ST How did Maz get Anakin's and Luke's lightsaber?

Maybe or maybe not....
We shall have to wait and see.

 

The movie never gave me the impression that there were other lightsabers for Kylo to covet. And it kind of relegates his grandfather's weapon to just another saber. (Gotta catch em all)

 

Anakin's lightsaber is powerful. There is a part of Anakin force in that saber. How would you explain the Force Vision?

Kylo is after that power.

 

As to how Maz got hold of it in the first place?



And he obtained it because he's Lando Calrissian. 'Nuff said.

 

Right. And the answer to that question is probably far less interesting than the mystery of it.

Some dumbass junk trader once sold her a cool glow lamp. Turned out to be Luke's lightsaber. True story.

 

Too bad there won't be any more SW films where they could potentially tell that story...

But seriously, I would like for there to be SOME explanation (without having to read some blurb in a novel explaining it) at some point. I mean, it wouldn't take much at all-just a quick sentence. Really-that's it. No one's saying they want a whole flashback scene showing the "travels and adventures of the Skywalker lightsaber," like some music-only animated short we'd see before Toy Story 4 or something. But SOMETHING. Otherwise don't tease us like that Maz, saying "for another tiiiimmmmeeee..." all mysterious-like, and never acknowledging it again. If it's not.

Not to mention I'm sure Luke would like to know how it found its way across the decades and the galaxy, all the way back to him.

But then again, if a Sith apprentice could get chopped in half and fall down a shaft, and still come back a decade later and wreak a bunch of other havoc, then anything's possible I guess...

 

Obviously it was found on Cloud City...probably by an Ugnaught.

A bit off topic but associated with the scene......has there been any discussion regarding the bust in Maz's basement. Ive been looking through various topics with no luck. The bust reminds me of similar bust found in the jedi library. Obi Wan is looking at a bust of Count Dooku when Jocasta Nu approaches.

 

Yes. The bust is described in the Force Awakens Visual Dictionary on Maz Kanata's page. It was an old Jedi master.

Since Maz is a retired space pirate, she has many treasures stored.
