Andrew watched as team cutlass took out some jackals and an elite. That was as good a distraction as any. "Team scimitar is requesting cover fire and some large distractions so we can get them while they're not looking. Oh yeah take out those hunters. I don't want to go home with a nice large hole in my chest."

All of a sudden a smile flicked across Andrew's face. "Hey Kyle, ever want to know what happens when a plasma grenade gets attached to the neck of a hunter?"

Northeast of the Grav-lift

The Kig-Yar yelped as the large bullet found its way into his shoulder. Reacting quickly, the lithe creature quickly found a safe spot behind a nearby crate.

Hoisting its Beam Rifle against its wounded shoulder, Sek found a target, and a brilliant lance of violet energy speared a barely visible form, one of the Demons, likely.

"Sophia," Allie was going to ream her, "I thought you had the Sniper."

"I missed," she said, dejectedly.

"Yeah well he didn't miss Tyler."

Kyle's voice interrupted, "Quit fighting, you two. Cutlas, Excalibur, what's your status?"

"Tyler's....WIA," Allie responded. Just waiting for [b]Rick[/b] to respond. Kyle marked Tyler-G037 as WIA.

Kyle smiled, despite losing two more SPARTANs than should have been lost. At least they were enjoying themselves. "According to Intel," he replied, "It'll take more than one." He grabbed one of his own grenades,and primed it. "Plasma Out!" he shouted, sidearming the little blue fireball at the Hunter.

[i]South of the Grav-lift[/i]

The other Covenant forces were confused, looking around, trying to determine where they were being attacked from, but not the Lekgolo pair and the Commander Guri 'Senalee knew exactly where the attack came from, and who was perpetuating the attack. Lesser Demons, and there were either very many of them, or the Demons had greater powers than previously understood.

"The Demons are everywhere," 'Senalee shouted over the Battlenet, "Do not Hesitate! Merely fire and your plasma will find its way to Demonflesh. Though they may kill you, you will still come on the Great Journey when the time comes!"

Taking his own advice, 'Senalee put away his energy sword. The Demon would have to make it to him to taste his blade. For now he drew his twin Plasma Rifles and opened fire into the rocks ahead. Frightened Unggoy, confused Kig-Yar, and inexperienced Sanghelli joined their weapons in the barrage.

The twin Lekgolo were the last to fire, pointing their giant Fuel Rod Cannons at the rocks, barely able to see the shadowy Demons. Brilliant green lances of plasma tore through the smaller rocks of the Demons' cover, sending molten shrapnel from the former rocks everywhere. The Lekgolo then began alternating their fire, swinging their cannons back and forth so that the stream of fire would cover a wide swath, and because of their alternation, the Demons were under nearly constant fire.

Then a plasma grenade stuck itself to Delaro's neck, followed a moment later by another one. In a brilliant flash of blue light, Sigli Fuuru Fresdi suddenly found itself very alone -and very enraged. Abandoning tactics, the furious mass of intelligent worm charged, friendly fire ricocheting off its heavy armor. It was faintly aware of its Commander's voice, "Do not leave the Lekgolo to kill the Demons alone! Charge! Overwhelm the Demon!" but Sigli did not care, it would kill the shadowy Demon or Demons, all of them.

Amidst the chaos, Kyle made the mistake of looking up at HVOPS. Reinforcements were on their way down the grav-lift. Elite minors and Majors, and more Grunts and Jackals. The Ultra must have called down reinforcements.

IC:Robert raised his rifle and fired at a couple of grunts and one jackal. Robert turned around and saw the alien charge with a plasma grenade. Robert quickly dropped to one knee and fired instantly killing the beast. He looked at the grav-lift and threw two grenades and watched as gore flew everywhere.

IC: Bryce

While two spartans focused on taking out one of the Hunters, Bryce crept silently through the rocks, taking as much cover as possible. Even with the special armor, he could be seen. And that was the last thing he needed.

What he needed, was to take out as many of those grunts and jackals as he could, while they were distracted, shooting at the Spartans attacking the Hunters.

He clicked his comm open to the unit channel, speaking in a whisper that could be heard as if he were screaming on the other end. "Watch my back."

