It had been a little whirlwind of events, but they made it, and Chewbacca had a cloak at least. He had been through a few criminal quarters on a few hundred worlds, and the Tion wasn't much different than any other. If anything, it was a drain on his attention, because he had to relearn the specific quirks of the locality. There was also a Big Guy, and his Lieutenants, and they'd all have some insane personality disorders...

It was a thought which had once caused him the excitement and a sense of adventure... but instead drained him right now. What was he doing? If the Tion was at war with the Republic... wouldn't he need to do something about it? Kashyyyk was probably in the invasion path. He marshalled his tired courage, but at least he had given instructions to BB-8 in the meantime. So he just had to -

    "Taccata!"

He said the Wookiee's name before he even realised who he had recognised. He gestured for Vector and Redmond to come with him, and he strode over. In a series of yips and howls in Thykaran rather than Shyriiwook, he stepped up, letting the Wookiee know he was escorting the man, indicating Vector. He switched back to Shryriiwook seamlessly, to see if the two with him understood Thykaran or not. If not, that would be useful; it was a Wookiee dialect that didn't tend to leave the planet.

In the more common language, he interrogated as to whether Taccata was free to assist the young man on his quest, and turned to let Vector do the talking. A paying. If Taccata could be convinced to stay...

    Battle of Corsin

It was then, finally then, that Matthias saw it. The Force rippled, and he could sense Tanee had done something. He no idea what, but the inter-connectivity of the battle stalled. It was more than the confluence of strategies that swung around the Interdictor, it was something much, much more. Matthias took his hands off the controls for a moment of surprise, and he opened the comlink, taking back the guns but pouring it against the Interdictor backdrop for the moment.

    "Did anyone else feel that?"

    IC: Valerius Vector
    Location: Sector 27, Tion

After a quick shower (boy was he glad to get that sand off!) and getting changed into a fresh casual suit he was ready to get going once again.

Luckily Valerius's apartment in the city was still accessible and hadn't been raided. Savulon had kindly given Chewbacca a robe to hide himself in and Valerius himself had provided a coat for Redmon so he could hide his weapon. Valerius had now reteived another blaster but had holstered it in his jacket this time, it was too dangerous to leave it on his hip. His baton/staff was still nestled in another holster in the other side of his jacket.

His datapad was recharged and his credit stash had been replenished. Chewbacca had been given the rest of his share as thanks for the ride. But they weren't finished yet….

After checking his apartment was secure and reactivating the security system, the three made their way to Sector 27 to try and see if they could get anything out of Valerius's contacts.

    Short answer, they got nothing.

Valerius usually met his contacts away from this place as it was safer for him. Even just for a measly few credits they chirped like songbirds. But they kept quiet, they seemed nervous about this Black Thorn even afraid. What made even his most dangerous of contacts feel they could not speak about her.

This woman must be powerful to give these people the heebie jeebies.

This place was still bustling even after martial law had been declared. And Valerius even though he had Redmon and Chewbacca as backup still had his eyes roving around the place, sensing all the sights, smells and sounds.

The sound of a Wookiee roar caught his attention though. Valerius was about to call it a day but the Wookiee was approaching and it seemed Chewbacca knew him too as he called his name. Not surprising the other Wookiee knew him judging by the nod, Chewbacca was a celebrity.

Chewbacca waved him and Redmon over, Valerius studying the other Wookiee closely. He looked like a bounty hunter. Chewbacca seemed to switch languages unfortunately to one Valerius did not know, and there were quite a few he did know, you had to do this job. But he then switched back again asking if Taccata could help out.

Valerius stepped forward giving him a respectful nod "Greetings mighty Taccata, my name is Valerius Vector i'm a private investigator. You know doubt know Chewbacca and the other man is Redmon who is also assisting me".

He pulled out his datapad and showed Taccata a picture of Tara "I'm trying to track down this woman who may have been here recently or in the past. She came here looking for someone called the Black Thorn, she may also be known as Mandalya Tovell" he kept Tara's picture up for a few seconds so Taccata could study it before putting his datapad away.

"I am wondering if you can assist us in our quest to find both women. The Black Thorn could hold some information plus she could know why my woman has headed off to. Name your price."

    Sera Romar
    The Battle of Corsin

„That is what I am talking about!“ She yelled as the TIEs left and right exploded. Somewhere the X-Wing fired and somewhere they discussed some force stuff, but Sera was flying and at full speed amidst a battle that took all the concentration she needed.

„Ready, Vatek?“ She yelled and put her hand on the hyperdrive lever. The Devaronian nodded only.

„C‘mon, bring them down. C‘mon, c‘mon, c‘mon!“ She bit her lip and closed her eyes, letting the Nightflyer rotate once more. The second she heard the beep signaling that the hyperdrive was back online she would pull the lever and jump out of here.

    Wing Commander Sidor Antilles
    The Battle of Corsin

He saw Red-7 fire the torpedo and sighed in relief. A second before the shot the TIE that had almost ruined their last chance had vanished in an explosion. A white, sharply designed freighter appeared from nowhere, raining the correlian hells down on the TIEs. Whoever was flying this thing was either mad or brilliant and probably both.

„All ships, prepare for hyperspace!“ He yelled and pulled his D-Wing up. The torpedoes did the job now or they were all lost. If the Interdictor did not go down there was nowhere to go, nothing to do but die. He knew that and then he realized, there was one more option. One option he had known was there from the beginning. „Red-7 clear the fleet and prepare for jump to point alpha!“ He yelled and brought his own ship down to attack speed. If the torpedo did not hit, there was only one option left and Sidor was ready to take this last resort, before he watched all of them die.

He had to use his ship.

He seriously hoped it would not come to that.

The Nightflyer, turret, Battle of Corsin

Janis felt the TIE vanish, the pilot die and then something happen, something that was supposed to happen. With a gasp he released his breath and leaned forward on the gun. He took one deep breath and then began firing again, now without the guidance of the force, but with the feeling he had made a difference. He had indeed used the force to change something.

Kya asked them, if they felt something. He did not. He did not have the ability to feel something, he was afraid. So he kept his mouth shut and prayed that escape from this battle was now indeed possible. His home had become his worst nightmare. He wanted nothing as much as far, far away from here.

    Kilara Vasetti

    Cockpit of the Nightflier

Kya and Tanee were slowly catching up. Of course no matter how brilliant the tacticians of the Tion Empire were, no matter how much they trained, their fleet had never fought a battle like this either. So how had they gained such perfection in staging it? They had not. They were made to.

„His name is Raan. He is the Warmaster of the Legion.“ Kilara just said into the comm. Then she turned to Sera. „Now that our Jedi friends got us his attention we really need to leave.“ She gave her a desperate smile. Raan was second only to Canos Zoren in power, but contrary to Canos he did not play with his prey. He went after the kill. Quickly, directly and without mercy.

Oh, how afraid she had been of him. She remembered all too well their first meeting.

    Krownest, three years earlier

Master Pro-X had many forms, but he preferred the one where he actually still resembled a droid these days. Kilara jumped back, dodging another two strikes and returned the favore by unleashing a series of attacks all on her own.

