Bit off a difference between fundamentally inaccurate and not definitive isn't there? You're right thought, it's not a big deal, I defer to your superior 30-something year old wisdom.

 

And here I thought it was aimed at 40-something year old gamers who like well-thought out universes, and a love of Star Wars and RPGs in general.

In any case, I think a historical comparison to RPGs in general reveals the true answer - "critical NPCs" traditionally don't get statted because (a) munchkins stupidly try to kill off such characters for the sake of it is as old as roleplaying itself and (b) they are more of a 'story element' than true characters to interact with. Note that Lando wasn't really 'statted', he was provided only with the details that would be enough for the types of interactions he would have with PCs in The Jewel of Yavin. If Vader shows up in your adventure, it's time to run. If you run into Luke and you try to kill him, you fail.
And honestly, it's better for the players to feel like they're the stars of their own adventures, instead of something like those old Forgotten Realms modules where the players kill a handful of orcs while the real heroes are battling archdevils on the other side of the battlefield.

 

*Finally* received my Hutt book from Coolstuffinc today. Just about to dive in. Looks like I have more to preorder, though - Fly Casual looks great!
