Amph FAO U.S. Netflixers: Black Mirror

What in the actual ****? I thought this was one of the dumbest episodes.

 

It just plays right into my neo-noir wheelhouse, I guess. I think both Andrea Riseborough and Kiran Sonia Siwar are fantastic. Siwar's character just felt so iconic to me, like she'd stepped out of a noir film of the forties, like she'd be played by Edward G. Robinson if this episode had been an episode of The Outer Limits. The dogged, every-man investigator, crunching her peppermints. Riseborough's final scene in the episode is just amazing acting; all wordless. Beautifully shot, of course. And the big reveal at the end . . . man, it landed on me like a ton of bricks. When the camera showed

I literally grabbed my head with both hands and screamed out loud. So, so, so, so satisfying. For whatever reason, it just really got to me emotionally.

 

I watched it again, as I think I've only scene it once and wanted a reminder of the ending. I did enjoy it, although I think

her reaction to the ex boyfriend was a little overboard

And other thing, rogue, I don't know what sort of mutations you have in your area that causes gigantic-ism, but

that wasn't a hamster, it was a guinea pig

 

I have genuinely never known the difference.

 

It’s about size. One will fill up your butt, the other is a hamster.

 

I'd ask where a gerbil fits in, but I've heard enough Richard Gere jokes for one lifetime.

Article is claiming a reinvention. Let's hope so since Season 5 was lackluster.

 

I hope reinvention isn’t a code word for we now suck and are catering to an American audience.

Aaron Paul in a flight suit. Loved his tiny bit VO in season 4.

 

I watched the teaser, which I never do. I was very much not a fan of Season 5. All three of the season 5 episodes are in my bottom six of the entire show, if that tells you anything. I would love for the show to come back and actually be excellent again. I love the show pre-season 5 and I've kind of just been pretending Black Museum was the series finale (as I think it's kind of perfect as that) since season 5. Has anybody heard how many episodes? The news stories I looked at didn't say.

Also, I think they had the shot at changing in order to cater to an American audience and then sucking because of it when they jumped to Netflix with Season 3 and not only did they not do that, I think the show got better; season four is actually probably my favorite. Of course, I am American. BUT Season One is my second favorite! Still, I would say Striking Vipers and Rachel, Jack & Ashley Too feel like the most American episodes of the series and they were in season 5. Anyway, yeah, I hope season six is a return to form.

Also, some people online are saying that Aaron Paul in a spacesuit proves that we're getting an in-game sequel to USS Callister. I highly doubt that and even if it's true, that's a pretty huge leap to make from that tiny clip. Probably more like he liked the show which is why he did the VO bit and so this time around, they wrote an actual part for him. Could be.

 

I doubt it’ll be connected to Callister other than maybe a tongue in cheek reference.

The only info I can find about episodes is them stating it will be more than 3.

@Lord Vivec do you watch this? Some of the plot from the first half of the fifth episode of the sixth season is pulled right from posts you’ve made on here.

 

I have not watched this, no. Is it good?

 

I mean YMMV as always. I think you’d like it. But if nothing else, I do think you’d love the first thirty mins of the episode I mentioned.

edit: actually, it’s an anthology where the general theme is tech that’s supposed to benefit has an adverse affect. So yeah, you’ll love it.

 

The first episode was excellent.

The final ‘twist’ I realized was what we were watching. But the way it’s revealed with a known actor was spot on.

The lameness of that - which you are making a joke about being lame is what makes it work.

It’s a show about a lame person. And that’s the low hanging fruit all of them have. I like that her ‘Rogue Cut’ isn’t even done as well as a real rogue cut like our protagonist has.

The way her ex is set up it was hilarious to me when he showed up.

Wish we saw actual Rogue’s Ex.

 

The first episode was pretty good.
