I'll bet he's obligated by the hierarchy of the institution to sever ties with the show, whether or not he particularly wants to. Scientologists are not allowed to be associated with mockery of Scientology.

 

I was thinking the same thing as what has been posted a lot in this thread already, why is he leaving now over religion when he's been with the show close to 10 years now.

 

That is probably correct. The heads of Scientology will do their best to ruin you in the public eye if you go against them, especially if you are one of their own.

 

And I thought being associated with Scientology was enough by itself to ruin anyone in the public eye.
