ST I Have A Bad Feeling About This - The "Haters" Sanctuary

I wouldn't bother. Transformers are terrible and they grossed a ton. There are better movies than the average marvel stuff that don't make nearly as much etc...
A lot of the new SW fare is based on pure emotion and there is no rational argument that you can make in the near term that would convince people it was bad if it made them feel good.

About the only thing that has an impact is to not buy the product yourself.

I agree. I never liked Snoke, he looked like someone's grandpa, not a powerful dark side user capable of corrupting Leia Organa's son. I was pleasantly surprised when Kylo killed him in TLJ.

 

And he acted like a totally different character. It was weird.

Worse yet, they keep moving the goal posts such that every play is a score and they all get participation trophies.

Leia is a Jedi and Kylo is a Sithish. Different calling plans, those tend to be fatal.

Three making of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, countless of A Christmas Carol, I'd much rather see a reboot,a different person's telling of the story than trying to cram a badly thought out story into a well laid out GFFA.

You should tell them about all the Skywalker family drama. And then this and then this and then this and then oh yea this too...

 

Grandma finally made them leave but I might loan them my DVD copy once my mom helps them set up their DVD player. Grandpa was enjoying what he watched--didnt care much about anything but bad guys vs good guys but TFA at least kept him entertained. I wonder if he would be bored by TLJ....I dont own it on DVD (or at all) so if he wants more new Star Wars from me he'll have to go to RO next. He might be a bit bored by that...my biggest flaw for RO is that it takes awhile to set up all the piece on the board. Fine for us hardcore folks who are thriving at new planets and Easter Eggs and whatnot, not fine for folks who just want the action.

 

Interestingly George Lucas wrote and produced a 2015 animated fantasy movie that ends with a romance between the main villain and heroine.


I wonder if Lucas's sequel trilogy treatment had elements in common with this and what was used in the sequel trilogy.

I remember thinking Anakin's turn in theater was too easy. too quick. it didnt feel natural to me. Somehow Abrams has actually one up'ed that dark side transition with one that is FAR WORSE.

 

One minor problem I have with this movie is the lack of wash and wipe scene transitions. Those have been a stable for the span of this whole franchise. Why stop now for the final film?

 

One of the biggest surprisingly good films I never expected to be so:

Transformers: Age of Extinction

It was on Netflix so a cheap, cheap gamble.

To my surprise it was more than just a fun movie. The story they did of Prime's loss and renewal of confidence in humanity worked far better for me than what TLJ tried to do with Luke.

 

The 6 G-canon films and Clone Wars are the canon. The ST is fan fiction. It's not a natural progression of the story. characters do things that dont make sense starting in TFA all because the writers wrote it so. Im surprised Kasdan didnt have issues with TFA. or maybe he did and there was simply nothing he could do about the direction JJ and KK wanted to take the "story". but even die hard fans of the ST find it hard to consider the films canon after Rise of Skywalker. that film just makes no sense whatsoever.

 

The difference, based on what I've heard, is that the main villain was intended to not be as bad as he looks, while the real villain was supposed to be good-looking. It's a combination of Beauty and the Beast and Frozen with a focus on the issue of racial discrimination and appearance.

Plus, I don't think the Bog King killed an entire village of innocent people (correct me if I'm wrong).

 

Having seen the film, the romance wasn't very good either. Lucas doesn't do romance well it would seem.

 

Gawd this is one of the terrible effects of Reylo. People act like every villain/hero romance = Reylo. No. Most villain love interests are genuinely wooby, like they angst and have a real excuse and aren’t sociopaths. Reylo isn’t Beauty and the Beast. It isn’t Buffy and Angel. It’s Hannibal and Clarice, except Hannibal was way nicer you Clarice from jump.

Funny, but i watched that movie few times and loved it. It has typical corny and artificially looking Lucas moments, but romance in it was done better than Reylo.
It just flows and doesnt move me to ask questions like Reylo did during the whole ST. I think Lucas understand what is bad and what is good and when enough is enough and how not to cross the line of no return for the villain to safely comeback as "not that bad guy".
Something ST creators didnt learn.
