ABD is one of my favs. Helsreach was the first novel I read in the setting. His heresy stuff tends to be the the best of the novels in that series as well. I love how he often times writes from perspectives of characters that are nor Astartes or other transhuman characters like Custodes. Another author that's good at that is Chris Wraight his Valuts of Terra and Watchers of the Throne series(which overlap some characters) are pretty cool with the leads being a Custodes and an Inquistior in Vaults and a different Custode, two successive Chancellor's of the Senatorum Imperialis, and a Sister of Silence. Having a Sister of Silence as one of the leads is interesting because they it means one of the lead characters speaks in a type of sign language(except for once when thinking the were going to die she shouts a battle cry).

Well this week I am working on my Deathwing. Tartaros Terminators to be exact, which now fall under the Relic Terminators in 9. Kitbashed the sergeant to using some Dark Angels veterans bits, specifically a hooded head and the terminator power sword and arm that somehow has always come in the veterans kit and fits perfectly on a tartaros.

Going with the traditional load out of Combi bolters, power fists on them, with the Sergeant with a power sword and Combi bolter. I think I will do one with heavy weapons.

I have death wing knights and a regular death wing terminator squad on the equivalent of back order(I ordered them during a point last month where they where available to order but GW ran out and has to make more, I am in contact with US customer service). The regular terminator squad I am going to do heavy weapons(missile launcher) and the knights are close combat with Maces of Absolution. Eventually I will get Belial to lead them.

The watchers on the throne books have been really interesting so far. Having one of the members of the Imperial Senate as one of the leads in each book is really interesting (the other two leads being a Custodes shield captain and a Sister of Silence).

It shows how the Fall of Cadia, the great rift, a daemonic invasion of Terra and Luna and Guilliman's return threw thr Imperium into political turmoil. Plus reading about a kill team of a couple Custodes, 3 Grey Knights and a few sisters of Silence taking out a Bloodthrister is awesome even with the Sisters pariah aura canceling out the grey knight pysket abilities.

A member of the Sin Eaters space marine chapter. Descendants of the Blood Angels, the Sin Eaters possess a similar chapter structure, but with a far greater reliance upon their vanguard formations- as masters of ambush assaults, they lure foes into a false sense of security before striking with frenzied abandon. They are said to have religious reverence for their death company, for the chapter's sanguinary priesthood believe that the torturous madness of the black rage also holds secret wisdom passed down from their primarch.

Well, I've fallen back on my old standby of 40k fanart. Revisiting my homebrew, Kali-inspired space marine chapter, the Sin Eaters! You can check out my first piece portraying a member of this chapter here!

Masters of ambush assault tactics, the vanguard terror-troops of the Sin Eaters are feared by all those that would dare defy the Imperium. Nevertheless, the chapter remains controversial among their fellow Blood Angel successors- specifically, for their unconventional stance on the curses of their gene-seed. The Sin Eaters' sanguinary priesthood is convinced that snatches of their long-dead primarch's wisdom can be gleaned by analyzing the delusional ravings of those afflicted by the the Black Rage, and have therefore allowed their chapter's death company to swell to alarming proportions. So great is their devotion to this concept that they have, on occasion, even gone so far as to "adopt" the death companies of other chapters in need, ostensibly to spare them from the Inquisition's scrutiny. Rumor has it that the chapter received its moniker from Lord Dante himself in response to such a deed, though whether his words were meant as an honor, a slight, or a dire warning remains uncertain.

If you or anyone you know wants great art like this, shoot me a private message to set up a commission today!

Death guard codex got pushed back into 2021 due to covid. Non Imperial and especially non loyalist Marime factions keep getting bad news, it seems they tend to discount how many people do not play standard space marine. It also probably does not help that while the miniatures are made in the UK, the books likely printed in China.

Hopefully DA supplement does not also get pushed back from January.

They are going to have a Warhammer preview tomorrow, to my understanding, maybe we will find out then.

Hopefully Brewmaster-General Jakkob Bugmansson XI will have it in his sack

They went for the Henry V look for the upcoming Uriel Ventris mini.

I guess Medieval France is the next stop in the Indomitus Crusade.

In paintng news I have Wednesday and Saturday. Nights off so I am finishing off my Dark Angels Veterans and Tactical squads this week along with a Lot.. All 8 built minis built and waiting for the hobby cement to fully cure. 4 of the are going with the Classic Beakie (Mark 6 Corvus Pattern Helmet), the Lt. Has the Dark Angels winged helmet from the old Dark Angels upgrade kit, one has just a hooded head with no helmet and the rest have Mark 8 helmets one under a hood from the Veterans kit. All except the Lieutenant are armed with holders, lieutenant has a Power sword and plasma pistol(which is allowed for Lieutenants per 9th edition codex).

Exited for Mortis ,Dawn of Fire 2, and I will probably pick up the Dark Imperium novels as the first two have been out of print the entire time I have been into Warhammer and it and dawn of fire tie into each other.

