Oooh, "Yarael Poof knows that candlelight is fire. Immediately". Yes, I thought about that all day. :p

You got a taste of anything to come yet Quest?

I haven't done any graphical work yet, no. But I did spend some downtime at work today sketching a rough doodle of the ideas I have (I have one for the Season 10 mid-season premiere, and another (with 2 posisble variants) for if we get a Season 11 announcement), so I hope to start the one tommorow. Will certainly be "fun" trying to match the washed-out color effect of that group pic for the people I hope to add to it (not to mention extend that background somehow...) ;)

How about this for a Poofism: "Yarael Poof has seen Stargate nine times." ::)

(not that it's particularly important to me, seeing as none of my browsers ever show the Poof-comments, shy during image loading ;) )

I recently completed SG-1 seasons 4 and 5 (I have waaay too much free time) and I am currently watching season 8 (I have all the seasons on hold at my local library, and they reach the hold shelf out of order so I take 'em as I can get 'em) and there just seems to be something wrong about it. Aside from some episodes being vastly confusing due to me not having seen 6 and 7 yet, I am deeply distressed by the lack of "planet of the week" episodes that I enjoyed in earlier seasons, instead there are these huge story arcs and continuations of events from previous seasons. I am somewhat disappointed. Perhaps I can enjoy it more after I see seasons 6 and 7.
Oh and then there's the lack of Jack O'Neill...at least when he appears, he brings that adorable smartassery with him in just the right amount of doses...his sarcastic remarks got kinda tiresome after awhile with the previous seasons I've viewed, (then again I watched 2 seasons in 2 weeks so...) especially how his attitude started to rub off on Daniel Jackson (c'mon you're supposed to be the nerdy scientist! these missions only have room for one smartass!)
So yeah all those "uh....right...," "...and that means...what exactly???" "So yeah,...what now???" "well that's.... what... a....bad thing?" remarks got kinda [face_tired]o_O after a while, but like I said, used sparingly in the 8th season is perfect...just the right dose.

You'd probably appreciate 8 more after seeing 6 & 7- Daniel is changed, understandable, at first in his post-ascension, but gradually starts to regain his character, but he is changed, though he core values stay mostly the same. There'd also be things like the ships, Anubis's fleet and supersoliders, human form replicators, tritonin, etc that were gradually introduce dover those seasons.

Jack does have a gradually reduced presence starting in season 6, continuing in 7, leading to his promotion in 8, and further promotion between 8 & 9 (where, shy a cameo at the start and a few appearances in 10, Anderson left the show).

Yeah that would be a hard jump actually.

Season 8 was a bit odd. RDA is still there but in such a limited respect its effectively a cameo appearance for him that season. Its kind of been a running joke (that even he has gotten in on) that he pretty much phoned in that last season.

Guess it could of been more confusing. You could of skipped right into season 10 :p

Season 9 would of made a nice jump on point though.

    Nice.

I like the outside curve for the gate.

    Making your own stylesheet eh?

I'm going to have to take the easy way out on that regard and just steel the generic one.

Yeah, the curve came out good- finding a good gate image with enoguh of it exposed was tricky, so it wa sthe last component to go in.

For the most part, it came out how I wanted it to- though I wanted to include a couple more "allies" to the right of Jonas, but it would have crowded the Ori fire skull, so I left it at just Woolsey and Chekov.

The "BSG ad holders" probably could have been a bit smoother, but the photography for those various episodes varies so much it's about as good as it'll get without going crazy on the color adjustments.

    >>Making your own stylesheet eh?<<

If people feel it's the best one to submit as our SG-1 banner, then, yeah, I will make one.

    Hello everyone!

    I just registered at TF.Net, and I'm a massive SG1 fan.

I was wondering, does anyone have a "Save StarGate" type thing going here/elsewhere?
Because I don't know about anyone else, but I would love an 11th season.