He holstered the shotgun in a leather sheath on his back, and pulled his combat knife from it's possition, tied upside down to the inside of his left thigh.

Leaving his crouch, he moved quickly but quietly into possition by one of the jackals on the outside of the group, as it fired towards the other team members. With lightning speed, swung his hand infront of the jackal, blade grazing his neck at the end, and punched the alien hard in the back of the head with his left hand, while jerking the blade across his throat. The Jackal went limp, flopping on the ground unable to cry out. A quiet and efficient kill. It would have been a brilliant manuvuer, if a near by Grunt hadn't seen it unfold.

The grunt cried out, and turned to fire on Bryce. Tossing his dagger in the air, he caught the weapon by the point of the blade, and threw it with deadly speed and percision into the grunts head, while drawing his left hand pistol, firing two shots into the grunt, meanwhile retreating back towards the rocks.

A Jackal had turned now, and was putting a Plasma Pistol right on him, bringing his shield to face Bryce, leaving himself open to the other Spartans.

Bryce prayed they would take the open shot.

GM's OOC: There seems to be more than a little confusion about who's on what team and which team is where. I'm posting this now to clear it all up.

Team Scimitar is in the South and consists of SephyCloneNo15, Darth_Vaders_Cousin, JediCouncilMaster, lieutenant_ketch, and CT-14.
Team Rapier is in the West and contains Randy1012, anthonythejedi, the MIA Gerald (NPC), Steve (NPC), and Lisa (NPC)
Team Cutlas is in the East and contains Tog, KraytDragon90, Sophia (NPC), Mark (NPC), and Drew (NPC)
Teams Razor and Excalibur are entirely NPC teams, along with any other teams I may mention throughout the duration of the game.

Hope that clears some of this up.

Andrew heard Bryce and watched as he killed a jackal. Unfortunately another jackal was about to shot him. Andrew tossed his grenade to Kyle. "Hit that jackal NOW!" Andrew popped out of the side of the rock opposite kyle and fired his shotgun blindly into the air but was only meant as a distraction. He hoped Kyle threw that grenade on time, or else Bryce might not make it.

Aran wathched as the huge hunter came charging at the line of sparten IIIs. "It just keeps coming... like a tank." Aran said. "Wait that gives me an idea... " he said as he pulled a lotus anti-tank mine out of his pack. "Have i ever told you that I can throw one of these like a frizbee." He said as he primed a special rig for the mine.

robert was now facing any covanant that charged. he had now gone through 4 magazines and was on auto let out uncontrolled bursts to overwhelm them fire power wise. he finished out two grunts and heard his rifle start clicking and relized it was empty. he quickly threw the gun at a grunt and rolled over to a shot gun and made sure not to get any sharp debris that would fly from the hunter. 4 jackals charged and robert made sure he had to hold so the snipers could do thier job. he quickly rolled a gernade and dived to a nearby rock and said over his com "i am being overwhelmed. help would be nice riht about now".

Nathan ran up to Rick and crouched behind a rock as the team took out their target. "Quit fighting, you two. Cutlas, Excalibur, what's your status?" Nathan clicked a green acknowledgement. "I'm fine here Rick." Nathan bent over and grabbed one of the Jackel's gauntlet shields and clicked it onto his left wrist. "What's the plan now boss?" Nathan said as he glanced onto his radar and spotted the reinforcements.

GM's OOC: *watches tumbleweed roll by*

It's quiet...too quiet. Been awhile since the last post. Partially my fault, I've been busy starting a new job with long hours, and my GMly duties haven't always been my top priority. And now I'm leaving on a Spring Break trip tomorrow, and I'll get back on Monday, just in time to spend three days occupied with our senior art show.

But enough about me. How much interest is there still in this game? If by next Thursday-ish (barring work) I see a significant portion of my SPARTANs tell me either via PM or OOC that they're still interested, I'll happily lead us into the next chapter of our mission. If not, I'll get the mods to lock this baby down and concoct some other new RP.

IC: Revelation
Heroic Virtue of the Pious Servant: Prophet's Chambers

The Lesser Prophet, Revelation, surveyed his quarry while a gold-armored Ship Master spoke. "These five are all our scouts found among the Demon corpses."

