Lots of flashbacks, or just going backwards in time in Episode 8.

Maybe we get a Looper time travel subplot? ;)

Is there a TFA Han Solo action figure yet?

I believe it's scheduled to come out in the spring. Although, a few have been popping up early on ebay, but they are currently going for $100+

I promise you that anonymous superfans cannot add credits or any information to an actor's site. If you really don't believe me, then try it for yourself. Again, this doesn't mean that this is the most current info, but since Kathy Kennedy said everyone on stage would be back not two weeks ago, I'm inclined to believe it's pretty accurate. And honestly, anything could happen during production. Major changes happen all the time, so nothing is set in stone really until they totally wrap.

If Lucasfilm had been acquired by HBO, or really anyone else who might be trying for Oscar/Emmy nods and ad dollars for grown up products, I would be inclined to agree that Han is toast. But this is Disney, folks. And I'm no marketing expert, but "Star Wars re-imagined as Shakespearean tragedy" strikes me as a pretty uncertain strategy for selling more toys. I could always be wrong, here, but...

By the way, Agent Coulson says "hi".

    Well I respect your tenacity.

Personally I think believing Han Solo even has a slight chance of coming back is silly. Harrison Ford seemed pretty peeved that Han wasn't killed in RotJ because "dead Han toys don't sell well". A big part of this was about honoring Harrison's wishes for the character. Yes Disney loves their $$$$ but I'd like to think they have some creative integrity especially under the microscope of us crazy unforgiving Star Wars fans.

While I agree no anonymous superfan can update IMDB it was probably updated by some sort of moderator or admin on the site because of Kathleen's comments but honestly I think her comments were said to keep everything spoiler free because TFA had JUST come out. Disney doesn't need to market Han Solo by bringing him back either especially with the Han Solo anthology coming out and by constantly stressing that this new trilogy is about the new characters (who were all extremely well received.)

Agent Coulson was also brought back for a television show. Whedon is quoted saying that as far as the movies are concerned that Coulson is dead. It's way too contrived for a general movie going audience to accept I think. It's comparative to Darth Maul's return in Clone Wars.

I mean we'll find out soon enough anyways. You bring up some decent points about Disney bringing back characters for the sake of $$$$$. Pirates of the Caribbean is the best example of this but I just have a very strong feeling (and hope) they'll handle Star Wars differently.

but hey if he does come back he better come back as "Han-dalf the White Smuggler" Badumtish.

Nice! And I totally forgot about the pirates death fake out. That was a weird one. And you are right, we will all just have to wait and see what they do.

The White Smuggler- I like it! Which reminds me, Gandalf fell down an endless chasm too, and survived (or transfigured or something). I am beginning to think that chasm-falling isn't nearly as dangerous as it looks.

At this point, I just feel that the way he went out was the perfect way to end his character arc and any attempt to bring him back to life would cheapen that sacrifice and tarnish that whole scene. I'd rather they not backpedal and try to 'fix' things to appease part of the fan base, no matter how much it hurts to see your favorite character die. The ST will be about moving forward with the new characters, anyway, and I'm perfectly fine with that. Han had his time to shine throughout the course of 4 films and I'm willing (and eager) to see what the next generation has to offer. Also, considering Disney is already up in the billions price range with the new merchandise without even releasing actions figures of the Big Three or having them prominent in the marketing, I don't think they'll have to worry about losing money by not selling Han toys for future films...well, until we get to the Han Solo Anthology film, where the cycle will start all over again.

So, with that said, I think Han is truly dead and won't be returning in the flesh in Episodes VIII or IX, but I can't rule out a brief appearance in a Force vision, flashback or something along those lines. I've read some interesting theories about Kylo really losing it to the point where he begins to hear his father's voice in his mind, taunting him and making his life a living hell.

I'm holdin out on flashback / Force vision Han because the Jedi Massacre seems like something that will be elaborated on in a force vision flashback type of deal, therefore you'd probably see Leia and Han's reaction to it, therefore Han.