As much as I love Stargate, I think the main show has run it's course. Have it end with a gigantic ori/Ancient battle. It's been a hell of a ride and we still have Atlantis.

I figure we can submit the one we choose from those posted here to the SFAF mods to post as we approach to return opf the show in April. Give me enough time to update my BSG/SG ad holders- I keep finding more crossover actors!

They could have easily done another season based on existing and dangling plot threads alone. Figure you have at least 5 episodes dealing with the major strokes of the Ori story arc (a season premiere cliffhanger resolution [had Season 10 ended with one as planned], a two-parter mid season and a 2-parter Ori resolution [representing what will be the first DVD movie] at the near-end of the season), another 2 to include the forthcoming timetravel DVD movie, then maybe a third Aschen arc episode, a followup/resolution to the Foothold aliens, another episode dealing with the Lucien Alliance, then toss in a Jaffa-centric episode, a Tok'ra-centric episode, maybe give us one last episode with Jonas and, of course, the series finale episode that we're getting in Season 10 now. That's 14 episodes right there off the top of my head, and those other 6 slots could be easily filled out by other plot threads I'm not remembering offhand, and a few original stand-alones; either of which could even plausibly deal with less major aspects of the Ori arc. Would have been a heck of a season, alas...

So, I've been watching Season 9, and I love it! I haven't even finished it, but it's more than made up for Season 8, which is in my opinion, one of the worst seasons. Cameron Mitchell started out as a newbie, but by Episodes 10/11, The Fourth Horseman 1 & 2, he and Jackson complimented each other so well, I was impressed. I just wish his assimilation into SG-1 could have been just a tad more gradual. It seemed too abrupt. Also, I hope to see that he develops similar relationships with Teal'c and Carter.
Other great things about this season: Harriman being featured more prominently. Yessss! One of my favorite supporting characters. The new general dude is cool too, but as of episode 12 (as far as I've gotten) I think they're going about developing him wrong. The only way we learn more about him is when he interacts with his estranged daughter, Dr. Lam or whatever her name is, but I really can't see this story arc going anywhere. I'll give it time of course. Of course one of the great things about Hammond was his history with Jack, so there was already this established, and hilarious, relationship between the two of them. Not so for the new guy. He's only got the character of his daughter to play off of, and like i said, it really doesn't seem to be going anywhere.
The Ori make a nice addition to the show, and the episodes I've seen ask the question: What really constitutes a God? Teal'c has some great moments when he speaks at the Free Jaffa council, and Mitchell's speech about how humans on Earth only need faith to believe in God(s), as opposed to "dark-sided intergalactic encyclopedia salesmen" with a bag of magic tricks was outstanding.

So we can give enough time for it to be uploaded, let's say the cut off date for any other SG-1 banner submissions is next sunday? That'll give people this week and a weekend to work on any they've bene intending to make or finish ones they've been working on. Then we can decide which one to pass onto the SFAF mods for approval and then to an admin to upload.

I have watched the show off and on, but what really is stupid is the fact that they never bother telling the world about what is going on, despite everything that happens. Maybe I missed that episode, but with the Russians and a bunch of secret groups running around pluss all the military people, there is no way that people wouldn't figure it out. Sure it was plausible for several years, but with space battles above earth plus interplanetary space travel via real ships, there comes a point where it just wouldn't make sense to keep everyone in the dark. With the new technology they could have easily jump started development. The other big thing is that it is totally stupid for them to continue to run high-risk missions from Earth. They needed to seriously colonize other worlds, by the tens of thousands, and use foward operating bases to launch the high risk missions.

There have been some attempts to tell the world what's going on, and it's formed a couple of smaller storylines towards the latter seasons. In the beginning, only the US knew about the project. As the series progresses, Russia, then England, China, France and a couple other larger companies knew, as well as a number of corperations who supply the military with tech. A couple of episodes go to the future, where in several alternate histories, earth is eventually told the truth.
