As previously mentioned, mapping current topography has been a hardship, particularly without expeditions into the interior of the island. (That's where the team comes in.) Masrani Global is still working its way through Hammonds old files, we can provide at least a starting place: two park maps from the early 90's. One's from the design files of a brochure, and the other is a screenshot of the 3D digital map Hammond planned to stick into kiosks. Start with these, and we'll keep digging.

    Here's what Wu sent me.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Mr. Hoskins,

Here is the list you requested of all the animals official living on Isla Nublar, with links to associated information from the Jurassic Park archives. I'm aware you spoke to one Mister Roland Tembo - it is a shame he turned down your offer, but the attached are very similar to the packets I provided when Tembo and his team were under Ludlow's employ.

    Ankylosaurus.
    Apatosaurus.
    Brachiosaurus.
    Cearadactylus.
    Compsagnathus.
    Dilophosaurus.
    Dimetrodon.
    Dimorphodon.
    Gallimimus.
    Herrerasaurus.
    Hypsilophodon.
    Maiasaura.
    Microceratus.
    Othnielia.
    Pachycephalosaurus.
    Parasaurolophus.
    Pteranodon.
    Styracosaurus.
    Triceratops.
    Troodon.
    Tyrannosaurus.
    Velociraptor.

There are expected to be additional species on the island, but as they were classified and not released, it will take me some more time to compile information. I will also send you Roland Tembo's field notes - I recommend you ask him for any useful materials as well. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out with any additional questions.

    Best,
    Dr. Henry Wu, PhD

    Bio:

Claude Auclaire grew up in the southern French city of Marseille to an immigrant family from Algeria. Respect and integration were hard concepts to come by in the rough port town brimming with others like him fleeing the troubles of North Africa. He pushed himself to be better than his peers by excelling in school and when he was of age he enlisted in the French Army to see the world and get out of the city.

Claude thrived in the rigid, structured, environment that the military provided. He quickly rose to the rank of captain and served valiantly in several hot spots around the globe. He was awarded several high military honors for his service in the French army and eventually was honorably discharged and settled into early retirement.

Retirement didn't suit Claude well though as he eventually grew restless. He quickly attained a four year degree in environmental education and with his military background landed a job as a park ranger for a large game resort in Africa. It was there that he honed his most useful skill yet: de-escalating conflicts between wildlife and the ever encroaching presence of humanity.

Bio: Key was born in Miami, FL and joined the Air Force out of high school. The only job available for him was medic, which he figured was an easy job because the Air Force rarely saw ground combat. This job was going to be a cakewalk in the states for a few years. Or it was supposed to be. Instead, Key was attached to Marine and Army special forces as part of a Joint Task Force and soon found himself washing sand out of his hair during Desert Storm while the rest of his friends were flying over the fray. He saw some stuff, got alittle shook up, but made it back in one piece. However, he's found it hard to find reliable work since he’s been relieved of duty. The civilian world doesn’t have a lot of uses for a combat medic. He applied to a few fire house and EMT jobs, but he found his name tossed into the batch to return to Jurassic Park by a friend from the service. It seems like a well-paying job for a few weeks of work, so he figured… why not? He’s done more time for less money in the military.

Career Highlights: Graduated Oxford University and earned doctorate with a research paper into Jurassic lifeforms evolving into modern birds. Left academia to work for Greenpeace, became involved in several high-profile protests and clashes with oil firms and hunting gangs. Recently recruited as an environmental and conservation scientist for a UN-sponsored group.

    Bio:
Born in London, UK, but of Indian descent, Sunita is the daughter of two doctors and was pushed to study hard at school. She was always interested in animals and intended to become a vet. She excelled in biology and entered Oxford University. As part of her studies, she undertook a number of trips to South America, Africa and Asia to research biodiversity and evolution and became angered by the destruction of warfare and pollution. She also became interested in the links between extinct animals and modern biodiversity, and built on revolutionary research that theorised dinosaurs evolved into birds. A bright future beckoned.

Then came Sunita’s wild year. She became an active member of Greenpeace and served aboard Rainbow Warrior, taking part in radical protest actions that occasionally even turned violent. Sunita had always been an active student, with hobbies such as rock climbing and swimming, she took to the paramilitary-style training, and even confronted gangs in Africa that were endangering rhinos, gorillas and elephants.

Sunita is not just a naïve idealist. Her scientific background enabled her to make compelling arguments for the importance of biodiversity and the environment, and eventually, when these topics became “mainstream”, she was recruited by a UN group dedicated to them, taking on ad-hoc projects around the world.

Skills: Commercially licensed pilot in both fixed and rotary wing aircraft, ratings on multiple airframes. Keeps up his weapons proficiency at the gun club every week, graduate of the US Army SERE school, college degree in paleontology
Career highlights: Used his college’s ROTC program to finance his degree before joining. Went to the US Army flight school, graduating high enough in his class to qualify for the scout helicopters. After a brief stint in a regular flight unit he was accepted and spent the rest of his career in the 160th. Retired as a Captain, after several stints in Iraq.

Bio: Born to a military family, both father and mother stationed at the Pentagon, a career in the military was all but a foregone conclusion. Ryan had an interest in nature, as well as his passion for flying so, when he went to college, he focused much of his studies in the field of paleontology. Because of his GPA and his written commitment to the US Army, he was able to reach a degree in his field and enter the career track he’d wanted as a result of that commitment.

At flight school, he excelled as well, performing at a high enough degree to be able to have first choice of the airframe he desired to fly. After his short time in regular flight units he was invited to join the 160th SOAR. While with that unit, he cross trained on every airframe the unit had and by the time he retired he’d taken all the FAA civilian license exams as well.

