What do you mean back?... It never left? (At least that is the case in Australia)

In the US, Legacy left D+ a couple months ago due to previously existing licensing deals.

Not sure what service it went to but after that term is up (however long it is), the film will return to D+.

All of the streaming services have issues like this with some titles since these deals were all struck years before things like D+, P+ and HBOM were a thing.

It would be nice, though, if they kept placeholder listings on the service telling you when they’d return (like when D+ launched and had placeholders for Last Jedi & Solo, telling you when they’d be leaving Netflix and be on D+).

But will the aspect ratio be correct this time? The whole movie was haphazardly cropped when it was on D+ as a way to draw attention away from the changing frame size in the IMAX shots (not sure why they'd even want to do that in the first place, since the Blu-ray retains the IMAX framing where appropriate).

Ah well, I still have my Blu-ray at least, regardless of how it goes up. But this is the kind of thing streaming services really need to take care to avoid.

I wouldn't say it was cropped haphazardly- the D+ version was almost certainly the version released in non-IMAX theaters and on (I believe) the DVD. IMAX specialty shots tend to get digitally recomposited for maximum effect without forcing too much picture image to get cropped.

I was actually about to begin a comparison between the IMAX shots and their standard versions on D+ right before they took it off of D+ as one component of my next video project.

Exactly one week before its 11th anniversary.

It's been off for a while, so I don't have it fresh in my head or pictures to compare, but I seem to recall the non-IMAX shots being cropped partially on D+ too which was the more irritating part.

Looking at my Blu-ray/DVD combo pack now and both the Blu and the DVD boast that the film is presented in its shifting aspect ratios, so it seems that every home release pre-Disney+ (unless there's a release I missed) supported the dual aspect ratios.

I know not long after Tron: Legacy Disney started scrubbing the IMAX aspect ratios from their films' home releases, with Disney+ only recently finally putting out a bunch of the Marvel films in that format on the streaming service. Will be curious to see what Legacy looks like this time when it hits the service.

The DVD was the only version I hadn't checked in the past year, so I was iffy on that detail. Still, a version of the film without IMAX scenes was made for the vast majority of theater screens to show, so it existing shouldn't be a surprise and, one assumes, would have had care taken to adjust the framing under the director's supervision.

I do hope they restore the IMAX aspect ratio to the D+ release (ideally with the option to watch either version). Tron: The Next Day would also make for a great bonus feature to add on there too.

Well, glad to have this back on Disney Plus. Funny thing, I hit play and it picked up right where I was last time as the credits started.

I don't know why they are called Recognizers, maybe because they recognize threats? In the lore of Tron they were aliens in a game called Space Paranoids, you can read about it here:

I think you're correct there. They serve as patrol craft in the original film and in Legacy. The first film they're overlooking the Grid in general, searching for the rogue Programs/User. In Legacy, they're scouring for stray Programs to collect for repurposing aboard the Rectifier.

I watched a Let's Play of It. Seems like an interesting, if not fully fleshed out, game. Parkour traversal through fairly linear levels mixed with a dash of Arkham brawling and upgrades.

The cut scenes make it essential viewing, though, since it tells the story of the events surrounding CLU's coup. You play as Anon (the "sympathetic program" that Quora mentions in Legacy whom helped get her out of the city). Voice cast is pretty solid, with Olivia and Bruce reprising their roles, John Glover (in a different role than Dyson on Uprising) and Fred Tatasciore as Kevin/CLU (same voice actor that performed them on Uprising).

So, the PS3/360 versions essentially act as a bridge between the Betrayal comic and the film. The DS & PSP versions are prequels.

I saw the vinyl version of the original TRON soundtrack at Target the other day. At least that one was just $25.

The Mondo one has the awesome slipcase/foldout cover art and the colored discs. Not too shabby for $10 more.
