So first of all, I have to issue a big apology to my watchers ... I'M SORRY

So really ... I ... I have no excuses ... I'm a lame ass person who started this friggin' thing March 31st and did not post it until May 12th. I actually drew the majority of this in April though. :/ And the AFC ./.. I still plan to do that too. But I also have more owed art now. Honestly I- I ... a lot of sh➊t's gone down lately :/

Anyway, yes, his backstory isn't complete ... I'm so sorry ... I just couldn't write anymore. It was weighing on my mind and preventing me from getting other stuff done ... but I'll finish it as soon as I can.

Anyway, about the drawing: Yeah! Yeong-Il is my first fancharacter EVER! He won't be counted on my official OC lists or anything, but yeah. I've explained it all here. The crazy idea of an obsessive fangirl ... Idk
I has a prosthetic leg so I'll need to draw him again, to illustrate that. Once I do, I'll probably finish his backstory.

Personality:
In demeanour, Yeong-Il is rather odd, comparative to other cadets; he seems to have a very noticeable and commanding presence, but seems always trying to hide it and blend into the background. He has a striking appearance as he is exotic and foreign looking compared to the residents of the Walls. However, he doesn't seem proud of this and doesn't really want to be noticed or in the spotlight. To those who are stubborn enough to actually seek him out, he will appear to be timid and hard to get to know, but very sweet and kind; rather than talking about himself or his past, he shields himself by trying to build others up, do favours for them, etc. and shift the attention/focus of the relationship to the other person and their needs. Despite wanting to "hide from himself", though, Yeong is very self confident and without much anxiety or fear, even when facing (most) titans. In reality, Yeong is rather introspective and always lost in his own mind; he is admittedly selfish, and though he cares about others on an individual level, he doesn't care much for humanity as a whole, thinking the world is already damned, and that the best anyone can do is try their hardest to live a good life for themself in the hellish conditions that already exist. Understanding well that his opinions would be controversial, especially among those fighting for humanity in the cadets, he tries to share as little of himself as possible and stay hidden. He will also exteriorly seem mostly devoid of emotion. He is sweet but not optimistic or happy. (This is due to his PTSD and the shock he experienced losing his parents). He was once very sensitive but has since been desensitised to most potential tragedies. When he undergoes flashbacks or other symptoms of trauma, he feels it on more of a subconscious level, as he has taught himself to shut out his emotions. Yeong is also rather sneaky and can be manipulative. Since he cares only for people as individuals, and only then, people he knows personally, he isn't afraid to do whatever it takes to get where he needs to be, finding that to be the way of the world (similar to the notions of Mikasa, that the world is a beautiful but cruel place). He has been known to steal the belongings of other cadet members.

He has an extremely pale complexion and very clear skin, aside from a couple of moles on his face. He has somewhat large, hooded, and somewhat upturned brown eyes with long eyelashes, that usually hold a rather dead looking expression. He has eyebags rather frequently as well, though they make his eyes look larger.Somewhat long nose bridge with his nose itself being small, the tip somewhat flat and very slightly downturned. He has a small mouth and lips with a noticeable bow. Face shape is a rounded heart with high, round cheeks. He has long, straight bangs and somewhat messy, thick hair that reaches a little below his chin and is cut in a messy, layered bowl shape with excess hair tied in a small bun on his head, and is very dark auburn in colour. -Sometimes he slices his skin because he likes seeing the blood; when his emotions start to come out it's sort of a calming effect, as long as the blood spreads in a nice and non messy fashion. This is not done out of depression or as a method of self harm but rather as a defence mechanism and a personal quirk.

Reiner seems to not understand why, but in addition to Yeong being a completely different kind of person, the image of the armoured titan was ingrained into his impressionable childhood memory. Resulting, Yeong-Il somewhat figured his identity out early on based on how much Reiner already looks like his titan form.
He has complicated relationship with Bertholdt, but they aren't enemies and are somewhat close.

