    **UPDATE**
    http://www.afi.com/silver/new/nowplaying/2010/v7i3/totallyawesome4.aspx#empir
    Scroll down for more info.

So, I came across this interesting tibbit today. You can read the full article here.

There will be new toys, a convention and special screenings hosted around the world.
So, anyone else got any more info on when they're supposed to start screenings? I'm totally game for trying to go to one of these if they're in the area.

I'd pull my Snowtrooper armor out for a special screening...

And I'll bring my Tylenol in case they show it in 3D. :)

I checked StarWars.com and the national and local 501st boards, and I don't see any buzz yet about any special Empire screenings, either locally or elsewhere. It's kind of surprising, since we're less than 2 months out from the anniversary date and the USA Today article so far seems to be the only mention of screenings. I'll keep an eye out for any publicity.

They've announced screenings in Chicago and Los Angeles, but nothing local.

Is that via the 501st grapevine, or is there an official site somewhere?

Yeah, I looked there before, and I couldn't find anything. What section were you looking in?

They're having a screening at 8pm on Saturday, July 3. I've already got my ticket, if anyone else is going, let me know and we can either carpool or meet there.

I truly hope the armor and costumes stay at home. The AFI Silver really isn't the place for that sort of thing.

Meh, whenever a Stormtrooper sits in front of me, I just put a velcro strap around his helmet and use it to hold my drink.

Given that about 50% of the active membership of Galactic Senate is also in the 501st, and that close to 100% has Star Wars armor, a bit of diplomacy in your posts might be a good idea. We are "the armor and costumes" to a large extent, and we tend to like "that sort of thing." It's fine if you don't like it yourself, but you're not likely to find a very receptive audience for comments on this board knocking "the armor and costumes."

We're still glad to chat with you about Star Wars; but I just thought you should understand who you're talking to.

Footie pajamas count as armor, right?
