That's very concise. As someone with your writing interests and talents, would you be interested to expand on your narrative? Does Vanora have any deeper personal motives for her interest in the healing arts and the relic? How do her Jedi peers relate to such a discovery? Do the more 'warrior type' Knights understand her perspective on this aspect of the Force? How did she feel about being the Force's chosen instrument in such a discovery? Or anything else that you might want to include for character development and for us to get to know Vanora better as you continue to create her.

    @Voss Fulris

"The main tip I can give you Voss is this; always keep focused and do not lose concentration. For if you do, your telekinetic connection with your lightsaber will break and you will have to refocus and regain control of your weapon. This will give your enemy more time to think up a strategy to defeat you," I nod affirmatively and then remember my Jedi ancestors who were some of the greatest wielders of telekinesis.

I began to wonder how Voss would go in this duel after our encounter in the Rancor Pit. He was growing in leaps and bounds in regards to lightsaber combat and was quickly becoming my equal, possibly even greater than his Master.

    @Ananta Chetan - great follow-ups.
    :)

Does Vanora have any deeper personal motives for her interest in the healing arts and the relic?

Vanora was training on her home world before coming to Saridona Prime and although she has some nascent empathy, she always felt frustrated in being able to help those patients whose emotions interfered with their recovery or who were dealing with emotional struggles.
Vanora feels the Healing Stones, as well as her developing Force skills/awareness, will go a long way in making her a well-rounded healer.

How do her Jedi peers relate to such a discovery?

Vanora's fellow Knights are bursting with curiosity and the Healers are eager to learn the ins and outs of such a healing artifact. The Librarians comb the archives with keen anticipation for any details on how to use them.
Vanora gets the impression that the stones have no hard-and-fast mode of operation; it is simply more of an empathic/intuitive attunement.

Do the more 'warrior type' Knights understand her perspective on this aspect of the Force?

The soldier/action oriented Knights tended to scoff at the need for such a modality.
"Ha! Tough it out!" They said or "Naw! Don't need it!"
But the ones who were honest ... would admit to being glad such things were available.

How did she feel about being the Force's chosen instrument in such a discovery?
Vanora felt honored and excited to go on such a venture, to a legendary world and to bring back an artifact which could help Jedi Healers eradicate the subtler, intangible aftereffects of traumatic experiences.
She knew that even after the body's visible scars were healed, there were underlying ones, which even "talk therapy" could only go so far to help ease. The Stones would be a necessary prelude/adjunct to such therapies.

Interesting and well thought out replies.

Imagine a scenario where an aging Jedi Master approached you to gain relief from their physical suffering by utilizing the stones but that your intuition as a healer told you that it was the will of the Force and for their own good that they instead bear the conditions. How would you approach and handle such a situation?

IC: Vanora Cinali in Healers' Wing

Vanora sighs and feels a surge of deep frustration.
She wants to comply with the Jedi Master's wishes, yet she also senses that his aches and pains are the result of a warrior's life combined with the process of aging. How to share this, give him a realistic picture? She wonders, then calls him in for a follow-up appointment.

"Exercise can only ameliorate so much." She tells him sympathetically. "I can use the stones, however, to take the brunt off, so you can regain more mobility and comfort, even for your activities of daily living, and hopefully, eventually, even expand your range of motion and enjoyment of light recreation."

He smiles at her genuine concern and thoughtful recommendations. "Thanks for not giving me a bunch of cliches and brush-offs." He says gratefully.

Vanora laughs. "Cliches are like fluffy maringue on a pastry. They dissolve rather quickly."

With a pragmatic strategy to follow, the Master's mood lightens in direct proportion to the use of the stones and also having something tangible to strive towards.
Vanora also listens raptly to his reminiscences and "gripping adventures" of run-ins with pirates and wannabe Sith. He is a very good story-teller with many snarky asides to go with the action details.

I followed my Master’s instructions, keeping a keen focus and maintaining my concentration. Keeping the lightsaber stable, let alone giving it any purpose in combat, was proving challenging enough. It was doable, but the effort required was mentally draining and I could feel my mind begin to tire.

Parrying the first few incoming strikes, I started to relax into the exercise and get into the zone. I felt a touch of excitement at engaging with the technique and was eager to continue. However, through my enthusiasm I was able to see the situation with some objectivity: I was parrying effectively, but each movement was slow and sloppy.

I bowed my head and raised my hands.

