pretty good, but not great. I thought the Canto Bight and the space chase storylines were pretty weak. The heart of the story, for me, was what happened with Luke, Rey, Kylo, and Snoke. That's the only part I found really compelling. I also thought it was more original and creative than TFA.

The stuff with Luke & Rey & Kylo was great.

I guess it's a good thing that their story is the last to be resolved now really.

But, is that enough to carry Episode IX?
I'm not sure what the others will do. Or where they can go with them now.

I know I made that first part up, but I like this story. And I'm sticking with it. I've already written episode IX in my head, and when it fails to work out that way my bitterness will be complete. But I'm really behind the 8 ball here. So many fans seem to have already completed their bitterness ahead of schedule.

Started listening to the Kevin Smith review and he referred to some of Rian Johnson did as "**** you JJ" scenes, so it'll be neat to see in Episode IX the "**** you Rian" scenes for example the death Rose, broom kid, all the porgs, crystal foxes and space horses.

It's really unfair to compare her to the best character in the saga.

I’m sure Bowen could regale us with tales of his twentieth viewing when he fended off an old lady in a wheelchair to get that last ticket to a format he hasn’t seen it in yet.

nope, only seen it once. read my post above.

Well, I was trying my very hardest to break Poe's Law. I thought the split brain thing would do it.

I'm sure some here were getting skeptical but were extra cautious as they afraid to offend someone who might have a brain abnormality.:p

Dark Empire was bad in ways that the prequels didn't even manage.

I took out my ruler to measure how much bigger the 17th new Star Dreadnought I spotted was than the Executor but then I realized it was a coffee stain. It's still 34.90385 km long and one of its turbolasers has the energy output of a neutron star.

I think ghost Yoda & Obi-Wan have chosen her. They've been guiding her & helping her along.

"These are your first steps" - Obi-Wan, to Rey in TFA.
"Lose Rey we must not" - Yoda, about Rey in TLJ.

Taking the ST, so far, as a sort of loose but-not-great adaptation of Dark Empire I & II has probably actually helped me enjoy it more than i probably would otherwise. And it helps bring to conclusion the longstanding "DE was, in broad strokes, most similar to the original Sequel Trilogy outline, which is why Lucas apparently liked it so much" observations that ROTS buoyed in between then and now.

I used to catch the bigger releases 3-4 times, but I've had to cut back the past year or so as I pay off some tuition loans. Thankfully fewer blockbusters over the past year or so have been worth seeing more than once so I picked a good time to be temporarily financially responsible. ;)

And the only film I've ever seen in theaters more than 10 times was TPM- and that was mostly by accident, combining the never-happening-again "we fear SW" month-long release gap between TPM and Austin Powers 2 and subsequent special rereleases (the charity rerelease, the first expansions into digitally projected theaters, the 3D rerelease, etc).

Thus far I've seen TLJ twice (once in regular 3D, another in 3D IMAX) and will see it at least one more time while it's in theaters and there's good audiences still hitting it. I may not do a fourth (even though I really rather like the movie), if only because there are a high number of prestige films I'm interested in seeing this year, so I'd rather start saving my money towards those...

But Dark Empire is terrible, TFA and TLJ are not...
