Entry #1

My name is Obi-Wan Kenobi.

And I will never be a Jedi.

I cannot say the words, so writing them down here is the closest I will come to admitting my failure. Even to myself. Every dream I held has now been turned into dust, every hope has been crushed into nothingness. I cannot imagine living a life outside the Temple walls, of being apart from those I consider my brothers and sisters, of being torn away from the only home I have ever known.

But I must endure it even if I cannot imagine it. I must because there is no choice in the matter. That which cannot be changed must be endured.

I had one last chance to get a Master, but he has refused me. I am not surprised, for I am well aware of my own shortcomings. I had hoped, but?

I am not worthy to bear the name of Jedi. It was never meant to be. So now I am in Agri-Corps, my failure quite plain for all to see though I will not speak of it. I can?t. It hurts too much, which is only further proof that I am a failure, for a true Jedi would not feel pain over that which is the will of the Force.

Now I am going to Bandomeer and there I will try to serve some purpose at least. I try to tell myself that our lives here can have some meaning, serve some larger purpose. I even try to believe it. I say the words that I cannot believe in my heart because that is my duty.

It is the responsibility of a Jedi, even a failed one, to never question the will of the Force or the orders of the Council.

So I will serve my time here and attempt to find joy in my service, putting aside my childish hopes for a life grander than the one I am assigned.

I am Obi-Wan and I will never be a Jedi. Ever.

It is heartbreaking for one with so much potential to end up in the Agri-Corps.
After a life of training to be just that a Jedi.
So sad.

very good Obi-Wan journal. Brought back memories of reading the book from way back. and I have the memory of a gold fish.

 

Poor kid. I liked how you showed him trying to do the right thing even though his heart was broken.

Well I?ve made friends with a Hutt. All right, that?s an exaggeration. If by making friends I mean I got myself beat up by one, then yes, I?ve made friends. Actually, I [i]have[/i] made a friend of sorts, an Arconan named Si Treemba. He?s got a disconcerting way of referring to himself in the plural - something to do with their culture and mentality. I?m getting used to it.

A fem named Clat?Ha was the one who patched me up after my encounter with Jemba, the cranky Hutt. Of course, I?ve never encountered a Hutt who [i]wasn?t[/i] cranky. Anyway, she hates Jemba, and with good reason, I admit.

She was not the only one who looked after me. Qui-Gon Jinn was there too. He?s a Jedi. I had hoped he would train me. Not only did I fail spectacularly when I tried to impress him at the Temple, I don?t think I?ve made a much better impression now that I?m in Agri Corps.

I thought, for just a moment, that he might have regretted his decision not to take me as his Padawan learner. But then he simply dismissed me out of hand, making it clear that I was not his responsibility. I suppose I should be grateful that he does not give me false hope.

Somehow, I cannot find it in myself to be grateful.

I must meditate on this fault.