“Master, much as though I would like to continue this dual and I am enjoying it, I must yield. You have taught me to push myself to my limits to find out what I am capable of. Yet also, you have taught me to acknowledge my limitations and beware of overreaching. Today, I have developed my telekinesis and reached a new level. However, I recognise that now I must take time to practise what I have learnt today. Maybe we can come back to this exercise in the future? It is a skill I would very much like to explore further”.

    @Voss Fulris

"I am glad you have taken those lessons out of today's exercise my padawan. And we certainly can come back to it once you have practiced some more with telekinesis and have learnt some more techniques," I bow to my padawan and return to my private quarters.

I know that in time, Voss will become stronger in using telekinesis as an available Force power and will also be able to put it to good use if and when the need arises.

I would like to award @Voss Fulris 3 Force Points please @Bardan_Jusik

(Finally beginning my response to Master Tython's mission, this will be posted in multiple parts [2, maybe 3] over the next few days as I finish it)

    IC: Sanchari
    Hunting down a stolen child

Sanchari paused on the glow-lamp lit street, leaning nonchalantly against a wall as she pretended to dig through the satchel at her side. In truth she was scanning the building behind her through the Force, getting a feel for the layout of the area and any beings nearby. The street wasn't crowded, but it wasn't empty either. She had confirmed, with some local contacts Master Tython had provided, that this was the building the kidnapped child was seen being taken into. The building from outside looked like a tech shop, spare droid parts and such. It was odd, though, there was a burly Gamorian lounging outside the door. Spare parts shops don’t usually have (or need) toughs hanging around.

“Hey, you!” The Gamorian grunted in barely understandable Basic. “What you doing here, Ryn?”

Sanchari looked up, feigning surprise as the guard looked her up and down. Sanchari was dressed like a typical member of her species: a bright colorful skirt, blouse, more jewelry than was really practical for her current mission, and splashes of color highlighting her short purple-black fur.

“Ah, hello!” The Ryn said brightly, “I be digging out the scanner that I be needing a part for, too much stuff be in my bag here. I have some spare parts that I be wanting to sell, too.”

“Shop is closed.” The Gamorian grunted again.

“Oh, when will it be opening?”

“Not soon. You go, little thief.”

Sanchari put her hands on her hips and gave a great show of being offended. “How dare you! You be loosing your store a good customer, I be never returning to THIS store.”

She turned and stomped away until she was out of the guard's sight. Then slipped into an alley and activated a droid beacon. A few minutes later, BZ rolled into the alley.

“BeeZee, did you get a good scan of the building?”

BZ warbled that there was some shielding further down that blocked some of the scans, and life signs had been difficult to pinpoint. Sanchari's distraction at the door, though, gave enough time to do a couple good scans of the levels near the surface and leave some hidden sensors continuing to monitor the building. BZ switched on its holoprojector and displayed a map of the building.

“I felt the minds of two beings right about here,” Sanchari murmured. BZ added two red dots where she indicated. “Their minds be slow and simple like the guard I talked to. They be standing outside a door, it looks like. I also felt someone upstairs, here. That one be more crafty, he may be the boss Master Tython told me to be staying away from.”

    BZ whistled in excitement suddenly.

“Really? The Force be with us, BZ. If he be leaving, now be our chance!”

Sanchari and BZ made their way quickly and silently through the alleys to the back of the building they had been in front of earlier. She removed her disguise as she went, beneath it she wore a simple sleeveless Jedi tunic and pants. It amused Sanchari that she considered the clothing she was stuffing into her satchel a costume. For the average female Ryn it was just everyday clothes, but Sanchari had never really worn them before. Not many bright colors in the slave camp of her childhood; her clothing on the Casino ship was bright and flashy, but usually consisted of miniscule bodysuits and leotards; and nowdays, she wore Jedi clothes all the time. She shrugged to herself at the oddity of life as she scrubbed the bright paint from her fur and tied a dark cloth over her white hair.

"Go get the speeder we rented, BeeZee, when I be calling you, we will be needing to leave here very quickly." Sanchari instructed. BZ chirped and rolled away.

Sanchari checked that the training saber she had been issued was ready on her belt, secured the satchel of supplies, and climbed up the building to the open second-story window. She swung herself over the sill and into a dark room. Taking a deep breath to calm and center herself, Sanchari reached out with her mind, locating nearby presences in the Force. She silently began to work her way down the hall towards the stairs she had seen on BZ's map. The missing child was somewhere in the levels below, and she needed to find him soon...

Returning from a three-day camping trip, Vallanthe visited with Master Tython and then sent the following to Master Ananta.

