I think some time ago there was a user with the name "JJ_Abrams" and I was all saying either we should get some confirmation that he's the real deal or he should be banned from using that name. Didn't really find out what happened to him, but I'm assuming it was the latter.

Yeah, if there isn't a rule against impersonating people, then maybe there should be one.

So I'm reading the next book (Star Wars: The High Republic: Convergence), the book that I think you're supposed to read in the adult series of novels, the one that takes place after that one Jedi's Master gets turned to dust.

And I don't know what's going on or who these characters within Star Wars: The High Republic: Convergence are...

Is there a guide for me out there?

Here's the official guide from starwars.com. It's as good a place to get your bearings as any.

It sounds like the one you just read was Light of the Jedi; if so, The Rising Storm is the next adult novel in the series. Convergence takes place 150 years in the past, which is why the characters aren't familiar.

    Tell me...

How does it feel being The Positive Fan (implying that you're the only one)?

    Must be lonely, eh?

(Seriously though, I'm a positive fan myself; I feel it.)

Edit: Also, thanks. I think I read The Rising Storm. That's the last one of Phase 1, right?

It's been a while since I read the last one and I can't remember the title so maybe I'm getting confused.

    Never mind...

I've read Star Wars: The High Republic: The Fallen Star as my last High Republic book.

Yeah, I totally misinformed you. Greatstorm was dusted in The Rising Storm, not Light of the Jedi. Sorry about that. (Yes, I'm at the point where they're all starting to run together.) That means The Fallen Star would be the next adult novel in the series, and represents the end of phase I at least as far as the adult novels go. And if you've read that one, then yeah, you can either jump back in time to Convergence or move ahead to The Eye of Darkness. You'll probably want to stick with Convergence I think; I haven't read Eye of Darkness yet but it's my understanding that it does pick up on some threads from phase II.

It does get a little lonely out here, you know, being the one and only positive fan and all, but someone's got to keep the flame alive! LOL I kid, of course. The layer of cynicism can get a little thick at times, but plenty of folks here remember that Star Wars is something that should make us happy and allow it to do so more often than not.

@InterestingLurker I keep an Excel file of all the novels and their timeline so I can keep track of what I've read / what I own and where it fits together. Here's a cropped section of the High Republic era books. "ON" = original novel; "YA" = young adult novel; "S" = script (audio drama). The YA novels for the High Republic are very very good (except Midnight Horizon which bored me to death). The year and BBY is how many years "before the Battle of Yavin," the timeline used for Star Wars publishing. For example, Episode I is 32 BBY, meaning Phase 1 starting at 232 BBY is 200 years before Episode I; Phase 2 being 382 BBY is 350 years before Episode I. I think that's where your understandable confusion came from, because Phase 2 is a prequel series to Phase 1. Then Phase 3 goes back and acts as a sequel to Phase 1. They're published in the same manner as the films were released. Once you factor in the young readers and the comics, it really does get quite confusing to keep up with the timeline order.

Do you think the Star Wars galaxy had generative A.I? You know like we have where it generates original art in seconds? It will probably be bootstrapped in at some point in the future

I feel like I recall near the start of the Tarkin novel, he was using something like that to simulate his new uniform. Not Midjourney-level insanity, but it was simulating with prompts. I think they were trying to go for something like that when Mara was shopping for a wedding dress in Union, but it ended up looking more like someone throwing self-designed ideas at her.

I kind of got an AI vibe when they connected all those thousands of droids together in High Republic to predict where the hyperspace emergences would occur. I know that's technically probably just fancy data analytics.

Also, imagine Thrawn's reaction to AI generated "art."

    Here's a question:
How many Jedi Siblings Teams are there?
I know of Tiplee and Tiplar.
I've heard of Ceret and Terec.

I would assume the concept has been explored elsewhere. Are there any other examples anyone can come up with?

I don’t know where else to put this but I like how Amazon has a more intuitive system than marvel does when it comes to comics. Amazon groups them by volume while marvel unlimited groups them by nothing. You need to read each issue individually.

maybe I don’t know how to use marvel unlimited. If there is a way to read by volume I would.

isn’t AI just fancy data analytics?

Are we just ignoring the two most obvious examples?

    Also, Alema and Numa Rar.

Yes, ignore the most obvious, lest the question give me nothing new. :p
Thanks for the reminder of those two cases, I'm trying to draw some conclusions on a very curious topic.

In Legends, did Leia ever wear those hairbuns before or after ANH?

In the classic Marvel SW comics she wore them all the time in strips set after ANH but prior to TESB coming out.

Some flashback stories set before ANH, like the one with Giles The Weapon Master, also had her wearing them.

Have there ever been an examples of special strategies to win or do well in Sabacc in Legends or Canon?

Is there anything that states definitively how old Maul was when Sidious took him as an apprentice?

Not definitively, no. In Legends, Maul was born in 54 BBY; Wookieepedia claims this is the date in canon also but unfortunately sources that, as Wookieepedia so often does, to a sketchy magazine that was probably just repeating the Legends date without differentiating between canon and Legends. Timelines then gives us an estimated date of 40 BBY for when Sidious took him on. Putting both of those together means Maul may have been 13-14 years old when he was apprenticed to Sidious - but you have to rely on a couple of estimated-at-best dates to get there.

Was it ever touched upon how magnetically sealed surfaces make blaster bolts ricochet off them like a tennis ball on rackets?

I ask because it was in the original movie and had decades to be referenced.

So Star Wars: The High Republic: Convergence is about the conflict between E'ronoh and Eiram, right?

Oh God, I'm misspelling those planets' names.

Phantu Zenn is the heir to the Throne on Eiram and saved Captain Xiri A'lbaran from the ocean (or are "Xiri" and "A'lbaran" two different people?).

Serrena wants to sabotage any peace between the two planets.

She serves a Mother of some sort.

Axel Greylark gets arrested in Part One: The Bargain at a casino. He is the son of Kyong Greylark, the then-Chancellor of the Republic (along with the other one).

Do I have that all correct?

(I'm reading this in conjunction with Star Wars: The High Republic: Midnight Horizon, btw)

I could be wrong, but I almost think that was another example of ray shields and how only physical objects can pierce them as opposed to blasters/energy. Maybe there is some kind of parallel with magnetic-sealing. Either way, you are right and it honestly should have come up more often than it has. There's a handful of movie things like that, which is always strange considering the length and breadth of the EU.

Where was the phrase "battle meditation" first used?