Ryan left the service and flew for several organizations before Masrani Global offered him a position. He soon found himself flying both the regular supply routes to the island as well as shifts of the island security overflights.

Career Highlights: Graduated from Cornell University with a BS in business administration; inherited his father’s construction firm, Timack Construction Co., in early 1988; as a notable contributor and shareholder after merging with Masrani Global, he eventually rose to serve on their Board of Directors.

Bio: Born in rural New Jersey, Jason prided himself in his humble beginnings; he worked in the dredges as a fabricator and carpenter before eventually rising up to obtain success in the business world. He often touts his status as an ‘everyday man’ to emphasize his personal journey and prove that anything is possible through commitment and perseverance. This mindset also helps him to relate to his employees, exemplifying his role as a team leader.

As a working professional, Jason has over 25 years of experience in the construction industry. He attended Cornell University to obtain his BS in business administration, and after working several years out in the field to acquire hands-on experience, he inherited his father’s company, Timack Construction, Co.

After many lucrative years, a merger with Masrani Global proved beneficial to the company’s continued success. As a subsidiary of the vast telecommunications and bioengineering sector, Jason was able to open new avenues of opportunity, which allowed him to expand into a diverse world of untapped potential. His ingenuity and generous contributions eventually earned him a spot on the Board of Directors of Masrani itself.

With plans set in motion to reclaim Isla Nublar and transform it into a more prosperous theme park, it presented the perfect opportunity for Jason to promote his own business. He placed the bid for Timrack Co. to obtain the permit to handle all construction of the new park, which was heralded as Jurassic World.

Much to his delight, Masrani and the rest of the Board agreed, and Jason now finds himself traveling to the island to assess the preliminary work for the immense project.

Bio: Father Emilio Carracosa grew up in a Rosario, Argentina, but moved to Buenos Aires as a young man to pursue his education in the capital, where he studied paleontology - which eventually took him right back out of capital and south to Neuquen, where he worked with the nascent Museo Carmen Funes. His father was disappeared during the Dirty War, and his brother was injured in a crackdown - the kindness, attentiveness, and sense of duty Carracosa observed in the nuns who helped nurse his brother back to health inspired him to join the Church, choosing to become a Jesuit due to their history of supporting science. He's had an illustrious career (Argentina is the sixth most important country for new dinosaur discoveries) and consulted for John Hammond's dig teams in Argentina and the surrounding countries, though at the time he didn't know their purpose. When news of the Jurassic Park disaster broke, Carracosa felt ashamed of his involvement. (Note: It's not clear any of Carracosa's consulting was directly responsible for any of the animals in the park. - Wu) Nevertheless, he's confessed a feeling of responsibility.

    Hi! Very nice start.

Can I please ask how much we really know about the island?

The first letter keeps details to a minimum, but the second makes it seem like the park (and its animals) and the “San Francisco incident” are common knowledge. So are we all fully aware that they managed to successfully clone real dinosaurs?

Sorry if this a dumb question.

    Hey!

So! Yes, it seems that what occurs in the movies is that the first park gets covered up and is kind of the realm of conspiracy theorists but then the T-Rex gets loose in San Diego (sorry for the typo?) in The Lost World and there's suddenly no way to keep a lid on it. In Jurassic Park III it's common knowledge that there are living dinosaurs on these two islands, to the extent that Alan Grant has trouble getting funding for his digs and people are running illegal adventure tourism businesses.

Would it be easier to start the appropriate combo threads or do you guys feel confident doing that? I know @darthbernael is a master of combo threads...

    Species number: JP-1887
    Species:
    Triceratops horridus nublarensis
    Height: Up to 10ft
    Length: Up to 30ft
    Mass: Up to 13 tons
    Diet: Herbivore
    Key descriptors: Aggressive, territorial, social

ANIMAL DESCRIPTION: Triceratops feed on low growing vegetation. Contrary to popular conception, we haven't found them to exhibit real herding behavior - they are social however, traveling in small family groups. They are known to mark territory with urine and dung (often returning to the same place to relieve themselves, resulting in enormous piles of droppings), but also by lacerating trees with their horns. Rutting behavior is common, but individuals have also been observed locking horns in a passive way, just standing or gently applying pressure. Triceratops are bigger than you expect and more aggressive. Let your field experience with rhinoceros be your guide: they have better eyesight, but a similar temper in defense of themselves, their territory, and their young. They are mostly diurnal, though occasionally have been observed active at night - currently unknown why. They're prone to sickness, especially allergic to West Indian Lilac Berries. They have been clocked in a full charge at 20 mph.

ANIMAL LOCATION: Due to their size, Trikes tend to avoid dense forest, and can mostly be observed moving through plains and ferns. Primarily based around the NE of the island, where the Triceratops pen was located, they have since dispersed throughout the entirety of the less forested Eastern side of the island. West Indian Lilac Berries continue to proliferate in the North, which may have facilitated the southward migration.

Yes I'm up for that or posting in the live thread, but I did want to ask our GM more about the situation. I think we - as a group - are in between the adult Triceratops and the juvenile, and it seems the young one is out of its pen now? The path back to the docks is one escape route, I guess getting off the causeway and into deep jungle is another. Is that an accurate description?

How far away are Owen and Jason Timack? They saw/heard the adult triceratops. Are we close enough to coordinate with them?

    Hm.

    Okay!

So assume Timack is still in the T. rex paddock situation, and Owen and Barry came running as soon as they heard, so they're with the group. The mother Trike busted the enclosure and herded Cera out. She's backed up onto the main causeway you've come down. Cera has just charged Hoskins as he tried to flee, unfortunately, which places you between her and the baby.