„What is the Legion?“ The droid Master asked and Kilara was distracted by the questioning for a second. It was enough for the droid to regain dominance and strike out at her back. She brought her blade in place just in time to avoid the deadly blow.

„The Legion is . . .“ She leaped back, but the droid followed her. These blades were real, but Master Pro-X showed no restrain, no mercy. He would kill her. Leaping back she put one leg against the wall and then propelled herself forward. Screaming out a short birth of anger and frustration as she realized the droid had lured her into a trap by promising a training session. The droid parried the attack admirably, but Kilara knew about his weakness of course and through the force she hurled it into the wall.

„... I am Legion.“ Kilara gasped and the droid, not feeling pain or shock, got up again.

„I know what you are, but I would like to point out I have not asked about your identity. You are Legion. What is the Legion?“ Master ProX asked and this time his attacks came in low. „What are you if you are Legion?“ The attacks were angry, but the days Kilara despaired over any kind of attack had losing been over. She had trained day and night with the blade for years now. Blocking the strike she stared at the droid and then realized she was not gonna fail the test because he killed her with a saber. She was gonna fail, because she had no answer. Stepping back she grabbed Master ProX and then sidestepped and hammered him into the wall behind her. With a smile she stepped behind him. The droid got up immediately, a joint in his leg now broken, which meant nothing to it.

„If you have no answer, you can never . . .“ Master ProX replied. She did not let him finish the sentence.

„We are an extension of our Master will. We are a tool. Means to an end. We are made to destroy the Jedi Order, to wipe it of the galaxy. We are here to do his bidding.“ Kilara hissed. The droid wanted to attack, but she hammered him back into the wall with a force-push. This time she leaped forward and hit his lower arm where he held the saber. Quickly she grabbed his red blade, the real one, with the force turned and severed his arm. Master ProX collapsed to his knees, but kept on talking without irritation.

„So you are slaves?“ He asked and looked up at her. His image turned into one of herself.

„No. We are one with him. In ways you will never understand. You are just a droid.“ She deactivated the lightsaber and stepped away from him.

„Very good, Kilara. You have identified my weakness and exploited it, understood the reality of your existence and the deeper purpose underlying it. I hearby recommend her to be taken into the Outer Circle.“ Master ProX said and got back to his feet, changing into his original droid form again and looking up. Kilara followed his gaze. Above on the balcony stood three hooded figures. They all were part of the inner circle. One very tall and broad in stature, one athletic and with pale hands and one, the one at the center, imposing, armored, spreading his darkness into the force. They all were wearing hoods over their heads.

„I take her.“ Rauda Paz proclaimed and the center figure turned, as he was about to accept Kilara. He did not object though, but left the apprentice to Rauda Paz to train. A second later and Kilara Vasetti hat become the apprentice of Master Raan. The Warmaster, as she would learn he was called.

    Karina Bestat
    -The Risen Hazard

She powered on the hyperdrive, knowing that a few seconds here or there would be crucial to making their escape.

The Jedi had faith. Karina had little training in the Force. But she tried...

She tried to "reach out" ... That's what they called it...That's what Saylu and the Jedi called it...

So she tried...waiting for the right moment to present itself to launch into hyperspace.

    Trusting...

Aboard the Nightflyer and the Interdictor Fleet

Vanlu fired his torpedo and broke away. The two linked glowing projectiles seemed to make their way to the burning Intercitor at incredibly slow speed, as it‘s let remaining flak-battery fired at Red-7, missing him as he drifted away. Sidor probably had the eye to see they would hit exactly where they were meant to.

They did. The impact lead to a large explosion in the center between the four domes, right where they had identified the potential energy core to sit. Naturally the armor was thick at this point. It had been weakened by the first hit, but was still mostly intact. It shook under the impact of the two torpedos and as the explosion vanished in the darkness of space the ship seemed still fully operational . . .

. . . for a second, before the molten armor hit the energy core below and a brilliant white explosion ripped out of the Interdictor on both sides. Like a lance of fire stabbed right through the ship it raised into space in a pillar of uncontrolled energy discharged from the chain reaction of the energy core. The fire began to spread and a second explosion hit the energy converters. Then the energy lines ignited the tunnels and the destruction spread in the ship, until it reach the second core. That one exploded in a similar spectacular flash, ripping the ship now in half, with the front section slowly dropping down on an Empress-Class below unable to escape, as the tower section remained floating in space. The hundreds of lights of it were going out as vacuum filled it. The gravity field had vanished instantly.
Hundreds of ships saw the light of their hyperdrive go back to green.

The Armada could have compensated for this. They could have blocked the exits to hyperspace, rearranged their battle lines to keep the enemy at bay. Yet, just in the moment where the Armada needed perfect coordination most Tanee had taken too much of Raan‘s attention and she heard the angry scream of the dark master in the force. The Armada took a moment to regain their almost unnatural ability to coordinate hundreds of ships. This was the seconds the remains of the 2nd fleet would have to escape. It would be all the hope they were ever gonna get to make it out of Corsin.

That was also true for the Nightflyer, where all of the force users aboard felt the relief that poured into the force. The victory of the Armada would not be total. Sera saw her hyperdrive activate again and Vatek yelled form behind.
    „Coordinates set. Jump!“

Green Leader and Red-7 and their ten remaining comrades heard the commander of the fleet yell on all channels. „Hyperspace! All ships escape to hyperspace! Regroup at Obroa Skaii!“

    Rising Hazard, above Corsin

Saleen smiled and looked at Kalina.

„Now.“ She just said and indeed the hyperdrive stopped blinking red and turned to green. Kalina could feel the incredible concentration of the force far away in the fleet. A concentration of light in the otherwise ever-present darkness.

The enemy fleet around her seemed irritated by this sudden change of tactics. Almost aimlessly the ships tried to turn and regain a concentrated line of fire. Above Kalina a mighty Empress-Class exploded and the ship broke apart, leaving an opening like a gate to the stars.

Commodore Prest, the current commander yelled on all channels. „Hyperspace! All ships escape to hyperspace! Regroup at Obroa Skaii!“ It was his final command before communication failed and a few seconds later he died, but he did with a smile on his face.

Saleen used the moment before the jump to close her eyes and reach out. She felt Tanee in the force, bright and burning.

    WELL DONE MY PADAWAN.

She simply said these words and then shared the knowledge she was still alive and was gonna find her through the force. Not matter how long it would take.

Above Chandrilla, The OPS of the Song of War

The display showed the grav-field vanish, which had been indicated in a dark-red bowl embracing the entires planet and it‘s orbit. The fighter squadron had done the impossible.

Ships began to jump to lightspeed immediately, but it were not as many as one might have hoped.

„Sir, the Chancellor and his newly created war-council is not ready to talk to you.“ The Aide said to Admiral Madine. He raised his brows. „They are quite . . . Intense.“

    Haruun Kal

Pelek Baw, the private quarters of Akeem

Ashana shook her head. "No, we do not want to take any power from your mother. They want to replace your aunt as the de facto ruler in Queen Garu's absence. Because Saylu only takes care of military matters and blocks all civil projects. It is as if she prepares for war and not against a Rebellion. The fleet had been expanded and upgraded. But was that ordered by your mother? Many believe it wasn't." Ashana frowned. "People are just worried what happens if your mother does not return. Why is Careen not ruling in her absence? Why does nobody know who or where Careen's and your father is?" Ashana frowned. The ancient mystery the Garu had declared „never to be revealed“, the father of the two heirs of Haruun Kal‘s throne. It came up in times as these, it always did. "You do realize you two are first in the line of succession? Not your aunt." Ashana looked at Akeem with a desperate smile. "But how could you ever claim the throne as long as she holds the sole power over all military forces?"

