Teen Titans Season One Redesigns by Femmes-Fatales

I'm going a bit out of order in posting this, but I figured I'd do so anyway since I completed the individual designs for the characters that make up this team. In my DC head canon chronology project, everything is effectively ordered as if it were a collection of connected television series, mini-series, and films. The canon begins with Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, and evolves from there.

While the individual members of the Teen Titans are introduced early on in my canon, they don't band together until after the formation of the Justice League at the end of the first year. Inspired by the teamwork of their mentors, the teenage proteges of the Justice League create their own crimefighting group focused on helping and empowering those around their age. They face opposition in the form of the organization known as the H.I.V.E., whose loyal followers have made it their mission to undermine the efforts of the Teen Titans. Their elite group of mercenaries, the Fearsome Five, have become the group's primary foes in the field. In terms of comparison, think of this dynamic as being similar to the X-Men and the Brotherhood in X-Men: Evolution.

The Teen Titans' founding roster is comprised of Speedy (Roy Harper), Kid Flash (Wally West), Aqualad (Garth), and co-leaders Wonder Girl (Donna Troy) and Robin (Dick Grayson). Robin is a very by-the-books individual who keeps the team organized. The influence that Batman has had on him is clear, which means that he is the most disciplined and focused of the group. However, he is still very much someone who is light-hearted and takes joy in doing good for the world. Wonder Girl bases her decisions on feeling and instinct, so she's much more personable and compassionate than Robin. Despite this, she is the best fighter on the team and her strategies are naturally more based on fighting in numbers due to her time spent with the Amazons. Aqualad is the team's anchor (har har). He's quiet and stoic, but strong and evenly tempered. When fight break out between the boys, it is Aqualad who is most likely to remain neutral and rise above the conflict. Speedy is the bad boy of the group. He's the first to take issue with a strategy and most frequently would prefer to do things his way. He's inventive and creative, with a penchant for forging various gadgets the team is able to use, but is also often too stubborn and independent. Speedy places more focus on having fun and partying as well. Kid Flash, meanwhile, is the most "normal" of the group. He's studious, but also a bit of a class clown. He loves cars and heroics, but is uncertain what is future will consist of. He's also the only "middle class" member on the team - given that two of his teammates are effectively royalty and the other two are wards of millionaires.

With the designs for the Teen Titans, the inspiration came from their Silver Age looks and the goal was to make them much more modern. This meant pulling elements from various contemporary adaptations. Overall, I'd say I'm mostly happy with how they look as a group.
