ST Ian McDiarmid (Plapy) in Episode IX

I loved the opening, where we saw all the Sith alchemy shenanigans going on, and the statues and everything. That is probably my favorite opening of any SW film now actually! I loved how the Emperor was portrayed in this film-and the whole idea behind his presence. Exploring the whole Sith side of things was a great world building, universe-expanding experience in this film and IMO the corresponding scenes on Execal (sp?) stands as a strong contribution to the best moments in the whole saga.

 

It’s my fave opening to a SW film. It felt very old school adventure novel-y and the fast pace worked a treat here. It had an exciting sense of purpose. Kylo kicking ass on Mustafar, getting the wayfinder, roaring to Exogol and then the creepy, atmospheric scene with Palpatine.

 

I have to say the opening really failed for me. The slow mow action on Mustafar (?) was very unusual for a SW film, and then then the Palpy/Sith plot drop just had me like SMH.

Glad others liked it. But for me it was not a great start.

 

Revenge of the Sith is still my favorite opener for a Star Wars movie

What about c) the Palps we saw during the PT and OT being a clone body used and controlled by Sheev from far away at Exegol? Maybe his real body was already there for a really long time...

 

Convoluted.

 

Zero diplomacy/politics. More concerned about actual genocide/destruction than domination. Law based on Sith dogma.

 

I've read that too! The fact that Sidious says "just as I fell, the last Skywalker will fall too!" (or something like that,before pushing Kylo down that hole) makes me think he was an actual original person in the PT/OT trilogies, not a clone.

 

Do you think it would have a caste system like the Sith Empire(s) seen in TOTJ and TOR and how different would the law be in contrast to the Galactic Empire?

 

I actually did like it. At least we finally got to see a decent lightsaber battle.

And this is not the first slow motion in SW. Luke's "battle" with Vader in the Dagobah cave is in slow motion, as is the A-wing crashing into the Executor's bridge in ROTJ.

 

Yeah! On top only Force-Sensitive Sith and acolytes. Not even military Moffs.

I do like the concept with the scene but thought it could have been written/explored in more detail. It was too vague.

Sith training. If she/he's worthy, she/he will defeat any enemy sent to kill her/him.

He also tells Kylo several times to kill her in TROS.

 

Palpatine's has been pitting Rey and Kylo from the beginning. It's Sith training survival of the fittest. Asking Kylo to kill her makes them both stronger and whoever wins becomes his new apprentice but at this point with him can't even walk...one of them will become his new vessel.

Sure he wants his granddaughter as Empress Palpatine but if she's not strong enough to survive Kylo then she is not worth to possess. That is why He also promised Kylo to be Emperor.

TLJ Snoke scenes...has now been Retcon ....as one of Palpatine's many "tests" like how he pitted Tyranus vs. Anakin and Vader vs. Luke. As Snoke, he wanted to see this girl for himself and what would Kylo do in this situation and his intentions. That was when Palpatine found out that Rey was the granddaughter he was looking for all this time and what to do with back stabber Kylo Ren.

After Rey left Luke on the island and seeing her went straight to the Dark Side during his first training with her is where I think he realized that Rey was a Palpatine and told Leia via the Force after his death.

 

Meh, he looked almost exactly like The Seer from the HBO series "Vikings" down to the lips.

 

Missed opportunity:

When Frank says to Rey that he is all the Sith, she should've responded with "And I am...THE SENATE"

 

Maybe as well as all the Sith he has all the senators inside him as well.

 

Or "I AM A COMMITTEE!!!"

 

Padme pops out of nowhere and kills Palpatine

 

He must've been very hungry.