    Pelek Baw, Streets

Soa Sten was not held back by anyone, but an endless line of respectful bows from all servants accompanied her. Once outside the streets of Pelek Baw were a stark contrast to the ordered and luxurious world of the palace. Haruun Kal was not a rich planet and what riches they possessed was injected into the conquests of the Royal family. The people were not poor, but outside houses were simple and so were the people's clothes. A few off-worlders and aliens were on the street. Black armored soldiers patrolled occasionally. A Jedi, even in robes drawn tightly around the robes, was a stand out.

Even Jerec Egola would spot her easily as he made his way through the evening streets after having left the club. He would probably recognize this specific Jedi anywhere in the galaxy.

    Tion

    Tion, Sector-27

Taccata howled in what might have been sounding aggressive to most, but it was a gesture of respect. Something only a Wookiee would understand. He nodded as he listened to Chewbacca. Then he turned his head to Valerius and Redmon and his features darkened.

[The Black Thorn has tried to secure my services in the last weeks, I am well aware of her. Most around here will not be that willing to talk about her. She is the most powerful of the criminals remaining after the cleansing of the last week. With many well placed friends among the royal families.] He explained freely. Obviously he was not afraid of her. No surprise as he had become famous for taking down a Hutt cartel on Concord Dawn a year earlier. All by himself. He did not fear much in this galaxy.

He turned to Valerius. [I will no longer accept the credits of the free worlds, but if Chewbacca wants me to lead you to her, I will do so.] He growled and looked with cold eyes at the man from Tion. [In return I ask for free passage of this enemy world.] He turned to Chewbacca. [Our homeworld is close to the borders of the Free Worlds, I am afraid it won‘t be long before war reached Kashyyyk once again.]

    The Battle of Corsin

The torpedos hit and for a second Sidor could do nothing, but keep his breath. He would have been an easy target for any enemy, but he knew he was dead if this shot did not make it. So what did he have left to do, but pray to the force . . . and then nothing happened. For a moment it seemed the Interdictor had shaken off their last desperate attempt. Sidor opened his mouth to tell the squadron, what an honor it had been . . . When suddenly the explosion ripped through the enemy ship. The armor must have molten, he thought and turned sharp left not to be captured in the growing explosion. The destruction spread and he yelled a loud scream into the comm!

„YEEEEEEAAAH! One for the books, Red Seven! One for the damned books!“ He laughed and felt the relief. He brought his ship around and his hyperdrive went to green. The Commodore shouted somewhere orders to regroup at Obroa Skaii, which he took with a grin. for a moment the enemy fleet seemed in shock, confused even. Their perfect plan seemed not to have worked that perfectly.

„All ships, see you at OS. Jump on my mark. Two, one, now!“ He pushed his nose up and broke free of the enemy fleet to pull his lever of his hyperdrive back and he could not wait for the stars to become long white lines.

He turned his head and looked one last time at the transport. They had made this possible. Whoever this daredevil of a pilot was in there, he would have to find him and give him a fighter for the next time.

    ~Bye-Bye Bad Guys!~

The kessurian’s wide eyes, as with all else in the immediate vicinity, took in the flight path of the torpedoes for what felt like an eternity. One final eternity before time sped up again.

And finally, at the end, they struck and a large explosion rocked the Interdictor. It did nothing. Nothing at all. Vanlu was about to scream in rage and disbelief when suddenly another explosion appeared. A much larger one forming a kind of fiery lance as it blew through the vessel.

His scream stopped before it started and Red 7 could only stare as he righted his ship to get a better look while dodging a few more shots from the enemy that hadn’t been entirely distracted. Though most were. Certainly all of the Republic ships were in that instant. All of them holding their breath.

The fire spread. Another explosion rocked the Interdictor. Then another one. And this time…it was in half. Half!

    It. Was. DOWN!!!!!!!!

“YEEEEEEAAAH! One for the books, Red Seven! One for the damned books!”

The jubilant voice of Green Leader came through the com loud and clear, laughter actually being evident in a time of great tragedy. But right now. In this instant, that all seemed far away and distant. They had done it. He had done it. Everyone had done it.

    The impossible.

Vanlu said nothing. He didn't trust his voice, in fact he wasn't sure when he would be able to again. Not after all this. His heart...what was he feeling? More accurately, what wasn't he feeling? It had dropped, rose, dropped again, then rose to hammer his chest like nothing he had ever known. In these last few minutes he had experienced nearly every emotion imaginable. He would never forget this.

    This baptism by fire.

“Hyperspace! All ships escape to hyperspace! Regroup at Obroa Skaii!”

“All ships, see you at OS. Jump on my mark.”

Blinking and quickly adjusting his ship, seeing the green light now for hyperspace rather than targeting, Vanlu let his hands fly over the controls one more time over the chaos of Corsin. This time however, against all odds…

He was going to survive. They were all going to survive.

    “Two, one, now!”

As space turned to hyperspace, with the stars stretching into their distinctive long lines as if reaching out to embrace them all; it was only this spectacle that bore witness to Vanlu Teslisi…

    Crying silent tears of joy.

[In return I ask for free passage of this enemy world.] He turned back to face Chewbacca - [Our homeworld is close to the borders of the Free Worlds, I am afraid it won‘t be long before war reached Kashyyyk once again.]

Chewbacca was conscious of that, which was why he'd left BB-8 with the Falcon just in-case. Otherwise they may be stranded here... behind enemy lines, so to speak.

He nodded and rumbled his agreement. A shape of plan was forming for him; the Free Worlds royal families would be a target in the war to come... if Vector here was a route to them... Chewbacca went on, confirming to Vector that he would vouch for Taccata, but that they would need to move quickly, especially with the royal connection. He checked his bandoleer unconsciously again.

    Corsin, exultant, but -

The Interdictor went up in explosions - finally - and ships began to streak into hyperspace, turning annihilation into a retreat. Matthias watched them go, and started to wonder where they were all jumping... and hoped that the ship commanders had a simple understanding of angles and trajectories. They looked like -

He spoke into the Nightflyers channel to the others; he didn't have access to the general comms. "Please tell me they're not all jumping to the same point - the enemy will triangulate and follow us -"

But it was too late - the battle had been lost, and it was just falling apart -

But Matthias knew they needed to talk about that breakdown in the enemy coordination too. It was key to what had happened; he was sure of it.

The Battle of Corsin, bye bye Legion!

Sera smiled as she saw this technological monstrosity explode. A sensational shot the X-Wing had landed there.

Kya brought up the topic of the fleet probably jumping to one single point in space and the Armada following. A noteworthy thought. From what she had seen it seemed the Armada was hellbent on wiping out the entire planet, but considering their numbers a few hundred of these Empress-class Star Destroyers could easily be deployed to hunt down the remains of the fleet without much loss of efficiency. These guys certainly had enough ships. More then enough to wipe out the battered remains of the second fleet.

