Yeah he's so good at it that I actually hope he isn't Ezra now so I can watch this all play out.

Side note: Steven Seagal doesn't have the acting chops to play Thrawn. There, I said it.

I think he'll show up at some point. Can't see it being this series though, maybe series 3.

AGREED!! I was only commenting on the first depiction of Thrawn.

I absolutely do not want that idiot playing Thrawn in any way, shape, or form!!!

He's not only a terrible actor. He's also a stooge for the Russian and Belorussian governments.

Have we learned about what exactly the Empire did to Mandolore yet? If not, I wonder if Thrawn will be the one responsible for it.

Yeah, I mainly meant the latter part, but the former doesn't impress, either....

Nope. We know Bo-Katan (wielding the Darksaber) and her followers set out to liberate from the Empire prior to the Original Trilogy, but we know now that Gideon carries the Darksaber, Mandalorians are apparently rare in the galaxy, and Din has heard rumors that Mandalore is "cursed" to which Bo-Katan tells him "Don't believe everything you hear."

Based on all of that, it seems like Bo-Katan's uprising failed, but after the Empire crumbled it seems like they likely lost their grip on the planet as well. I wouldn't be shocked if there was a third party holding it now.

So I guess it’s safe to say Thrawn probably will NOT be showing up in the Mandalorian, with Ahsoka having her own show.

Given the announcement that Ahsoka and Rangers of the New Republic are both spinoffs of The Mandalorian, and that there will be an "event" that spans the three shows, I guess maybe that could be the big Thrawn payoff?

Gotta say, I wish The Mandalorian wasn't breeding ground for direct spinoff stuff. But I guess we'll see how this Marvel-styled crossover thing plays out...

Mayfeld also compared the current status of Mandalore with that of Alderaan, which doesn't sound good.

Can’t be. Thrawn has been MIA for a decade at this point.

Just finished reading Chaos Rising and there was a part where Thrawn is visiting an art gallery and he says; "The history of the Ascendancy is in these rooms, some of the pieces dating back to Chiss participation in the wars between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire." Now that's a three way fight I'd love to see. Thinking also that Thrawn is going to be the main villain moving forwards in Mando, Ahsoka and Rangers but I think you'll get some ambiguity with his character. After all, he's been consistent that a greater threat exists to the galaxy and he was looking for allies to fight against this as he feared for the future of the Ascendancy, and I think will still be his primary focus. I quite like the idea of the good guys having to make an alliance with Thrawn to protect against this threat at some point and we get some serious Chiss Ascendancy and Mandalorian team up action out in the Unknown Regions.

Is it? Never heard the Chiss being mentioned as being involved in the Old Republic era tbh, was that in the earlier Thrawn books as it's been a long time since I've read them.

No SWTOR. The Chiss had an alliance with the Sith Empire

Nice one. I take it that's the online multiplayer game then. Makes sense I'd never heard of it as I've never played it.

If they’re going to have the shows be interconnected and build up to a big “event” probably Siege of Mandalore II. Then Thrawn being the overarching Thanos-esque final boss baddie would make perfect sense imo.

I think Thrawn will appear after the climatic event as a cota teasing a new series or film saga.

I don't say this in critical way at all, but I can't help but wonder why so many people want Star Wars to follow the exact same formula of MCU: a lot of little stories of a lot of main characters that finally come together to fight an "unbeatable" big baddie that is obviously going to, you know, get beaten in the end.

I would love to het something more nuanced than that. Bo Katan could/should go against Mando now. Boba and Fennec should be out of the picture for good, since they don't own anything anymore to Mando. He can stick around Cara Dune and Greef Karga in Nevarro, but the Armorer and his former clan should reject him because of his transgressions to the code (that Bo Katan could easily use to her advantage).

And Thrawn, in that line, could just as easily seek alliances of his own and creating dissent between these allies without going "I´m so unbeatable I can take on anyone". Not saying that it would be terrible, but I´m expecting something a little less straightforward...