Spiritual noise around the temple can leave me confused over myself. The peace of the wilderness helped me to identify my inner struggles. I observed and let pass the mental distractions which arose during meditation and separated them from my core being. But there was a recurring thought related to my task.

"I want. . . well, put simply, I want to grow into your instrument of justice."

The line conflicts with someone trying for Consular. I said these words when my heartbreak was fresher than the burns on my body. Evil people had destroyed my life, and I swore vengeance on their kind, planning to call it justice. The Guardians of Light were a means. You were a dispensary of power. I didn't consciously know for the longest time, but much of what I've said and done was tailored to please you or the others simply so that I could progress. . . gather all the secrets available here before seeking other, more forbidden places. A person can hide their own motives from themselves, letting their subconscious map out their future, avoiding guilt and accountability.

Please continue showing me patience. You're changing me not into an instrument of justice, but a better person. I promise.

    The interview.

What personality traits most favor a Consular?

Master Tython: Ah, most certainly, a Jedi Consular must be ready at all times -- *without a flinch* -- to uphold the Jedi Code in all its precepts. This is not to say Jedi are not called upon to interpret the code. They can interpret, and must, in line with the examples set by esteemed historical Jedi masters.

As far as personality traits which lend well to being a Jedi Consular -- there can certainly be no set personality traits. We, as living, growing beings, must flow within the currents of the force to find the niches that need filling. A Jedi Consular must prefer to have their lightsaber sheathed. Of course, refined literacy and vocabulary lend well towards being a consular but that is merely for consulars who must stay "amongst the books." There are many niches open to Jedi Consulars, just as there are many support positions for Jedi working "in the field." However, just because Consular may spend less time "in the field," do not be fooled into believing the work of Consular requires any less fortitude. Any Consular role is likely to test your limitations right from the start in ways you never would expect!

That's an enlightening answer. Going from your last point: what challenges or pitfalls should a newcomer to this school watch for, regardless their niche?

Master Tython: As with any area of service within the Jedi Order, there will always be pitfalls, and Jedi Consular is no exception. A consular needs to remember that they may play a key supporting role in backbone, network support to all Jedi in the field. This includes support to other Consulars and non-Consulars. Aspiring Consulars must remain humble at all times and find their niche by lending their talents to support the work of Jedi Knights further into their career.

Consulars are often called in for conflict resolution. However, there are no limits to the areas which a Consular may be called out to work in the field away from the Jedi temple.

Consulars must remain aware of how their specialty-area is needed to make Jedi fieldwork successful. We must be ready with that missing, vital piece of information. It is true; the greatest healers, seers, and prophets have come from within the ranks of Consulars. Consulars may find they are constantly engaging adversaries, though the conflict may be indirect and off the field. It is therefore difficult to determine when a Consular can disengage. Some seers have been fatally wounded due to the exhaustion that comes with engaging "the enemy" at a distance. May the Force Be with Them.

As Consulars, we also must deal in probabilities so that decision-makers can reach the best alternative. Given a "situation of political unrest," Consulars may need to analyze the possible decisions available and then assign a probability value to the alternative likely to cause the least amount of damage. Just as we may conduct an analysis for the Jedi Council, we also lend our services to the seats of friendly governments.

I see. You ride your vessel of knowledge along the streams of the Force. There are infinite networks in the galaxy, differing by planet, culture, or species of life. At a basic level, they are patterns/probabilities. It sounds to me like a Consular has to nurture a level of awareness that could be overwhelming. But maybe the awareness helps with humility. Life is complex. -- Do you have advice for a padawan who felt drawn toward the seer path?

Master Tython: The seer path is a special gift. Those who heed a call to this path may find the path chooses them. The utmost in health, nutrition, and kindness to others are necessary in this path to ensure that one's intentions towards others are pure. Seers must never use their abilities for personal gain. The healing arts are a helpful requisite to this path.

    How would you define wisdom?

Master Tython: Wisdom often concerns the application of what one knows in order to reach a best decision. We must constantly be evaluating our decisions; thus, we can only look at a given situation and find wise choices. We can also find wise choices of words given "difficult" or "pressurized-situations."

Beings of all ages may demonstrate wisdom. Thus, there is no set age at which the quality of wisdom may appear in one's choices. I can further attest that it is possible to lose wisdom due to negative peer influence.

Wisdom generally concerns the application of what one knows rather than a gross accumulation of facts. Someone deemed a "factotum" due to the amount of knowledge they can quote must apply that knowledge appropriately in order to show wisdom. The trait of wisdom separates the gathering of facts from the application of such information to a situation. Conservation, modestly, humility, and service to others are qualities we can associate with wisdom.
