Evil Warriors- Skeletor by RobertMacQuarrie1 on DeviantArt
    [IMG]
    If there's a He-Man, there's got to be a Skeletor.

Skeletor was already a pretty hard core design, but I figured that I could find a way to really push the envelope and give him an edgy, 90's influenced look. This meant a lot of spikes and armor plating. I sort of cribbed some elements from another character designed I had bandying around for his chest plate, but I figured it was a good fit with Skeletor's redesign here.

Having lost his Havoc Staff, Skeletor would instead upgrade to the Dragon's Claw- a powerful magical artifact that allows him to channel the chaotic energies on Terminus for his own purposes. He can also transform the Dragon's Claw by reducing the staff portion to the size of a handle and collapsing the four blades on the hilt into a single curved blade, transforming it into the Dragon's Blade.

Skeletor would be a force to be reckoned with on Terminus, as soon after he'd arrive he'd take control over a mighty army of mutants and monsters that were created from the wastelands of Terminus, and bring them to heel with his dark magic. The heroes would have to race against time to try and prevent Skeletor from regaining all the shards of the Power Sword which would not only increase his own power, but allow him to open a portal back to Eternia where he could lead his army to conquer it and gain the secrets of Castle Grayskull for himself.

Skeletor's "Play Feature" would have him being able to twist back and forth, raising and lowering his staff or sword to fend off or parry attacks from other characters.

Evil Warriors- Evil-Lyn by RobertMacQuarrie1 on DeviantArt
    [IMG]
Traveling to Terminus alongside Skeletor, Evil-Lyn would not stay loyal to him for very long. Seeing the toll the battle had on Skeletor and knowing the fate that may befall her that would later fall on Sleeze, Evil-Lyn would strike out on her own to form her own power base in this new world. While not having the vast resources Skeletor would soon claim for himself, Evil-Lyn would nonetheless discover many dark secrets herself and become a formidable foe of her own right, both adding and challenging Skeletor when the opportunity suits her.

As with Teela, I saw Evil-Lyn being one of those "Toyless Toyline" characters, so her design is rather stripped down and simplified. Her new look would be more "Gothic sorceress" than the barbarian amazon style she sported before.

Evil Warriors- Beast Man by RobertMacQuarrie1 on DeviantArt
    [IMG]
Beast Man, once one of Skeletor's most loyal henchmen, would be the most radically changed by Terminus. Falling into a pit of toxic ooze and abandoned by his former master, Beast Man would be mutated by the waste into a terrifying mutant monstrosity. What little of his mind would be gone, replaced by a creature of pure rage. Beast Man would lose the ability to control the animal kingdom, but he'd become strong enough to challenge the might of even He-Man himself.

Beast Man always felt like one of the "Big three" baddies from the original MOTU cartoon, so I felt I had to include him along with the "Big three" of the Heroic Warriors. I wanted to go with the whole "Trying to make it cooler but somehow making it worse" redesign policy of a lot of 90's redesigns, which meant stripping all the unique qualities of Beast Man's original design and replacing them with something not as interesting.

He'd have horns, fangs and claws, a shaggy pelt of furn on his upper body, a darker color scheme, and banded arms... because.

For his "Play Feature," I saw him having a lever on his back you'd press to raise his arms up and down in a smashing motion.

Evil Warriors- Sleeze by RobertMacQuarrie1 on DeviantArt
    [IMG]
Sleeze would be another "Toyless Toyline" figure, since I liked the idea of Skeletor having a toady in this new world, but figured he wouldn't have a fun toy design.

Sleeze would have once been a tall, strapping mutant who ruled over a sizeable section of Terminus. When Skeletor arrived on Terminus, he was gravely injured by the trip and lost much of his magical power. Skeletor would be dragged before Sleeze who would mock the weakened sorcerer before him. However, the tables would turn after Skeletor would drain Sleeze's vitality to rejuvinate himself, transforming Sleeze into the pitiful creature that he is now. Ever the opportunist, Sleeze would instantly field his undying loytalty to Skeletor as the Eternian Sorcerer would take control of Sleeze's domain for himself. Sleeze would continue on as Skeletor's groveling henchman, always looking for a way to restore his lost power and stature.

Sleeze's design came together quite quickly when I thought of adding a cowardly sychophant to the character lineup, since I didn't have to worry about him looking "Cool" as I was going for deliberately unimpressive.

Evil Warriors- Fang-Face by RobertMacQuarrie1 on DeviantArt
    [IMG]
For the villains of "He-Man: Extreme," I wanted to design them based on what would be "Cool" bad guys for kids at the time. While we weren't supposed to be watching them, films like the Nightmare on Elm Street series, or Friday the 13th or Aliens, kids saw them and knew of them nonetheless. They were the cool bad guys that we weren't supposed to like, so that made us like them even more.