It was not their problem. "Their prob, we are not going where they are." Sera said and pulled the lever of the hyperdrive back, watching stars become white lines. Turning to Kilara she nodded. She opened a shipwide channel.

"Time we talk. Let'a meet at the lounge everybody." She said and sighed deeply. "We really made it." She added with a smile.

Then she turned to Kilara. "Go, I need a moment." She said to hear and leaned on her console. The adrenaline began to fade and her hands were shaking.

Once Kilara was out she turned to Vatek.

"Listen I want you nowhere any of these mind-readers, hear me? You realize what you got there? What this means, now that the Republic and the Free Systems are at war?" She hissed to Vatek. Then she followed Kilara and walked to the lounge, waiting for everybody to gather.

    IC: Valerius Vector
    Location: Sector 27, Tion

Valerius listened as the Wookiee let out a howl which sounded aggressive but he did not reach for his weapons he just kept his hands at his sides. He definitely had more respect for Chewbacca which probably came from the code of honour that Wookiees always adhered to. Taccata’s face darkened when he turned to Redmon and him, not surprising really as Valerius was basically the enemy now.

Am going to have to get used to this…...and I always thought criminals thought I was the enemy anyway due to being law enforcement.

[The Black Thorn has tried to secure my services in the last weeks, I am well aware of her. Most around here will not be that willing to talk about her. She is the most powerful of the criminals remaining after the cleansing of the last week. With many well placed friends among the royal families.]

So this was why his contacts stayed quiet. It seemed the Black Thorn had become the unofficial queen of the underworld here maybe within the whole Free Systems itself. With martial law now in effect the criminals who posed the most threat or were just plain bad were being cleansed as the Wookiee had said. With her connections to the royal families of Tion maybe elsewhere she could easily procure her services and still stay clean in underworld circles by eliminating the competition and keeping her underworld credentials intact.

And by the sounds of it, scaring everybody into submission, even the most hardened of criminals. This Wookiee however seemed to be the exception.

[I will no longer accept the credits of the free worlds, but if Chewbacca wants me to lead you to her, I will do so.] He growled and looked with cold eyes at the man from Tion. [In return I ask for free passage of this enemy world.] He turned to Chewbacca. [Our homeworld is close to the borders of the Free Worlds, I am afraid it won‘t be long before war reaches Kashyyyk once again.]

He hadn't mentioned Tara which was a shame, but if the Black Thorn had had a meeting with Tara then hopefully she could lead Valerus to her or to the next clue as to her whereabouts. And perhaps he could get clarification as to what was going on with Tara’s father and his alliance or maybe something more with the Empress of Tion. And whether Tara was trying to flush out the truth of what was going on behind the scenes as it were.

Taccata wasn't asking for credits but just basically a ride off in exchange if Chewbacca agreed for Taccata to lead them to the Black Thorn. Which Chewbacca did, and then spoke to Valerius confirming that he was vouching for the other Wookiee but that they would need to head off quickly.

Valerius simply nodded and turned to Taccata “If Chewbacca here vouches for you that’s good enough for me. Lead us to the Black Thorn and you get a free ticket off. And believe me I think we will all need to get out of here sooner or later” Valerius didn't feel like he was home now, he felt like he was a stranger on his home planet.

“If this Black Thorn is as dangerous as I am hearing she is and as you say, then an extra Wookiee as backup could be rather helpful. If she has friends in high places then we will need to tread carefully. The woman I am after is a Princess of Lianna and she met with this woman, I don’t know why but I intend to find out. Time is of the essence here, I need to find the Princess before more bounty hunters show up and try to kill her. Or me again for that matter.”

    He gestured “Lead the way”.

    Jerec Egola and Soa Sten

    Streets of Haruun Kal

Jerec saw her and immediately changed his trajectory, slowly moving to an interception course. He had his breathing mask on that allowed at least minimal traveling incognito, but he had the feeling she needed not to see his face to recognize him.

Soa had started buying some fruits on the market in front of the palace gates. It gave her time to get a general feel for the place, was good against hunger and allowed people to interact with her. They were not unfriendly to her. Not at all. There was a tension in the air though. There was also . . . Someone grabbed her arm and she was about to ignite her blade and slash out, but she somehow felt that also the grip was rough it was not meant to harm her. He was pushed into an alley and there she quickly grabbed the hand and used the force to hammer the attacker against the wall. Getting out her lightsaber and holding it to the man‘s face.

„Whoa! Calm down honey.“ The man removed his mask and she could not believe who gave her an amused smile under the mask. Jerec Egola! „If I wanted to kill you I had better opportunities than this, don‘t you think?“ He said and Soa did not lower her lightsaber.

„What are YOU doing here?“ She hissed and then lowered her lightsaber hilt. „Does the Red Hand not have anything better to do now that the Republic is at war?“
Egola looked in a badly acted, sarcastic grimace of surprise. „The Republic? From what I heard you Jedi are not totally uninvolved. Right? And I could ask the same to you. What are you doing here?“
„I asked first.“ Soa said and put the arms at her hips.
„Mine is top secret“ He said and raised his hands.
„Everything you do is top secret.“ Soa said unnerved. „Shall I mind trick it out of you?“
    „About that, did you . . .“
„No.“ She sighed. „But you try to distract.“
„Well, I had a Korunnai assassin on Chandrila trying to kill the fat Senator of Kuat. Seems to have been a Royal guard member. So I followed the trail here. How about you?“
„Escortg duty for a wanna-be Jedi going back to mummy.“ Soa said. Jered shook his head.
„Oh c’mon, that is unfair. I was transparent. So why are you not?“ He folded his arms. „We used to work together.“
    „That was before . . . You know . . .“
„Stop. Stop behaving as if I made you do anything.“ Jerec lay his head aside.
„No, you did not. Something off. The heir of Haruun Kal was spared twice by the new Dark Jedi on the block. Also a Jedi seems to have some divided loyalties. Something seems not to fit, I followed my intuition.“ She said and was almost embarrassed.
„Well, worked well enough on Malastare.“ Jered said and looked out of the alley to make sure they were not watched. Soa smiled.
„Yes, it did, didn‘t it? There seems to be a palace revolt involving rogue royal guards, maybe they were the assassins.“ Soa said. Jerec nodded.
„On them. But there is another alternative, I guess?“
    „Why do you think so?“
„You favored theory is never the first you tell.“ Jerec said.
Soa leaned forward. „There is something going on there. In this palace. The heir is an angry young man, but his aunt is a trained Jedi and she is not very Jedi-like I gotta say. The Queen is disturbingly absent. I think there might be a coup.“
„Spontaneous?“ Jerec asked. Soa smiled and shook her head.
„Okay.“ Jerec looked around again. He knew what this meant. If someone had planned for a coup and to use the war, it meant someone had known about the war. „Are you on this? I got someone within the palace, but I don‘t wanna risk him as an asset. I can take care of those rebels.“
„I promised the Protector I would find them for her. I bought me time to stay here.“
„I am gonna find them and then we can talk to them and if we have to take them out.“ Jerec said and put his facemask back on.
„Okay, I will talk to the Jedi who brought the heir here.“ Soa said and nodded. „And the heir of the throne, he seems surprisingly absent from the welcome ceremony, too.“ Soa said.
„What is it? There is a reason why you are here. Not that something strange is going on with the heir. This little kingdom is nothing in the grand scheme of things and the grand scheme of things is just about to bite you in your butt, you and the Jedi Order.“ Jerec leaned forward. „C‘mon, a little trust among old friends. We are in this together again it seems.“
Soa looked at him. „They were many. Those dark warriors, they send them in by the dozens. Must have been a hundred, two hundred of them at Corsin. Maybe there are a lot more.“ She lay her head aside. „You can have shadow academies somewhere in the less visited corners of the galaxy. A lot of planets and that. Sure. But how do you recruit so many force users? Without the Jedi who do the same stumbling over you eventually.“

