I definitely want to see No Direction Home and Don't Look Back both . . . that Cash clip is humorous; Dylan appears a little, er, nervous would maybe be the word. :p

Maybe I'm crazy; I still can't believe there are people who don't love Dylan. How can you not? And that clip made me remember that I feel the same way about Johnny Cash.

Any number of others really, but I thought those two were at least tangentially related to this thread. :p

And that documentary sounds sidesplittingly funny. Ironically, I think Dylan's Christian period is a little overlooked; Slow Train Coming, at least, can stand beside his other albums without looking like a slouch.

They must have acquired another copy of "Don't Look Back" because now it is available...I've heard a lot of good things about it.

Apparently Dylan acted as a disc jockey in Britain:

Review from this week's EW on Dylan's radio show:

"Theme Time Radio Hour with Your Host, Bob Dylan (XM)

DJ M.O. Each set of songs has a strict subject ("the weather", "Mother's Day", "drinking") along with music-loving trivia asides and wry tone poems from the bard.

Playlist: Dean Martin, the Carter Family, Irma Thomas

Patter: "Slim Harpo worte a bunch of songs with his wife, Lavelle. Boy, I wish I had a wife like that, to help me write songs."

Keep the Day Job? Don't begrudge Dylan his part-time gig. "Theme Time" is tight in concept and delightfully freewheelin'.

    Grage: A"

There is a rumor at The Dylan Pool that says that the new Dylan album will be called "Modern Times" and will be released in the U.S. on August 8th.

Also, it is said to be believed that "Modern Times" will conclude the trilogy consisting of 1997's "Time Out Of Mind" and 2001's "Love and Theft"

    These are only rumors though.

If his new one is even half as good as Time Out of Mind or Love and Theft, it'll be one of the best albums of the decade so far.

    Hey, new album confirmation!

Alan Dean from Sony/Columbia has confirmed that "Modern Times" is his new album and it will be released Tuesday, August 29th in the U.S.

I prefer the rumored August 8th date myself.

    From rollingstone.com

Bob Dylan?s ?Modern Times? Coming This August
We just got a sneak preview of his upcoming album, Modern Times, due out on August 29th. Times, which Dylan produced himself, mixes elements of 2001?s Love and Theft ? blues variations (think ?Cry A While?) and whimsical ballads (think ?Floater?) ? with the darker, swampier vibe of the Daniel Lanois-produced classics Time Out of Mind and Oh Mercy. Only Dylan?s current touring band plays on the new one: ringing in our ears was the bone-chilling vamp ?Ain?t Talkin??, which may be Dylan?s most powerful album-closing epic ever. Other song titles include ?Thunder On the Mountain,? ?Spirit on the Water,? ?Workingman?s Blues,? ?When the Deal Goes Down? and ?Neddy Moore.? Before the release of Modern Times, Dylan will be doing another summer tour of minor league ballparks, with Merle Haggard opening.

Wow, sounds impressive. But if this "Aint Talkin" is better than "Desolation Row", I'll eat my hat.

That statement about "Ain't Talkin'" can mean anything. "Poweerful" could refer to the sound or perhaps the lyrics. I hope that this isn't all pre-release hype that deosn't amount to anything.

And apprently, some musos in NY got to hear the album at a private get-together on June 6th.

Ain't Talking is going to have to go a long way to be his best album closer, that is for darn sure.

But I'm looking forward to Modern Times.

Wow, that sure is odd. Alicia Keys mentioned in a Dylan song? I'll have to wait to see the context of it, lyrically, and perhaps hear Dylan's comments before I pass judgement.
