After competing three years on the trot, I intend to spectate. Besides, CE is that week and I'll hardly be spending much time online

He's linked the Link Machine before, plenty of times. I thought he meant he was going to make it not work for other players.

 

I would like to play, but of course I would need a partner as well.

 

Here's the skinny... I'm going to be away for July... but I could more than likely find a day on which I could try to be on. If someone wants to team up with me, I'd be happy to help

After the first trivia contest I did prohibit the winners from teaming up again next year, so there is precedence.

Btw, I'm mainly on the Saga and Resource Boards and frequently on the Before board. I'm not too familiar with Beyond though . . .

 

I think in the future that there should be a rule about the last year's winners competing again.

Yes, but it's the principle of the thing, like not letting the same story win Best Drama four times in a row.

 

No, it's not the principle of the thing. This is an ENTIRELY different contest from last year. It's like saying people who have won Best Drama or Best Short Story should not be allowed to compete next year. I'm not trying to win on the same questions as last year. These are new questions and everyone out there has an equal chance to win EACH TIME the trivia game comes around. Taking us out of the competition doesn't level the playing field because it already is level.

 

No, it's not. The questions are different each time, and each year every team has an equal chance of winning. You shouldn't be penalized just because your team happened to be the one who got the most answers right/sent them in the fastest the last time.

 

Actually, it's not like the Best Drama example at all.

For instance, we don't tell winners of the Dare Challenge that they aren't eligible during the next one. Because it's a whole new game, a different challenge.

Nor do we tell a writer who won best Drama for "Anakin was a Whiner!" that they can't win the drama category again next year for "Obi-Wan Saves Qui-Gon"

Each time the team or player has to overcome a whole new set of obstacles. It's Herman's challenge, but I don't really think it's fair to say past winners can't play. There's no precedent for it in the context you mention.

It's a different contest. Everyone starts fresh.

Personally, I think that the winners of the previous Contest should be split up and forced to team with absolute n00bs . . . but that's just me.
