That is a very cool fight.. It's all about the details...Smith block a strike from Neo, and Neo extends his finger tips that connect with Smith's Adam's Apple.. Hilarious and awesome at the same time..

    [face_devil] "You're EMPTY!"
    "so are you."
    (pause)

The train dodge, and what neo had to do to get that agent off his back, was pretty sweet.

It was probably the best fight scene of the trilogy, absolutely brilliant. :D

Bah, the best fights are still in the Bud Spencer/Terrence Hill spaghetti westerns... [face_talk_hand]

I disagree with that asesment. The best fight scene of the whole trilogy is the Burly Brawl.

I don't care much for the burly brawl.

The burly brawl I found a yawn. The subway fight is outstanding, and showed how today's technology could create epic comic-book style fights for the cinema. It really is spectacular.

The Burly Brawl and Neodammerung both pale compared to this, I think.

The burly brawl was just plain silly.

The best scene is on the dual-staircase. I never get tired of watching that fight. It's so beautiful.

I love that fight as well. That fight and the Neo/Seraph fight are my top faves from Matrix Reloaded.

    2. The Protector
    Tony Jaa vs. everybody

As an attempt to sell Tony Jaa to American audiences, The Protector didn't quite pan out. But it contains a scene of such crazed genius and technical mastery that it warrants the #2 spot on this list. As Jaa ascends the circular staircase of a hotel, he brings the pain to scores of opponents, twisting arms, breaking glass, and throwing people off balconies. It's all captured in a stunning five-minute tracking shot (it's the Russian Ark of action sequences) that seems like it's getting winded just keeping up.

The movie has it's ups and it's downs, but that staircase sequence is absolutely brilliant. Definitely had to be a pain to pull off, but man.. It makes the movie completely worth watching.

    1. Rocky
    Rocky Balboa vs. Apollo Creed

Here it is -- the most influential and iconic bout in the history of Hollywood. Rocky's battle with Apollo Creed has been reworked in countless ways across numerous genres; it's evoked in virtually every scrappy-underdog tale. However, none have been quite able to match the original for spine-tingling tension. Even its over-familiarity (it plays on Jumbotrons in sports arenas virtually every night) hasn't dulled its impact; in addition to being breathlessly exciting and dramatically potent, it doesn't end quite the way you'd expect.

I find it very interesting that The Dark Knight is finding its way into everything.

The lack of Raging Bull in the countdown list can only evoke total disdain from me. La Motta vs. Sugar Ray owns ninety percent of the fights on the list and it's a heck of a lot better than the Rocky one.

I absolutely agree...I expected it in the list, and it did not appear. Odd.