Jerec looked at her and nodded. „The Korunnai are all force-sensitive, right? You think the enemy recruited here?“
Soa nodded. „Not many species in the galaxy with such a density of force sensitive people. It is either that or a breeding program.“ She sighed. „Anyway, if they get their hands on these numbers of force users . . . It will be too much for the Order. Or the Republic.“

Jerec nodded. „I see. Got it.“ He turned to leave and then stopped suddenly and turned once more. „Glad to have you here, Soa. Not only . . . I mean . . . You know. What I mean.“

„Likewise.“ She just said and smiled at him. He nodded and left. Soa closed her eyes. Jerec made things unnecessary complicated for her, but she knew what he was capable of. If this was as bad as she feared, she could use his help.

    The Nightflyer

He leaned back as the ship went into hyperspace. The giant explosion seemed to have made their escape possible and he smiled. This one TIE had indeed made a difference. It felt good to have made a difference. It made good to have made this attackers pay at least a little for what they had done to their home.

Only now he realized he was for the third time in his life on a spaceship. The second one he had ever been on. This was a very different experience from the old trawler of the Duros Captain. Funny enough Tanee was with him on a ship the second time. He heard Sera summon them in the lounge and he felt like not going. Letting the adults do the talking. But he had a place in this, if he wanted or not.

He got up, slided down the stairs to the turret and made his way into the center of the ship, where the lounge was. Tanee was there, of course. „Are you alright?“ He asked her as he entered and leaned against the door, waiting for the others. „Thanks for helping me.“ He smiled at her. She could not see it, but maybe she could feel it. She was a teenager, like him. they both did not belong in a war and they both seemed unable to escape it.

„Looks like we made it out again.“

    The Lounge of the Nightflyer

Kilara nodded to Sera Romar and stood up. Indeed she should have her moments.

„You did great.“ She said and left the cockpit to join the others in the lounge. This would not be easy. A Jedi child, an old man trained in the force, but no Jedi and Janis. Janis was why she was here. He was what this was about. But she had to be careful. All too easy the others could ruin everything. If they did not give him what he needed now, he would not be ready. He had to be ready.

She made her way into the lounge and in her black combat suit leaned against the wall. She looked at the blind girl and thin at Janis. „You did great boy. That shot saved us all.“ She had to admit he was different then she would have imagined. A frightened boy and a prodigy in the force the same time. Maybe his lack of awareness of what he truly was, was for his best. But before she talked to him, she had something more urgent to clarify.

„Care to explain what you got going with Canos Zoren, little girl?“ She asked Tanee and folded her arms. „I could feel you two had a connection.“

    Tanee Bolyn
    The Nightflyer

So many emotions flowed through the young girl, even as she sat, feeling the Force flow around her. She was aware of so many things going on beyond the ship, but she managed to keep her meditation growing as the ship wildly darted about.

    Oh Force, so many things!

Tanee felt the tension in the fleet, felt as the force seemed to burst out of Janis, and she felt the old Matthias Kya as a focused presence in the force. And the other. Even as Matthas and the Darksider said something, she had been busy. Tanee had followed that small tendril of energy that had linked the enemy ships together into one fighting unit. And she followed that link until she found him.

She swore she could see him, his presence so strong within the Force. He saw her too. She knew his name was Raan. He was powerful. Truly powerful, like Masters were. Raan recognized her, too. He angrily reached out and his dark power burst into the force. How this being felt in the force was totally different. This man was even more lethal. But Tanee kept going. As Tanee felt the dark energy pour against her defenses, threatening to break them . . . she felt his scream and rage, and then, he was gone.

The ship shook. Tanee knew that there had been a huge explosion. The ship turned hard. Then...

Nothing. Tanee gasped, as she realized she had been holding her breath. A sense of relief poured into the Force, and she heard shouting. Tanee, couldn't feel the tendril anymore, so she relaxed, allowing herself a small smile at the feeling she now felt into the Force. She felt a bit tired but happy. And then, just as the ship about to jump into hyperspace, Tanee heard something...

    /WELL DONE MY PADAWAN./

The tiredness left her immediately as Tanee sat up straight, giving an acknowledgment. Saleen was alive!!!...and then the worlds hit her...

    ...Padawan...!!!!!

Tanee squeezed her hands in excitement. Master Saleen....!!

Yes, they would find each other. It made Tanee wonder where the ship was heading next. After all, they were not part of the Republic. And like most people, they would probably want to get as far away from this battle as possible. And Tanee could well understand it. But Master Saleen's words and touch made her feel better for the future of things. Tanee's eyes watered, and she allowed a few tears to slide down her face, feeling full of emotions.

Just as that sensation was fading away, Tanee heard through the ship's speakers..

//"Time we talk. Let's meet at the lounge everybody."//

Hmm. Maybe they would be discussing where they were going. Tanne wiped her face, just as she heard Janis coming into the lounge area.

"Are you alright?“ He asked her as he entered and leaned against the door, waiting for the others. Tanee nodded. "Thanks for helping me.“ He said as he smiled at her.

Tanee gave a slight grin as she looked over towards him. "You're welcome," she said simply, as others began to fill the lounge. The Darksider, Kilara praised Janis about the shot he took. She turned and looked toward Tanee.

"Care to explain what you got going with Canos Zoren, little girl?“ She asked Tanee and folded her arms. "I could feel you two had a connection.“

Tanee put her tongue to the roof of her mouth as she silently weighed her next words. Things had changed now.

"You mean, like your connection to the Legion?" Tanee stated factually. She still had the smooth pebble in her hands, and she gave a small sigh. "I am quite sure that you know of the attack on Elyseum." Tanee gave a smile, but there was no mirth in it. "Not that I need to explain anything to you, or anyone else, but when he came after the Jedi there and Janis, he approached me as well." Tanee chuckled. "I believe, he was trying to recruit me." Tanee rubbed the stone and then slipped it back into its pouch.

"So now, he drones on trying to convince me of certain things." Tanee slowly stood up, smoothing out her clothing before sitting back down again in another seat. "Not that I can stop him. I've tried. He's already told me of your plans, .... well, plans according to him. But I choose to give you benefit of the doubt." Tanee shrugged.

Tanee then folded her hands into her lap. "Anything else?"

