Sort of..? Less focused on one martial art and more like MMA or Bruce Lee.

    Story wise though, yes.

I'd ask the GM if he practiced or was very familiar with Martial Arts, because...details.

Okay, it's been a kind of long time since I tried my role play idea. I tried to look at some role plays we have here and none of them interested me. If I can't find one to join I have another idea for a RP.

    An Earth Isekai
We are empowered individuals from this Earth. In this Isekai idea, players are empowered in various ways. You could be people with powers you just got through unusual means, such as Heirs, something more like a Super Hero Origin, Or you could be reincarnated folks of fictional characters. The year's around 2300, and the world is transitioning between the Cyber Era to the Space Operatic Setting. Humanity's been regulating super powers of all kinds with partial success for many decades now, and might be also transitioning from just a bad democratic era like The Republic from Star Wars to a fascistic regime. Characters could take sides in conflict or establish their own factions. The Demiurge, a creator god has gone senile after surviving for many eons. As a result, all realities across the multiverse are breaking down. Something must be done to stop this.

I would honestly like to GM a roleplay at some point, perhaps after Duel of the Fates concludes, and there is one that has been on my mind. It's just that I don't know how many would be interested it. This requires some explanation...

Years ago, I was a member of a site called JPLegacy Forums. I am a huge Jurassic Park fan and one of the things that had attracted me to the forums was something called the Jurassic Park Interactive Storytelling Game, where members took turns continuing a story. Unfortunately, the game was dead by the time that I had joined the site. So I started my own version of it. Though not many participated, I did get one regular participant that I became friends with over time and we had fun until JPLegacy eventually shut down. Later, we both met each other again on another site called Jurassic Mainframe and we decided to start up the Interactive Storytelling Game again. It was still just mainly me and him, but it was honestly some of the most fun that I have ever had online. Then he just... disappeared. I haven't heard from him in over two years and without him, the game died.

But the game is actually the reason I'm on Jedi Council Forums right now. I hadn't been on this site for years, but I knew I had to become active again after accidentally finding out about @Sinrebirth and his Duel of the Fates game. It was a premise that intrigued me and truthfully I missed the kind of storytelling experience that I used to have with my friend on JPLegacy and Jurassic Mainframe. And yeah, Duel of the Fates has been a blast so far.

So because of my nostalgia for my old storytelling games and because my love for the Jurassic Park franchise is still as strong as ever, I would like to maybe GM a Jurassic Park roleplay in the future and similar to how @Sinrebirth GMs. I have several potential ideas for what it could be like, depending on what interests people the most.

One is a game set in the original Jurassic Park during the late 20th century. Players can either be an Employee (a member of the Isla Nublar staff working for the genetic corporation InGen), an Intruder (someone working for the rival corporation Biosyn in their attempts to steal InGen assets), or a Visitor (someone who has been invited to the island either as part of the inspection team or for another reason).

My second idea is a game based on the second book and film, The Lost World. I think this would have a lot of potential for a game, because the premise is two rival factions with different goals: Gatherers and Hunters. The Gatherers want to document and protect the dinosaurs from exploitations, the Hunters want to harvest the dinosaurs for profit. This could lead to some interesting conflicts.

My third idea is similar to the first, but set in Jurassic World. You can either be a guest visiting the park, someone working for Masrani Global, or someone working for a third party.

Once again, not sure how many would be interested in.

An idea I had for a game. It would be a low fantasy, 1v1 that would follow the story of a young Norsemen trying to find their way in society and prove themselves a warrior. As a result, they would likely be about fifteen or sixteen years old.

And as you may be able to tell this is a rather 'romanticized version' of history. In the vein of epic classics like the Illiad, Odyssey, and Aeneid (which are firmly Greek tales I am aware)

    PM for more details/questions.

Mini-sodes! I have this idea for a game with a series of finite 2-week to 1-month long "episodes". One of my favorite games in 2020 was the pandemic short-game The Fall of Elyseum by @LordTroepfchen because it was promised to be quick, and had tight deadlines.

I find that my biggest detractor from RPing is that over the past couple of years I only get these finite windows of free time that open up and inevitably get filled back in with life. So, sometimes, I can't see a game to its conclusion.

Feeling the temperature of the room, I have an idea for a game that I'd like to flesh out in the next couple of weeks that would utilize this system of a finite time period start to finish.

