    Never*

I'm almost 30 and my mom just asked me to give her a Christmas list. Who am I to deny my own mother?? :p

*If you're over 18 and you're asking for a gift, you'd better be getting them something nice, as well. ;)

I'd say you're never too old. I still gets gifts from my parents and it's usually something I've asked for in advance. I think as you do get older, it's more appropriate to ask for certain things then wait to be surprised. As adults we tend to have most of what we need and really, who needs another toaster? MIght as well save yourself from gifting hell. ;)

    Right after they die! :p

Seriously, we never ask hubby's mom for gifts though she gives us little gifts. We don't like her to spend much on the kids either, so we tell her to get them one thing together (like a DVD or something). We usually give her cash. It always fits! :p

My mom usually sends us something. But we never ASK. I plan to give my kids gifts as long as I'm alive, even if they are more of sentimental value than monetary value. That's what I prefer anyway.

    Never.

But I have found that as you get older, people just start giving you money and letting you buy what you want for presents.

Looks like never. As long as they keep asking, you keep telling.

By the age of 14, because by 15 you should have a part-time job.

Never. My parents prefer me to give them a list, make it easier for them to choose. I also ask them what they'd like.

    Never!

They still ask me what I want and I hint as to what I would like.
I ask them what they would like, than they hint as to what they would like.

    As someone said, freebie day!

But, I do not get a whole bunch of stuff like I did as a kid. 1 to 4 items at the most.

    Other.

"As soon as you move out" is not fair to those who actually are able to move out at a younger age. Nor do I think there is a specific age, as it depends on the family, the ages of all the children, and other factors. I also see a difference between "asking" your parents for presents, and having them choose to get you a present.

I agree with YodaJeff. There may come a time when you stop telling your parents what you want for Christmas and what they should get, but I don't think there is a time when parents should stop buying gifts for their children.

Unless of course they cut you out of the will and left all their money to their pet cat Sparky. I'd take Sparky to court a la Anna Nichole Smith :p

I put never. I do tell my mother want I want which is usually a gift card because I hate her taste in things.

    Does she listen? No. [face_frustrated]