    Admiral Seron Madine
Aboard the Song of War, Holographic Conference with the War Council

Seron stepped on the platform in the communication center. the room had been completely cleared except for him and two droids of the TRI, which would erase their logs right after making a back-up of the council meeting for Seron‘s personal use later.

The holographic representations of the Senate‘s hastily formed War Council appeared. Center stage took Chancellor Audin Sorin, to his left sat an old Mon Calamari, who Seron recognized as his retired predecessor Tockbar. It was not a good sign he was here. Sedos Tavos of Corellia was there and leaned forward with a look of disgust as Seron appeared. To the left sat the bulky Deon of Kuat, relaxed as always and drinking from a cup. There was no Jedi present, Seron realized. There should have been one.

„Do we wait for a representative of the Jedi Order?“ He asked before doing any greetings.

„The Jedi Order will soon send one, I am sure. For now they seem too busy with their own affairs. We shall begin without their valued council.“ The Chancellor said.

„Of course, Chancellor. My greetings to you Senators, Admiral.“ He clearers his throat. „A few hours ago the Free Systems have attacked the Third Republic world of Corsin with an Armada of approximately one-thousand and two hundred ships. Most of the designs are completely unknown to us, but our tactical analysis is underway. The battle was a decisive defeat for us and only a small amount of our fleet managed to escape the onslaught. We have lost control over the planet itself and sensor data suggests that the attackers are committing a massacre down there. Our ground-troops are mostly destroyed.“

„Who commands the second fleet?“ Sedos Tavon interrupted the Admiral.

„The current chain of command seems unclear. Admiral Farlander, the Vice-Admiral and all six Commodores seem to have fallen in battle.“ He said and cleared his throat. „There is no 2nd Fleet anymore. Therefore I have taken command of the Third Republic . . .“

„Ridicilous!“ Tavos gasped and leaned back. He received a critical look from the Chancellor. He seemed not to care.

„What exactly do you consider ridiculous, Senator?“ The Chancellor asked and Tavos gave a burst of laughter.

„The teenage Admiral shall lead us into war? Had it happened a day earlier he would not even had his command!“ Tavos said. Madine stared at him as the room got silent.

„Thank you for your great trust, Senator. I assure you I am well-aware of the unfaithful circumstances, but the chain of command . . .“ Madine was again not allowed to finis his sentence.

„We were the Senate, we can change the chain-of-command at any time.“ Tavos said. There was silence in the room. Tockbar seemed uncomfortable, but stayed silent. Madine realized he had no friends here today.

Then one spoke up who he had not expected to. Deon of Kuat.

„We can of course try to change the command structure of the navy. Maybe a non-confidence vote against the chancellor? By the time we will be done doing our political moves we will be ruled by the Empress of Tion.“ He leaned forward and looked a Tavos. „1.200 ships! Have you heard what the Admiral said? Where di she get such a fleet? It is larger than any of ours. We need to trust our military now, or we make it impossible to react to this immediate threat.“ He leaned back again. Tavon bit his lip. He waved the argument away.

„We should appoint Admiral Erod from the 3rd fleet immediately to the High Commander of the Third Republic.“ He said.

„With all due respect, the chain of command for this situation is clear and Admiral Erod is based too far away. Senator, I get it that you do not think I can handle the situation, but are you realizing what is happening? they have not build this fleet to attack one planet! The planet itself was the most heavy fortified system in all of the Third Republic. The enemy is trying to break our spine. They will move down the Hydian Way now. Jazbina, Bogden, Uviu Exen, Brentaal. Once they reached Brentaal their fleet will spread within the core and we will fight for the very center of the Republic. A fight we cannot win.“ Madine clenched his hand to a fist.

„Our fleet is considerable in size. We certainly can stop them, can we?“ The Chancellor asked. Madine sighed.

„Our fleet is considerable in size, but despite the fact their ships seem to be superior to ours, we have hundreds of systems to defend, while they can pick whatever target they like. Right now Obroa Skaii, Ithor, Nouane . . . These systems are defenseless against the Armada. Without the 2nd Fleet they only have their own homeless to defend themselves and I invite everybody to watch what they did to our mightiest fleet over Corsin! We are spread thin, while they have a united Armada that will crush us like a fist, if we do not react accordingly.“ Madine breathed out. The Senators were now silent.

„Are you saying,“ Deon of Kuat said first. „Are you saying we are loosing the war?“

Madine looked at him. „We might. We do not have to. But the Third Republic is simply not prepared for an invasion. Our whole military system is not based on the idea of defense against such an enemy. We need to reform ourselves right away.“ Madine nodded. „Conquest needs a certain tactical depth, I assume we will see a consolidation of their position now. Obroa Skaii and Nouane will possibly be their next targets. Then they will begin to move corewords. Considering their high effectiveness, I believe they will not need very long to do so. It gives us a few days. A week at best.“

Tavos looked at him. Then at the Chancellor. Audin knew he had forced Madine into this office and not to wage war. War had seemed impossible. At least to him.

„Tell us Admiral Madine, what you think we should do now. How do you desire to reform the military?“ The Chancellor asked.

„Yeah, what is your plan?“ Tavos asked.

Madine had no consolidated plan yet, how could he? But he had an idea what he needed.

„All planetary defense fleets will be put under command of the High Command. We forsake the fringe worlds and try to slow them down there. We gather our strength along the Hydian way and make our stand there.“ Madine said and folded his arms behind his back.

„The Senators of the planets will never agree to that.“ Tavos said and the Chancellor nodded.

„Then they will see their planets fall, like Corsin did. I think we can make it happen. Is Kuat and Corellia agree.“ Deon said. Of course, Kuat and Croellia had massive homefleets on their own, which would be a powerful symbol.

Tavos clenched his teeth. „What if you loose?“ He asked.

„I have a plan for that, too. But Senator, I do not have to win. To win the war, all I need to do is cause so many losses, that they cannot invade the core anymore. Then their offense will come to a halt. Fondor, Kuat, Corellia and Byblos must go into war-production right away. We need to activate Deep Core.“ Madine said and the last words made the Chancellor look up.

„What is Deep Core?“ Deon of Kuat asked and turned his head.

„A weapons research project. I was part of it.“ Madine said. „A fleet, build in the Deep Core. Small, but we are ready for mass production.“ Madine said. The Chancellor nodded.

„Admrial Tockbar, what do you say?“ He asked the Calamari next to him.

Madine looked at his predecessor who had never been a fan of him and the Mon Calamari gave a gurgling sound, that was probably a sigh. „I agree with everything Admiral Madine said. The chain-of-command is clear and our fleet must prepare to meet this challenge.“

Deon looked at Tavos again. „What does Corellia say?“ He asked.

Tavos looked at Madine and then shook his head. „Madness. But I see the reasoning behind the young man‘s words. I have conditions. Our Admiral‘s stay in command of the fleets.“

„I count on it.“ Madine said.

„We will not leave our planets completely defenseless.“ He said.

„I plan to have thirty percent of the fleets to remain in place.“ Madine said.

„Fifty.“ Tavos said. He looked at Madine. It was too high a number, but Madine knew he had to take this or this war might be over before it truly began.

„Fifty, agreed.“ He said. Tavos nodded.