For Fang Face, he's clearly modled after the Alien Xenomorphs, albeit with a brighter color scheme. Fang Face would be more intelligent than the creatures from those films, being an alien criminal who crashlanded on Terminus and begun stalking the citizenry for his own amusement, which would eventually lead him into conflict with not only He-Man, but also Skeletor who'd take the alien on as one of his henchmen.

For his "Play Feature" I figured he'd have a few. His limbs would be able to elongate slightly, and by pressing a putton on the back of his head his face would just out and his mouth would open and close. He wouldn't come with a standard "Weapon," but rather have a smaller spider-crab like creature that he could deploy from his back to create a series of mooks for himself in order to stalk and incapacitate his prey.

Evil Warriors- Hunn-Torr by RobertMacQuarrie1 on DeviantArt
    [IMG]
Another prominent cinematic baddie that was big for kids in the 90's was The Predator from their eponymous film series. So I figured that I'd base another baddie on the Predator, albeit a stripped down version of their design. And with the Predator as the basis, and leaning into the ridiculous naming conventions of the original series, I couldn't pass up naming him "Hunn-Torr."

Hunn-Torr would be an alien bounty hunter, who arrived on Terminus to hunt Fang-Face. He wouldn't do so for altruistic reasons, however. Instead he would hunt for the thrill of it, and would find his greatest challenge in the form of He-Man. He'd alternately works as both an independent agent as well as in the service of Skeletor, where he would invariably clash with his former "Prey" Fang-Face.

Hunn's "Play Feature" would be centered around his cybernetic arm, which could be replaced with a variety of weapons such as axes, claws, and- as pictured here- a laser canon.

Heroic Vehicles- Battle Bike by RobertMacQuarrie1 on DeviantArt
    [IMG]
You can't really have a Masters of the Universe toy line without having some wild vehicles, now can you?

Again, keeping with what was meant to be "Cool" at the time, that meant giving He-Man and Skeletor new modes of transportation. So instead of riding Battle Cat into action, He-Man would ride into battle on his three wheeled Battle Bike.

I tried to incorporate a lot of the types of elements seen in toy vehicles at the time. That meant a spring loaded missile (Because those were the cool new thing at the time) as well as a big, gaudy color scheme. I also saw an additional "Play Feature" for this toy would be that if the "Shield" on the front was "Hit," it'd fly off in a spring loaded action to show "Battle damage."

Heroic Vehicles 2. Bronco Buster by RobertMacQuarrie1 on DeviantArt
    [IMG]
Continuing on with the heroic vehicles, I wanted to keep with the tradition of those bonkers designs from the original MOTU series. Like I said regarding the New Adventures of He-Man series, the vehicles there were really boring- especially for the heroic characters. Just slabs of grey plastic in the vague shape of a jet. For "He-Man: Extreme," I wanted to have the vehicles have a nice visual flare for them.

Hence, the "Bronco Buster." I wanted a generic "Good Guy" vehicle like you'd see in the original series that anyone could ride. There were plenty of land tanks in that line, so that seemed like a good place to start. Of course I had to add the spring loaded missiles. But an additional "Play Feature" would be the bull's head, which would be able to strike out at other characters and vehicles with a push of a button on the back.

Heroic Vehicles- Slam Wagon by RobertMacQuarrie1 on DeviantArt
    [IMG]
I saw the Slam Wagon as the "Big" vehicle of the toyline. This would be the big toy you'd HAVE to get if you were a kid. Large enough to carry three characters, with a whole bunch of play features.

I always liked the idea of a vehicle with a couple of arms sticking off of it, and this sequence felt like a good place to incorporate that feature. I figured that the vehicle would be motorized- an additional bit that would make it more desirable than the rest- with the arms pumping up and done on their own, while the fists rotate to "Smash" the bag guys. Other play features would include the shield at the front which could move up and down, as well as the gunner's nest on the back which would have three spring firing missiles along with an "Automatic" gatling gun.

Rounding it off was giving it the appropriate garish 90's color scheme. Originally I thought of having it be brown and grey. But then I decided to liven it up a bit by giving it an orange and green color scheme.

Evil Vehicles- Doom Cycle by RobertMacQuarrie1 on DeviantArt
    [IMG]
If we're going to have good guy vehicles, then we're going to have to have vehicles for the bad guys as well.

Giving Skeletor a matching ride to challenge He-Man was a no-brainer. So if He-Man was going to become a badass biker, Skeletor might as well too.

I decided to keep the same "Play features" as He-Man's ride- the spring loaded missile, as well as the skull on the front that would pop off when "hit." But the bike also highlighted the tone I wanted to go with for the villainous vehicles. I wanted to have a bit more distinction between the heroes and the villains rides for "He-Man EXTREME," and try to make them look a little closer to what would be on the shelves at the time. So I decided to go for a mix of a spooky gothic/ creepy organic/ Halloween look for them. And Skeletor's Doom Cycle set the template for what would follow.