But that aside, Ford was great in this, I think that needs to be restated. Way too much fun. I'm surprised that he seemed to .... genuinely enjoy it. Or at least portrayed it real well.

I think it would be interesting if Kylo grabbed Han's body before leaving the planet and put him into Carbonite as like a constant reminder to make him stronger. It would be the ultimate insult to his family who he left and also the worst kind of torture he could inflict on Han. Worse than killing him imo.

Then when he eventually comes back to the light he releases him and heals him or something....

Or you know Darth Plagueis teaches Kylo how to bring back the dead using the midichlorians like he presumably did to himself.

I think we'll see Han again, but it'll probably be an outtake from his murder scene in TFA, used as a haunting dream/vision that Kylo has. Ford's probably not going to film a new scene just for a 5-second cameo in a Kylo nightmare. Not unless Lucasfilm wants to pay him like 2 million dollars for one day of work.

Yoda said that through the Force Luke would see visions of the future, the past, old friends long gone...So, I don't see why that would be any different for someone using the dark side. Kylo having a vision of his dead father is a definite possibility!

Imagine something similar to Rey's force vision...

Kylo is "praying" to Vader's helmet, he reaches out and touches it and suddenly he's thrust into a dark vision--We see him sitting in the Millennium Falcon, he looks over into the pilot seat and sees his father, the lights cut out, lightning strikes, Chewbacca's roar is heard, and Kylo is suddenly there in the rain battle with the Knights of Ren, we hear Snoke's voice whispering to Kylo, we see a flash of young Ben from behind walking with a hooded young Luke through what looks like a temple, we hear Luke yell "NOOO!" at Vader, then we see Kylo's hand flip the switch on his cross-saber, there is another pair of hands on the weapon, he's standing on a narrow bridge now, and he looks up to see his father's pained face, his red blade thrust through Han's chest, and we watch Han fall over the railing from Kylo's POV and hear Han shout "BEN!!!"...

I know I will miss my long-time pilot Han Solo dearly, even if I'm in the good hands of Chewie (poor guy is now without his closest buddy, after so many years) and my new co-pilot Rey... :chewie::falcon:

And with regards to Han Solo, I feel that he will only appear in Episode 8 in some flashback scene... Harrison wanted to have Han die in "Return of The Jedi" via some heroic sacrifice but George Lucas was not agreeable to the idea, so the character lived on... But I think this time it's for real, as Harrison also wanted to leave the Star Wars franchise after so many years! :han:

I bet people were pretty convinced spock was dead at the end of Wrath of kahn. Then in the very next movie he's alive.
I know maybe kylo was in a simulator like in the family guy episode where stewie kills lois. Maybe there could be some time travel in episode 8 and luke goes back to before Han gets killed and saves him. I can already see the pissed off nerds storming out of the theatre![face_rofl]

It is much easier, the whole TFA movie was a force vision of Luke, that's why we often had a deja-vu feeling. o_O

That would be an intriguing cameo, add gravitas and legitimacy to a "new" Han Solo, and an obvious boost to the box office, to bookend the young Han Solo movie with one scene of Ford as Han at the beginning and at the very end. Since it's only 2 scenes, you could de-age Ford, so it looks like Han looks to be 10 years younger than he did in TFA....Maybe Ford's first scene takes place right after Ben turns on Luke and Luke leaves. We see Han's reaction a bit, and these events remind him of something in his youth when he was Ben's age. Flashback to 20-year-old Han. The last scene after the climax could be a small moment between Han and Chewie, then the Falcon hits Lightspeed, the stars turn into lines and BAM roll credits.

Given Kasdan's involvement in the script, it's possible. Ford really respects Kasdan. But chances are slim I think. You never know.

I am watching six days and seven nights right now and damn, how good did Harrison look in 1998. It would have been amazing had Lucas done the ST in the 90s instead of the PT.

I never saw the episode, but Ford did a bookend appearance as Old Indy for the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. That would actually be a fantastic way to open and close a Han Solo movie

Nah, I like the old smuggler, noble hero approach. Harrison played a 70 year old Han Solo genuinely, it wasn't like a Bruce Willis type situation.