    Basic mechanics:

    • Twice weekly deadline to respond to tags or risk being moved/killed by the GM.
    • Posts can be small.
    • Situational storyline that requires the players to move into the next chapter within 2-3 weeks.
    • The chapters build to the concluding chapter, which will be 1 month long with the remaining players.
    • Each new chapter would be open to new characters to join for their 2-3 week window, which could mean new characters, taking time off for Darth RL for players, and when the chapter may not use your character.
Should be there be interest, I'd like to flesh the game story itself and get back within a few days. Thoughts?

Second Chances - A Star Wars SHORTS game
    ---------

    THE STORY
We all know how it ended for Alderaan.

However, one line had hung on the Princess’ lips.

“Alderaan is peaceful, we have no weapons. You can't possibly—”

Had there been any sort of defense force, would it have mattered in that moment?

Perhaps not. But, in the years after the destruction of Alderaan, the existence of a nomadic convoy carrying all of the planet’s weapon had become the stuff of Legends. Spacers across the galaxy reported seeing a convoy of four ships drop of out hyperspace, then jump out again never to be seen again.

These rumors were quickly shot down by simple logistics. Fuel wasn’t infinite. Not to mention, the altruistic Ruling Council would never allow such a fleet to aimlessly roam the galaxy. It had to be a legend, a conspiracy theory born out of the need for hope.

But, the legend did have one constant thread shared in each of its retellings.

Twenty years before the fall of the Republic, Alderaan had publicly spearheaded a humanitarian relief mission to the planets in the Western Reaches and Outer Rim. A convoy of four ships - one CR-90 with three escorts - had been dispatched with the dual support of the Republic Senate and the Alderaan Ruling Council. Queen Breha herself had been at the launching ceremony. This mission would go into the edges of the Republic, carrying with it the best and brightest from Alderaan, but also hundreds others from the worlds of the Republic. In its last days of corruption under Chancellor Valorum, the government had come under the thumb of the monopolies of the Banking Clan, Trade Federation and Commerce Guild.

It was their hope that the Republic could be saved by growing more opportunities for trade and commerce. It had been intended as a regular convoy from the Core worlds to the Outer Rim worlds, bringing new products for traders, businessmen, and individuals looking for a fresh start. As the passenger list was open to anyone, there was also rumor that crime families, fugitives and others looking to hide were just as eager to get into new territories aboard the convoy. Even the Jedi were said to have sent an ambassador.

The ships were marvels as well. Crewed entirely by droids.

The first convoy had left Alderaan with much fanfare and it was theorized that the last of Alderaan’s great weapons had been smuggled aboard by the government to hide or dispose of safely in the Unknown Regions as a final leg of the mission. The story was that the humanitarian convoy was a cover.

    However, the convoy never arrived.

Regardless of the Spacer’s tales and those of desperate Alderaanians looking for a lost convoy, the one fact was that the Second Chances was in fact real. But what had happened to them? And was here any truth the theories of some lost weapons cache? Only those aboard and on Alderaan would know for sure. Alderaan is gone and in its wake, the Second Chances convoy's became Legend.

    This is their story.

    ————

The spacer absent-mindedly scratched at the week-long beard. It itched coming in, right at the neck. He looked at the droid across from him. He could hear its motors whirring as the headstock surveyed the room - an IG series. Nasty pieces of business, but word was they got the job done.

The spacer slid the holopuck across the table as he activated it. A few clicks and it came to life, displaying four ships in a triangle formation. The front-most ship was clearly a CR-90 Corvette.

The droid didn’t react. Though, should he have expected it to? Where were the eyes anyway? Those red things? Were those eyes? Did droids actually have eyes?

“So what’s your interest,” the spacer asked after another moment of silence.

“That’s irrelevant,” the droid vocoder droned on. “You’re sure of the location?”

The spacer turned off the holopuck and slid it back in his pocket.

“I’ve got last knowns confirmed by a helm officer aboard a -”

    “And you trust the source?”

“For the right price. But, hey, don’t get your servos in a tizzy. There ain’t no chance of survivors.”

    “Irrelevant.”

    “Dead or alive huh?”

    “It depends on your definition.”

    He leaned forward.

“Ah, so it’s cargo, huh? They carrying something you want.”

“Not exactly,” the droid said, spinning its head stalk slowly around the room. “Your price is acceptable. Payment is processing.”