Trivia:
-When he was a child living in the interior, his mother owned a flower shop and he worked there sometimes. Not that his family really needed that much money, but he enjoyed being around the flowers and liked how he could get lost in their scents and in his own mind. He was his only friend, and the flowers.
-(this fact will be deleted once I add his story, but his father was in the MP, that's why he was able to live in Wall Sina.)
-He didn't get along well with most other members of the 103rd cadet corps.
-Despite having an injury, he is quick witted and agile, and a good tactician; resulting, he was 6th in graduation.
-His superiors at first almost forced him out of the military many times.

Although this would be a fictional scenario, we do have records of the Vikings raiding settlements along the North African coast. One account from the Fragmentary Annals of Ireland describes Norwegian Vikings attacking a North African region called "Mauritania" (probably not to be confused with the modern country of Mauritania, as it is said to be "across the sea" from the Balearic Islands) and taking "black men" for captives. One cannot help but wonder if these wide-ranging seafarers could have ever sailed south of the Sahara...

Did you know that the Almoravid dynasty of Islamic Spain may have had African female archers in their army? One medieval chronicler describes a contingent of them, headed by a female general named Nujeymah, who participated in a siege on Valencia in 1094 (at the time, the city was under the control of Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar, better known as “El Cid”). The historian Elena Lourie believes that these female archers may have come from the West African kingdom of Wagadu (or medieval Ghana), which would regularly send auxiliary troops to the Almoravids.

And yes, as portrayed here, they apparently did have their heads shaved except for little tufts at the top.

Mounted on her mahout-driven Lurdusaurus, this pseudo-Egyptian queen is going on a hunt out in the desert on the frontier of her native civilization.

If you don’t know what a Lurdusaurus is, it was an iguanodont dinosaur from Early Cretaceous Africa that had an unusually long neck as well as possible adaptations for a semi-aquatic lifestyle similar to a hippo. I therefore figured an Egyptianesque theme would suit it well.

This would be Itaweret, the protagonist from my upcoming novel Priestess of the Lost Colony, dressed up as if she were a Queen of Mycenae (although she is ethnically Kemetian, or ancient Egyptian, rather than Mycenaean). There's actually a reason for this depiction that is implied in the book itself, but it comes up at the very end and I don't want to give it away here. I have it say it's always fun to combine the fashions of different cultures (in this case, Kemetian and Mycenaean) like this when designing characters' costumes.

A piece I managed to work up during Mosasaur Week, in this case a render of Platecarpus tympaniticus, which was present in The Western Interior Seaway during the late Cretaceous. I wanted to stick to the usual dark on top and light underneath countershading template, but introduce some interesting patterns - potentially something that might have been present in smaller more vulnerable juveniles. In this case I used Zebra shark markings for inspiration - not trout I promise! Although the patterns are actually very similar. To help with the lighting I used a shark clip from the documentary 'Our Planet'.

Some new work based on the recently described Llukalkan aliocranianus, an Abelisaurid that lived around 85 million years ago in late Cretaceous Argentina.
For this piece I've just been trying out a few art techniques on the head and began by sculpting a small maquette out of plasticine in order to help with the lighting. In the end I actually ended up painting over the maquette itself in photoshop, so it was basically the same as having a 3D base - A great head start! I've made three more pieces with different versions of the facial integument which will be following next! I'd love to hear which ones people like the most!

Round two of playing around with Llukalkan facial integument. Not a massive difference from the previous one & I used the same maquette as a base again - mainly just playing around with process and new techniques. I did have a lot of fun doing the neck wrinkles and folds on this one! I made the scale texture mostly from the skin on birds feet. Two more variations coming soon! This Llukalkan project has turned into a bit of a personal experiment exploring new techniques. What do you think compared to the previous one? Thoughts and comments always welcome and appreciated!

My third look of the Abelisaurid theropod - I wish you could post multiple images together on here! This time I took some influence from hornbills and added some soft tissue around the eye area and added a hint of yellow for some vibrancy. I think this one I definitely had the most fun with!

Final piece on Llukalkan aliocranianus, an Abelisaurid that lived around 85 million years ago in late Cretaceous Argentina. This one I forgot to upload but out of all of them I started this piece first and finished it last. In this scene, a pair of males compete for mating rights by trying to outshow each other. I wanted to depict some subtle dimorphism, so gave the males some light facial patterning and a reddish tint to the horny keratin around the eye's and snout and also the throat area.