A friend of mine who plays necrons got the imdomitus box set and sold me the Space Marines portion(assault intercessors, Bladeguard vets!, Bladeguard Captain,Bladeguard Ancient,Bladeguard Lieutenant, Judicar, Primaris Chaplain, eradicator squad, and an outsider squad)

Picked it up early this afternoon and already built some of the blade guard and the Judicar. So that's my next project after I finish off the firstborn dark angels vets and tactical guys(aka my hooded guys and beakies marines.

I did not like the head the judicar kit comes with so I had a spare spellcrow conversion bits space Knight that has a hood and a breath mask on the lower portion of the face to make him more Dark Angels. Blade guard vets for Dark angels get the death wing key word so its bone white armor instead of green

3/4 of the way done with first 3 bladeguard veterans and my judiciar should be done with them by Wednesday night decals and all. . Built my Deathwing Command squad as I finally got my Deathwing command squad and Death wing Knights squad from GW. I also received my Belial and Ezekiel models with them. Will prep Belial(Belial is my current Avatar here) tomorrow afternoon as he is resin instead of plastic to he needs a wash and a scrub with a toothbrush before paiting. Will likeLt build rest of the bladeguard(2 normal vets and the Ancient which is the standard bearer) as well

Foe the command squad I have I went the traditional route, Sergeant with Powersword and storm storm bolter 1 model with Halberd of caliban. One with as an apothecary, the other two with storm bolters and power fists, one of who carries the death wing standard. When I get to the Knights they will be built traditionally as well as a bodyguard to Safari.

Its honestly nice to paint another color other than Dark Green and Black for awhile.

    Unfortunately.

Unless I make a homebrew one(I am sadly not good enough free hand to do chapter symbols) , they Unforgiven chapters are sadly a bit monotonous in color choices. almost all are some variety of Green and white. Or a variant on the original chapters color scheme of Black and red(I already have a 30k army in legion colors).

Maybe Guardians of the Covenant because they are silver but detachment costs are a lot of points though.

I have started occasionally buying mini's for some of my favorite non Dark Angels from the novels and stuff. I have sigismund done, I have Loken and Abaddon as well from the heresy as well. I want to get Carro, Valerian, Aayla, Horus, Valdor, Kharn( both versions) and Trajan Valoris eventually. None of them for tabletop but as display pieces.

I am hoping to start actually being able to play in April once most people have gotten the vaccine.

You could take one of the Chapter we know more or less nothing about beside their colours and declare them DA successor, or follow the fan theory that the Angels of Vigilance are DA successors.

Many Chapter symbols are just colour variations of already esablished ones, you could use DA symbols but have them on red, blue, purple, turquoise, etc., really any colour but the DA standard colours

I will think about it for when I finished up my Deathwing and Raven wing. Maybe use that for the Assault intercessors(going to keep the eradictators and hell blasters I have regular DA)/

Have anybody seen a kitbach that uses the Death upgrade pack togheter with Wh40k figures?

Or to spice it up a bit more could you use Space Wolves figures, paint their armour ultramarine with white as a secondary colour and have the wolfhead/s stay black, give them all french sounding names and you got your self a DA successor that don't look like dad or the SW. Throw in some upgrade parts from another Chapter (or the DA) and it will look even more like its own thing.

Suggest Loups Sable Paladins as the name for this Chapter ;)

Too cold to prime in the garage(its 20 degrees Fahrenheit so its below zero for you guys and gals in the rest of he world) and we got about a foot of snow between Wednesday night and noon Thursday. Too tired and sore to paint anyway from shoveling out this afternoon anyway. Weather reports for Sunday are looking good to prime my Deathwing Command squad and Belial which are all built, it with warmer temps in the afternoon.

Will finish up the Indomitus Captain, Lieutenant, and 1st blade guard guy and the Judicar tomorrow with chapter symbols and painting the bases.

Reading the Steve Parker Deathwatch books which are fun. Mostly what they call "Bolter Porn" but after a stretch reading the Watchers on the throne and they stuff around the return of Guilliman which are heavily focused on Imperial Politics its a nice change of pace.the fact that the Death watch is made up of squads of marines from different chapters on a secondment and that they are closer to a Delta Force/SAS than the regular chapters makes for some interesting stories. First book was a rescue operation for an Inquistorial asset that was captured by a Genestealer cult on a mining world. Second is a raid on a tau Facility that is exprementing using captured genestealers.on both Rebel Tau and the human population of the planet. main squad is a Death Spectre Librarian as the Alpha(squad leader), a Raven Guard close combat specialist, a Ultramarine point man, a Imperial fist all rounder who is famous in the fandom ad he was told to stop working out because the tech Marines where tired of altering his armor, and a Excorists chapter Marine whose was put on the team to kill the Death Spectre if he gets possessed by a Daemon also a Dreadnought from the unluckiest Chapter of Space Marines in History, the Lammenters.

I think the Infinite and the Devine(a Necron novel) or maybe even Brutal enough Running(a Ork novel next for another change of pace) trying to broaden my reading in the setting outside of the Imperium a little bit.

I would not call them the unluckiest Chapter - they are still around, unlike some, after all.