Evil Vehicles- Air Ghoul by RobertMacQuarrie1 on DeviantArt
    [IMG]
The bad guys need an aerial ride of their own. Mostly so they can have a quick escape during the fights when things don't go their way.

The "Air Ghoul" was a standard one person air sled. I struck on the design pretty quickly, with a ghastly face and a pretty compact design. I struggled a bit with the "Play Feature." First it didn't have one. Then it was meant to have a forked tongue that would strike out. I eventually settled on a Xenomorph style grabber mouth that could lash out at a press of a button to attack the good guys.

Again I stuck with the gray color scheme with a bit of a splash of color to fit with the theme of the bad guys vehicles.

Evil Vehicles- Creeper Crawler by RobertMacQuarrie1 on DeviantArt
    [IMG]
To match the Bronco Buster, the baddies needed a battle tank of their own. Enter: The Creeper Crawler.

This was probably the most fun vehicle for me to design. I loved the idea of this six wheeled tumbler with this skull face on the front, and the name for it just clicked right away. The rib bones and spinal column added to the creepy factor.

The "Play Features" would also include the dual firing spring loaded missiles on the top, but the main feature would be the face on the front that would open up and down to grab and crush the good guys in it's jaws.

Water Ninja by KittyTheS on DeviantArt
    [IMG]
This piece was inspired by a blog post I found about Tlingit daggers, which I suggest everyone take a look at because this picture does not do them justice. It's the second attempt at realizing that inspiration due to the first not looking even remotely badass enough. It wasn't intended to be fanart originally but when I finished the sketch I thought "This looks like it ought to be a character from the Avatar series" and so I made her a waterbending ninja in Republic City. Now I want to convince my gaming group to try the new ATLA RPG so I can play as her.

I hope that the tiger-walrus design I made up for her hat and tattoos isn't similar to anyone's real crest. I deliberately avoided basing it on anything I know to be a real design just in case. I also probably did quite a few things wrong given that the last time I tried to make anything like it I was still in grade school (I used this study guide for basic instructions but I would have preferred a more in-depth resource - sadly, my ability to do research that can't be got directly from the internet is limited at present).

Another elven character I drew in late 2019, together with Silvercoat the Archer. Can't remember why I didn't upload this artwork back then.

Again for my secundary worldbuilding project Solmgardt, based on medieval europe. Maybe he's the leader of the elven gang of highwayman.

Not a word! by Shabazik on DeviantArt

    [IMG][IMG]
Kiyoko gazed down upon the estate from the safety of the rooftops. Various kunoichi sentries were wondering about but numbers meant nothing if she remained undetected. It had been a while since her ‘encounter’ with Tanaka and despite coming out of her failed assassination attempt with her life (something rare for a ninja) and actually a bit of improved skill, Kiyoko had been harshly reprimanded by her clan leaders.

She had been harshly punished, and had since been demoted to minor jobs and missions, such a scouting and thievery. She still stayed in contact with Tanaka, having of course told her leaders that he had escaped and disappeared, despite him very much having done the opposite. To help out his new found kunoichi friend, Tanaka had agreed to relocate to a nearby area, but otherwise he was still very much alive and in the area.

Kiyoko sighs as she continues observing the sentries carry about around the estate, waiting for her chance to move. Tonight’s mission was a simple yet slightly important one. Her clan was planning on getting ahead of another rival clan and as such had entrusted Kiyoko with this scouting and stealing mission. She was to learn the layout of this estate, and then steal an important document hidden somewhere within it.

One lone kunoichi moving away from the courtyard suddenly catches Kiyoko’s eye. Her form shows her inexperience, her face (or rather what can be seen above the lower mask) shows her youth. ‘This was it’ Kiyoko thought to herself as she jumped down from the rooftop several metres away from her target. The kunoichi had still not sensed the intruder as she lazily gazed back at the courtyard she had just left. Kiyoko drew her kunai and was on her within an instant. One hand pushes the sentry into a nearby wide pillar, the other brings the kunai up to the girl’s throat.

Had this been in the past this would be when Kiyoko would have secured her first kill of the night. As the blade would be able to pierce into the girl’s throat however, Kiyoko finds herself stopping it out of instinct. The sentry is barely able to gasp before Kiyoko moves her hand from the shoulder and brings up a finger to her masked lips.

“Not a move or sound, okay?” Kiyoko said coolly though on the inside she was entirely unsure of what she was doing. She had never spared an enemy before less know what to do with one while on a mission. The girl nodded in response however and then came an awkward silence.

“You’re uhh tell me what I need to know and you’ll survive tonight” Kiyoko said with a slight hint of hesitation. This was totally unlike her yet somehow, she couldn’t bring herself to just coldly kill the kunoichi sentry before her, now that she’d been neutralised as a threat.

‘Stupid Tanaka, this is his fault…I’m gonna totally kick his ass next time I see him…’ she thought to herself, shaking her head as her captive looked back her in slight bemusement.