Revalation studied the Demon in the cell to his far right. Stripped of their armor, the Demons were still impressive, bearing an expression that Revelation could only assume was defiance, this one appeared to be a male. Revelation found it most interesting that both genders appeared to share the infidels' combat equally. He made a mental note to check the scriptures and determine if female warriors was another of the Humans' sins, or merely one of their many differences.

Behind the violet energy shield that became nearly transparent at its center, Revelation observed the Demon struggling against its bindings. If the rumors were true, it would no doubt break them soon, but there was extra security around these captured demons. At a whim, both Revelation and the Ship Master, Zio 'Armoho, could administer a crippling shock to any of the prisoners via their bindings. All the systems for the force fields were outside the cell, preventing any Demon tampering, and 'Armoho was more than ready to put down any jailbreaks that got past those two defenses. A pair of Huragok waited dilligently for the need to arise to repair any of the machinery in the makeshift prison.

"So, Demon," Revelation asked the male he was observing, "How are you called?"

"Gerald," the Demon replied, "SPARTAN-G035, and that's all you'll get from me." A hint of pride washed over Gerald's face at his decree.

"No, we will get all from you. You have been abandoned by your fellow Demons, left to die with no chance for glory. Clearly, they do not care about you, or about your honor. Demon though you are, you may still live to gain glory....if you cooperate."

IC: Kyle[/b]
[i]Heroic Virtue of the Pious Servant: Central Grav-Lift Chamber[/i]

The First and second waves hadn't done much damage to the SPARTANs, but with successive waves, the Covenant got smart. Banshees and Seraphs from the fleet around HVOPS harassed the SPARTANs from all angles, forcing them to fight defensively until a break came and they rushed the Grav-lift.

What started as 314 SPARTANs entered HVOPs as fewer than 125. This would demand some reorganization of the teams. Team Rapier and Razor would stay together and pick up Team Baselard, led by SPARTAN G072, Ryan. Teams Excalibur and Cutlas would be joined by Team Scimitar, minus Kyle.

Kyle would stay by the Gravity Lift, assuming control of Team Zwiehander, who had lost their leader Tom-G130 to a Banshee's Fuel Rod Cannon, and the remaining 19 teams of SPARTANs would defend the Grav-Lift, the teams only exit, and attempt to destroy HVOPS' engines so the Covies couldn't escape if things got FUBAR for the SPARTANs.

Teams [b]Rapier[/b], Razor, and Baselard would head to the right, past the Covie armory and take out the Fusion Reactor on the right side. They would be [b]Group 1[/b].

[b]Group 2[/b] would be Teams Excalibur, [b]Cutlas[/b], and [b]Scimitar[/b]. They would take the left Fusion Reactor.

[i]Hallway to the right of the Grav-Lift[/i]

After turing a corner rather far down the hallway, the SPARTANs were confronted by a brilliant green flash, a warning shot from a Hunter. They would have to get down this section of hallway under fire from one Hunter and an octet of Grunts and Jackals, who were just inside the room at the end of the hall. Another Hunter and several Elites waited for them just inside the room, but after that, they had access to the Covenant armory to replace their near-empty weapons with Covenant ones.

[i]Hallway to the left of the Grav-Lift[/i]

Group 2 was confronted by the same group of foes, without the bonus of a nearby armory. A Hunter, four Jackals and four Grunts waited just inside the room, with a trio of Elites and the other Hunter fu

 

GM's OOC:Looks like I neglected to mention the overall layout of HVOPS. It's shaped like a massive Spirit dropship. Between the two prongs is the ship they're building, supported by anti-gravity beams. The Fusion Generators are in the middle of each prong, although you have to take a circuitous route that takes you around it, through the barracks, and back. On either side of the Fusion Cores are hangars, in which the Covenant houses construction vehicles, access to the hangars will not require passage through the barracks. The Grav-lift brought us up in the bottom of the U. Directly in front of us is the sealed engine room, on one side of that is the armory, and on the other side, the sealed Prophet's chambers.

I don't think I can explain it any better without scanning my hastily scrawled map.
