My theory in Season 1 was that Dedra was Cassian’s long-lost sister.

Is it still possible? She could have just dyed her hair.

It's a respectable point of view.
I believe that she enjoys the reliability that the Empire offers to those who play by the rules.
To me, she surely likes the comfort of efficiency, in the same way some people enjoy that feeling you have when you clean the room very well and everything is very tidy and in order. Though I do not see indications suggesting she loves the Empire in ways other than that, even though it is totally possible that being an orphan made her appreciate the nurturing aspect of the organization, and that she satisfied a certain seek for belonging through the institution.

It's always a question of levels of devotion. Remember that Miggs Mayfeld signed up and was happy to fight for the Empire until he realised that he wasn't actually valued and was just a tool to be discarded. His comrades were expendable and so were the civilians they were told the Empire was meant to protect, so he walked away.

Dedra might believe whatever she's been told the Empire stands for, but at a certain point I think something will happen that will make her question if that was all a lie.

    Is she a believer?

I think she's more cynical than that.

I think she sees the Empire as the most efficient path to her own power.

Whatever else she may think or feel about anything or anyone else...she is maximizing her role to accumulate power to herself.

Perhaps to compensate for personal feelings of weakness or inadequacy? Perhaps for wealth/security? Perhaps to terrorized those she loathes? I think that is yet to be revealed.

But seeing her as a zealot? I don't buy it.
I think she never would be anywhere near Syril if that were the case.
He would not measure up to what the Empire believes in.

I still think ultimately he's a pawn for her to use. But it's not for the Empire's ends.

    It's for her own.

Well I don’t think she understands love, which would be a result of her being brought up completely in a fascist institution. So it’s not parental love as we understand it, but more akin to loyalty to your caregiver. Sort of how a sociopath may not feel love, but understands the concept of helping a parent later in life because they helped you.

This is apparent in her new relationship. It’s just another situation for her to control, understand and manipulate. There’s not real affection towards her boyfriend. Interestingly she doesn’t display the relishing in sadism of some other Imperials - for her it’s a job to simply maintain a system she believes saved her and therefore must be best for everyone, and the torture and murder are just casualties along the way.

I’ll be interested to know whether there are some underlying reasons she doesn’t feel comfortable with what’s going to happen to the Ghorm, and whether that it’s going from the putting down of insurrection to displacing and killing peoples because the Empire needs the rock beneath their feet. For her it may awaken an understanding of the maliciousness of the Empire, and how it’s not just about keeping order.

Random secret family connections (and if she just writes her parents as "criminals" but the real story is more complicated) does still work in Star Wars, if maybe pushing it tonally for Andor

I do wonder if the "long-lost" sister plot is going to fall by the wayside.

Clearly Cassian is involved in much bigger events now.

I'm not saying he's forgotten his quest.

I'm wondering with the number of episodes left, is it a story that will be left to some other medium to tell.

She recommended a cynical strategy when asked, so I rather think she just wanted to keep working on Axis, and this was the main reason she was not happy.

So, what will likely happen in future episodes is that she'll manage, once again, to tie Axis to the case that was commissioned to her and get to work on Axis again.

If it is Dedra, as long as the reveal itself works, it would be earned. It would show how they're mirrors of each other, and make them question how different they'd be if they had swapped places on Kenari, with Kassa/Cassian raised by the Empire and Kerri/Dedra raised by Maarva Andor on Ferrix. It also strengthens the comparison someone else made to Cassian and Dedra having a Javert versus Jean Valjean (Les Miserables) dynamic.

Sometimes when you're not searching, what you were looking for finds you.

I stayed away from spoilers but a few comments and headlines poked through and for a moment I thought...

Mon Mothma was sexually assaulted while dancing.

Well, turns out her scenes were her losing control. And the assault was defeated. Cool.

I was entertained by the dumbasses Cassian had to deal with but was glad he escaped them after ep2 as that could have gotten old real quick.

Yes, only though because of budget reasons, work & Laker playoff games. :p Ideally, I'd love to go to a screening.

Saw it yesterday, and I still get so emotional at the end, so tonight I need to see ROTJ and to know everything ends well (and then ignore the ST)

Fun observation of the quite small audience. Men in theri 30s talking about when they watched it when they were 10, and teenage girls quoting most of the film. Everybody laughed at "Hello there".

I just rewatched the PT (because the kid wanted to), and it was much more enjoyable than it was when all of us here were invested. It's flawed, messy, and singular, but it was a bold vision never attained since.