„An emergency resolution by the Chancellor might work best. Kuat and Corellia will sign it first. Not following one of those would be high treason and nobody wants to have that one his resume. Especially in war-times.“ Tavos finally said.

„Agreed.“ Deon of Kuat said. „We should present the Senate with the footage of Corsin and pass the resolution. I can make my allies sign it.“

„So can I.“ Tavos said and looked at the Chancellor. the three would have enough votes.

„So be it.“ The Chancellor said.

„You get your fleet, let us hope you are as good as the Chancellor said you are, when you were appointed to that position, boy.“ Tavos said. Madine nodded only, letting the continued insult stand unchallenged.

„Admiral, you will be the most powerful man in the history of the Third Republic. Use that power wisely.“ Deon of Kuat said.

„I will.“ Madine said. „Chancellor, Admiral, Senators. Please excuse me now, I have a lot to do.“

    Tavos smirked. „I can imagine.“

    Elyseum
. Yes, she had known about Elyseum. The first strike, taking out Master Kran, before the war began. She had not known Janis had been there, she had not known the girl was a survivor of the attack. Four had survived, but only two Canos Zoren had let go, she had heard. Janis and Tanee. It made sense.

„He is in your head.“ She simply said. Had Canos forced a communion on her? It seemed to make most sense. She could not keep him out of her head? Exactly how it felt for her sometimes. When she was still part of the Legion. An hour ago.

„I have no ties with the Legion, I was one of them. Until not even an hour ago I gave all that up to save him.“ She looked at the boy. „I don’t need your benefit of the doubt, little girl. I have no plans for you, Padawan. I did not even knew you existed until we met.“ Again she turned to Janis. „Canos will be able to sense where she is going.“ She finally said and folded her arms. He would also feel Kilara, but she had an idea what to do about that. „You will not be safe around her.“

The few sources there are, say she was imprisoned with Canos Zoren in some sort of prison for force-users and was part of his break out. What is known about her is, that she was among the first five members of the Inner Circle of the Legion and is until this day. Among the ranks of the Legion it has been her task to identify the most skilled candidates and train them to become assassins. The Reapers this elite is called and they are have been most effective so far. Of all members of the Legion she was one of those who travelled most, orchestrating several campaigns of assassination to forward Canos Zoren‘s interests from the shadows. She was also responsible for eliminating those Jedi who sniffed around in the wrong corners of the galaxy. Many of them she has dueled and bested herself.

She is said to never have lost a duel, except one with her Master. That was how she lost her legs, the legends among the Legion say.

She has taken a young girl named Kilara Vasetti as her apprentice a dew years ago and has trained her to become her natural successor and a master assassin. Kilara is among the few recruits who have not been taken from within the ranks of the Legion itself, but Rauda always felt her independent spirit gave her an edge of her competitors. Truth was, she reminded Rauda of herself. She was introduced to the Legion and Rauda made sure she had the right training to take the place as her apprentice. Others wanted her, too. The strength of the girl in the force belonged to Rauda though. Yet, she lately felt conflict within the girl. The communion of the Legion, the holy ritual in which one candidate becomes LEGION seems to have failed on her in some way, a symptom that got Kilara the eye of the Master himself, Canos Zoren.

The Legion knows no hierarchy. Only it‘s Master and the Legion. Yet, among her peers she is considered the unofficial third-in-command, after Master Raan. She advises the Master himself on many matters. This is a position she sees now endangered, after a string of failures on Elyseum, where one of her Reapers failed and the treason of her own apprentice.

This rare weakness on her part has brought her into a delicate position and she knows it might cost even her existence, if she cannot correct the mistake.

    -Hyperspace

The transition to hyperspace was seamless. They were on their way to Obroa-Skai.

"I'd call that a disappointment." Buzz's com went off in Karina's ear.

Lorn sighed. "We barely made it out. I'm going to go check on Rubber."

"Khan, what're we going to do with the Jedi?" Hawk's voice chimed in to inquire.

Karina did not look at the Jedi in the passenger sheet. She was not connected to their com channel and would not hear the discussion.

"We will drop her off at Obroa-Skai."

Karina knew they owed their survival to the Jedi and the Force. The least they could do was take her to her desired destination.

"And what about us?" Hawk asked. Always the inquisitive one. Always concerned with the squad's well being.

"I say we go dark and do what we do best." Buzz said as he leaned back in his gunner seat, popping a sweet-n-sour candy into his mouth.

Karina agreed. Their squad was a dark unit and in the situation that they were without clear direction, they would do what they believed necessary for the war effort. However, there was still a chain of command in place and if not, there would be one commissioned and authorized by the Third Republic. She preferred to operate between the lines until it was absolutely necessary. The time was close, but not there yet.

"We'll cross that bridge when we get to it."

    -Pelak Baw, Quarters

    "Enough."

The emotions he had for her took a back seat. As heir protector, he would only allow so many accusations to be thrown at his family and the realm protector. Ashana was approaching treasonous behavior. His eyes grew narrow and he tilted his head towards Ashana.

"How is suggesting we bring back the council not targeting my family's power? I will not hear anymore of this. Saylu is the realm protector; That means that military matters are her primary responsibility. I've seen two worlds attacked and destroyed by an unknown force. The fact that Haruun Kal has not been attacked is likely due to her efforts. Instead of suspicion and treachery, you all should be giving your thanks to her."

He brushed past Ashana to the door to his quarters. His hand stopped as it hovered above the access panel.

"I love you. I always have. It is no secret. The words you're speaking border on treason and I will hear no more. I will find my mother and I will find out what is at play here."

    His hand activated the panel.

"I think you should be getting back to my brother. I have other things to attend to."

Akeem summoned his blade to his hand and clipped his lightsaber to his pants. It was time for him to meet with his aunt. She would hide things from him. She would lie. But the interaction itself would tell him how he needed to proceed. The royal palace was always treacherous grounds, politically and personally. But Saylu was at the center of everything that was going on.

    Aboard the Command Ship Ascendancy

Raan raised slowly from the sitting position back to his feet and put his hood back over his head. He felt the proximity of another Legion. The battle was over, the clean up of the last few ships needed none of his attention, so he turned his focus fully to Rauda Paz, the Master of Assassins who entered with Canos Zoren‘s favorite Reaper in tow. He folded his hands before him and let out a deep sigh.

„Your apprentice has betrayed the LEGION. She has done the impossible.“ Raan said and lowered his gaze. „Kilara is with the boy and a Jedi.“ He then said and they both knew which boy he meant. The boy their Master wanted. The boy her Reaper had failed to apprehend. Another failure on a list that grew longer with every moment, now.

    Obroa-Skai

It is said the planet Obroa-Skai contains all the knowledge of the galaxy. It certainly houses deep under it‘s mild winter surface the largest data-core of the galaxy. In the last 100 years and free of imperial restrictions it has become something of the galaxy wide accepted archive of scholarship and knowledge. A peaceful planet full of scholars and researchers it nevertheless has a powerful planetary shield.

The surface is in an eternal mild winter, with snow covering it, but the flora and fauna is mostly left alone. It is a place where knowledge is valued above all and war only exists in countless documents in their archives.