The spacer leaned back, scratching at the beard again.

“Well, ah, pleasure doin business. Lost a buddy on that convoy myself. Would love to hear how it happened, but I guess that’s a little outside your interest.”

    He waved at the air.

    “Irrelevant,” he spit out.

“Inconsequential. I know how it happened,” the IG series said. “We were there. Or rather, he was.”

The spacer turned at the sound a blaster safety being disengaged. He didn’t make it a full circle before the blaster fired, and he was dead.

    ———

    PM for details

    ------

    The Basics:

There will be 6 Chapters (not counting the 1 week prologue)
    • Prologue/Character Introductions - 1 week
    • Chapter 1 - 3 weeks
    • Chapter 2 - 3 weeks
    • Chapter 3 - 3 weeks
    • Chapter 4 - 3 weeks
    • Chapter 5 - 3 weeks
    • Chapter 6 - 1 month

Think of this as a Star Wars mini-game. It’s a side story to the main events, meaning that all the film action is happening out there in a Galaxy Far, Far Away, but your characters have other concerns!

Over the course of 6 chapters, this game will span 67 years in the Star Wars universe - starting in the Prequel Era and concluding in the Resistance Era.

But with a game that has chapters only 3 weeks long, is character development really possible?

YES. That is, if your character survives long enough to make it to the end.

I’m also a huge fan of collaborative GMs that work with their players. We’ll work together to be sure that your characters get their spotlight.

How will the game be played?
    • GM updates are delivered every Monday and Friday. Chapters are Scenerio-based, meaning that each scenario will see a conclusion at the end of the chapter and we move ahead in three weeks to the next chapter to advance the story through time.
    • If you're familiar with the Another Chance storyline of the Legends, this game is not a retelling of that story, but shares its in-universe premise as a backdrop.
    • Player must commit to 3-weeks (or one chapter) for CS to be accepted.
    • If you don’t post weekly, you risk your character being moved by the GM and/or killed.
    • Game is capped at 10 players (as we progress through the chapters and scenarios, we’ll open up more players.)
Basics for Drafting Your Character Sheets:
    1) Characters can be from any walks of life

All characters types of welcome. The convoy was an open invitation to the best and brightest to help out the Western Territories and Outer Rim planets. However, to cover costs, the convoy also opened up the passenger to list to anyone looking to go to the Western Territories and Outer Rim. This could mean characters were going for a new life, to explore, or intended for a short trip. Farmers, smugglers, criminals…you name it. They’re open.

The lead ship, Second Chance, has hundreds of people on it. So, feel free to be creative! If you would like to fill a specific story-role, feel free to PM me.

    2) Character Knowledge

Despite the rumors that spread in the next 20 years, as far as your characters are concerned this is just a humanitarian mission. Any allusion to Alderaan’s weapons is pure conjecture.

    3) Game Limited at 10 players

This is to keep the game moving and help with the upcoming narrative. You may however have as any many characters as you’d like.

    4) The game starts in the Prequel Era, shortly before the events of The Phantom Menace.

    5) Following the 1 week prologue, the first chapter immediately deals with the disappearance of the convoy and your characters. Just FYI.

@Kalio_Dynkos that looks like an ambitious attempt at a game. I wish you best of luck.

As you did that shout out to my former game The Fall of Elyseum I thought I‘d throw a few of my insights from this rather unique pandemic driven game I did. Back in the days. Maybe any of my insights are useful to you.

    1. Three Weeks with 2 Updates a week is six updates per Episode which means: You work with scenes, not storylines. Basically you do a scene in three weeks. Just be aware that is what you got to tell whatever you wanna tell.

Then again the entire Elyseum consisted of 5 scenes per character.

    2. For an example of what your speed will look like, have a look at Episode X (mine, not the one up now). I did two updates a week there. So that is how quickly you are gonna move. Elyseum was daily updates. Basically 32 updates in 32 days. So that would take you 15 weeks at your speed. Keep it in mind when you craft the story.
    3. My feeling when I did Elyseum was, people enjoyed „the scene“ much more suddenly. I felt like „the game“ became less important really.
    4. You will be alright as long as you keep up the pacing. Telling a story in 30 - 40 updates is tough, so no fat. Trim all fat from your story. Make it lean … like a movie, not like a book.

My two cents before withdrawing back into obscurity.
    Good luck!
