Discussion Kevin Feige to Produce New Standalone Star Wars Film

Cool. I liked Loki. It wasn't OMG-tastic, but the concept was interesting and the delivery adequate.
Michael is still young though, both as a person and as a professional writer. He's just getting started. This movie being more of a stand-alone thing than his previous work also bodes well.

 

Sure.

Though…also another white male who’s written some pretty mediocre scripts that aren’t exactly lauded by critics. You have Famuyiwa, for example, who’s written and directed some of the best Star Wars content in years, and he’s nowhere to be found. Hopefully we’ll find him attached to one of the upcoming projects.

Point is that there’s so much talent out there, and I find this choice pretty uninspired.

But here’s to hoping Waldron proves me wrong.

 

Keeping my expectations low so hopefully I’m pleasantly surprised. His Community and Rick and Morty stuff I like, so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. Just want to see really high-quality writing for the next set of films, that’s all.

Well to be fair...You've proven you have bad taste for not liking the Lord of the Rings films so....

 

I suppose if I went into those films with the desire to watch a tear roll down Elijah Wood’s face for half an hour, I’d have enjoyed them more.

 

Doctor Strange 2 wasn't that bad

 

I hope Feige is not going forward. The MCU has turned into garbage.

 

That’s why the tagline for this new Star Wars film will be. “From the writer of the not-that-bad Dr. Strange 2.”

 

Which is weird, since the screenwriter literally just mentioned writing the script. Maybe this is one of those situations where the film is in an exploratory phase?

Correct. The interview took place before Kenobi began its marketing push so it probably took place before the first teaser was released.

 

Lets just see what they announce at celebration....either way hopefully all the "Ready,Fire,Aim" days are done with project/director announcements

 

Regarding Michael Waldron.... for whatever it is worth, he's actually been behind the only two Phase Four Marvel projects (Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) I've actually really dug.

 

Well, usually, it's more "a" script, than "the" script.

 

The article has been updated to explain that Michael Waldron is currently writing the script and that the interview took place earlier this year.