    Orbit, Gathering Point

As Green Leader and Red-7 arrived in orbit the last surviving carrier of the 2nd fleet, the Sunrider, was already in orbit. Priority landing privileges were handed out for starlight’s now appearing everywhere in orbit. A few Republicans-Class ships were present, most of them badly damaged. Two dozen support frigates were there, too. Maybe all in all a hundred ships had made it out of Massacre of Corsin.

„Sunrider to Green Leader, bring your pilots on board, we have a priority request for you.“ The comm-officer informed Sidor Antilles. Priority requests had not been used in a long time within the Third Republic navy. All in all twelve fighters from the Interdictor fleet had made it out of the battle. Three D-Wings and nine X-Wings, all damaged and in a sorry state, but with proud pilots mourning the loss of most of their squadrons.

The Rising Hazard made it into system shortly after the fighter wing and saw the sorry remains of the 2nd fleet and among them two large transports designated as army transports. Of the massive army of the Republic on Corsin no more than 5.000 soldiers had made it out. „Bring me to the flagship, please. I need to contact the Jedi Council.“ Saleen said softly. „Would your team be ready for a priority mission behind enemy lines?“ She asked as if she discussed the weather. „I need to find my apprentice, but there is something of great urgency that needs to be taken care of and I think you are uniquely qualified to help me.“ Saleen said and looked at Kahn. Obviously she hinted at the woman‘s force sensitivity.

Pelek Baw, the private quarters of Akeem and throne room

Ashana lowered her head and was close to tears. „You are making a mistake.“ She said and turned away to leave the quarters as fast as possible.

Akeem found his aunt even at night at work. In the throne room a large green hologram of the galaxy was shining, now containing a large part that wears red, marking the Free Systems and including the former neutral zone and Corsin. Another hologram showed the footage of the Battle of Corsin.

„They pretty much wiped the Republic out.“ She said with a cool voice, not turning to Akeem as she felt his presence enter her vicinity. „Impressive. A blessing the war is far away from us. Almost as if the Free Systems wanted to make clear the independent systems are not their target.“ She turned around to Akeem finally.

„I feel you have questions.“ She said with a smile that was cold at best.

    Pelek Baw, the streets

Soa Sten was on her way back to the palaces, when she felt she was followed. In the crowd a young woman wearing off-worldly clothing, but clearly a Korunnai was shadowing her and not exactly skillful.

Jerec Egola was on his way back to his ship, when to his left he saw a group of heavy weaponed men in armor storm a house. Mercenaries, in the service of the crown. Their leader waited patiently outside, as the soldiers entered the building and screams could be heard from inside. Everybody else hurried to get their way, not intervening in what seemed to be an arrest of sorts.

    Mercenaries

Calek, the leader of the mercenaries

Then a family was brought out. A woman and man in their fifties, probably, then a daughter who was a teenager still and finally a boy no older than seven probably.

„In the name of the crown you are arrested Tana‘nun‘Raul.“ Calek the leader of the mercenaries said. The family was brought to their knees and their hands were folded behind their back. The kid was crying. The daughter begged silently for mercy. Four mercenaries and their leader stood above them.

„Why? We have done nothing wrong! We are loyal citizens . . .!“ The man yelled and the mercenary answered it with hitting him into the face so hard he was thrown into the mud.

„You have cooperated with the Rebellion, by allowing them to gather in your shop.“ Calek said and stretched his metal fist.
    „No, I have not . . .“
„Shut up!“ The towering large mercenary said and kicked into the man‘s stomach.

    Sector-27

Taccata nodded and turned to lead the way. he lead them deeper into Sector-27 and then finally he took a giant tunnel that looked like a sewer exit not used in decades. Inside he seemed to know exactly where he was going. Aliens slept in the entrance area and cursed them in languages none of them knew as they passed through, before turning in their dirty blankets away. Taccata used the light on his blaster rifle to show the way. Finally they arrived in a large hall, where a humming device charged with energy.

A dozen large black robed creatures lurked there, obviously lead by one smaller version of them, who seemed to be female.

    „The Boys“

They all readied their weapons, as the group entered and Taccata howled at them.

„Stay calm my friends. An old friend is coming to visit and he has brought company.“ The voice came from the shadow, where two red eyes appeared and then a blue skinned Chiss woman in a simple black dress stepped forward. Her clothing looked like a uniform without any insignia. Madalya Tovell, the Black Thorn herself, greeted Taccata with a cold smile. „Have you reconsidered my dear?“ She asked the large Wookiee and passed her guards with graceful steps.

Taccata shook his head and growled, but even his growl was far less confident then any of his behavior so far. Tovell‘s smile vanished. „A shame. Then I assume you are in the service of Mister Vector here.“ She said and looked at Valerius. „Or do you just help out your Wookiee brother Chewbacca?“ She asked and turned her head to Chewie. Redmon cleared his throat. „I am the mysterious one, it seems.“ He whispered to Valerius and tried to stay in the background as much as possible.

    Sera Romar
    The Lounge of the Nightflier

She entered the lounge and stayed near the corridor to the cockpit. She had heard some pieces of the discussion that had broken out. She had to correct her first impression. These guys were no group, they seemed as wildly mixed as their uniforms implied. Kilara was obviously from the other team, the blind girl had Jedi written all over it and somewhere the old man had to be and probably was of another faction entirely, or of none. The boy was the mystery. He seemed to be a lost little boy, but hell did the girls fight over him. He was not that good looking, but he was hell of a shot. Improbable good. Even Sera with her limited abilities in the force could easily say he was strong in the force. Kilara stated that Canos would be able to sense where they were going, because of Tanee, the blind girl. Well, that was probably bad? The way she said it Sera had the feeling Canos was bad news.

„Well, sorry if I interrupt, but can someone tell me who these guys are? I probably pissed them off by taking you with us and I would really know who I am now adding to my list of enemies.“ She said and folded her arms, leaning against the blast-door.

    Vanlu Teslisi IC:
    ~Orbit above Obroa-Skai~

Before he knew it, Vanlu was coming out of hyperspace and the planet of Obroa-Skai came into view. A much different place than the one he had just left, in many ways. While he wondered how long this planet would be safe from their mysterious attackers, he was still relieved beyond to be there. It had been the first time in what felt like years that he could let a breath without fear of dying.

As his X-Wing flew something akin to leisurely along the now ragtag fleet that was appearing in orbit all around them, he took quick stock of the twelve starfighters that were left from the attack on the Interdictor. His included.

Three D-Wings, one of which was Green Leader and nine X-Wings. One of which was him. Was Vlo still with them? He didn’t trust himself to speak just yet, so allowed himself to wait and find out soon enough.

Still the kessurian did have a sobering thought. Was his brief time as Red 7 coming to an end? So soon? Given the bureaucracies of the Third Republic, it wouldn’t surprise him. After all that had just transpired, it would be sad to go back to his old mechanic life.

He allowed himself to close his eyes for a moment and heave a sigh.

Where would they have him go anyway? The Eternal Justice was gone. All those he had served with were gone…except for, hopefully, Vlo. Upon a little bit of thought and a glance around himself he figured the Sunrider was the likeliest bet.

Only the Force knew for sure, he’d just have to trust it knew what it was doing. It’s what the Jedi always said supposedly. Not that he knew any personally.
