also how powerful really is this kid ?

put three jedi in your party, wear the best armor you can (I think I wore davik's), and then do you're best. Try using stun of stasis or other force powers then striking with lightsabers. Use grenades if you have them.
He wasn't too difficult, I think I killed him on the second try, and he has some goodies for you after he's dead, so you definitly want to do it.

How do you access grenades? I have two on my inventory, but I can't access them.

sorry, LucasBuiltMeHotRod, I put my stategy for the madelorian up a few posts, but I accidently copied something else and put it as a quote instead of your question. The mandelorian isn't hard if you have 3 jedi in your party.
Another strategy you can always use is not to level up until you're in a heated battle then pause it, and level up and you'll have full health without wasting a move.

Sorry, I'm not that far yet :(

But I have a question, in regards to this statement:

near the enterence to the rancor lair there is a corpse with some cannisters that contain the scent of the rancor's favorite prey. I put one of those and a few grenades in the pile of corpses, and the rancor ate it and blew

I've obtained the "scent" and the grenades, but I have a question, how do you activate/use the scent and the grenades? The Party Inventory - All Items page shows the scent and the grenades, but I whenever I try to activate them, it says they are not usable or equiptable. How am I suppose to use them?

You "open" the corpse/pile of corpses like a container, then put the scent inside with some grenades (frag, plasma or your explosive of choice). Once you do that, a cutscene starts where the rancor is shown picking up the deadly burrito, he chews on it, it explodes and the big bad monster falls dead. A priceless moment, though not very rewarding (XP wise), unfortunately.

A funny bug in the game: once you approach the rancor corpse, you get a container-like ring symbol, then a message telling you to shoot the object (in this case the big rancor hulk) to get to this container. So me and my party start shooting the rancor til it "breaks". By this I mean that I simply walked forward and into the rancor's 3D model (no disgusting insides stuff, thankfully, but a disturbing look from the inside out of the model), walked towards the head and out, and when I turned around, the rancor had faded away, but no prize to be found anywhere!

That's is the case with all the large animals in the game. It's not telling you there's a canister, it says "remains". You have a choice of slashing up the remains so they are no longer laying there. If you don't I think they dissapear anyway.

Is there anyone who has beaten the game or gotten as far as I am who could be of some assistance? The Force is not serving me well right now.

They are not endless, but I know they seemed endless when I fought them last night. I wasn't being challenged, just bored, so I turned it down to easy for a bit to kill them faster.

    Timmy,
2 of the journals are in the sewers.

Thanks to all that helped me with those damn tiles. I finished the game last night as the ultimate baddy, and oh my god! I love this game. Next I'm going to play as a boring good person. Later on I'll probablly go from good to evil and from evil to good. This game has so many possibilities.

The tiles gave me trouble for about 5 minutes, until I realized the one off the big square was just for resetting, and didn't have to be activated.

Ok I got past that and now I'm fighting the deathmatch with Malak, I used up the last remaining captured Jedi so he couldn't use it, now all I gotta do is go toe to toe with him until he falls. I love medpacs and Force Heal.

    Semi-spoiler:

BTW am I the only guy here who thinks Bastila is gorgeous and even more of a knock out when she turns to the Dark Side?

Well, I've come across my first major gripe of the game. The final battle with Malak, though cool, is way out of scale difficulty-wise with the rest of the game, even for a final confrontation. It's one thing to build up towards a final conflict with the enemies and puzzles getting more and more difficult as the game progresses, and then a dramatic jump in difficulty for the final battle, but so far KOTOR has mainly been a matter of a few tougher fights, a lot of cakewalk fights, and then suddenly a final battle that's virtually impossible to win, especially for a light-side character.

This almost reminds me of the way a lot of shorter games will be artificially lengthened by making the save points ridiculously few and far between so that you keep dying and having to replay large chunks of the game over and over again.

I don't want to give anything away here, but I've figured out the beauty of plasma mines, and I know where Malak is getting his power. But they've made Malak SO much stronger than the main character that even with full stim and shield protection, running around during the second phase of the fight "taking care of business" as far as removing Malak's aces-in-the-hole, I last about 10-15 seconds in combat with him. Going face-to-face, I generally tend to last about 5-10 seconds. At a certain point, after fighting this battle a few dozen times and getting absolutely nowhere, it's really gotten to the point where it's not all that fun for me anymore.

It's almost as if BioWare cranked the difficulty on this last battle up so as to add another 5 hours or so to the "average game time" of KOTOR, and after the rest of the game being so well-crafted, I'm a bit disappointed that they've done the old artificial game-time extension routine on the game right at the end.

I'll beat it eventually, the game has just taken a nose-dive for me enjoyment-wise at this point.

I beat the game with a neutral 3 Scoundrel/17 Jedi Sentinel. When it came to Malak, I had to rely on the combination of Force Storm, followed by Death Field. Force Storm would push him away and damage him, then I would quickly zap him with Death Field. Then as he charged me I would hit him with Force Storm again and repeat the process. Worked pretty well..... until my Force points ran out. I used Death Field to make his "aces" my "aces". :D Then I had to start poping all those stims and rely on my Life packs to out duel him. I'm guessing a Soldier or Scout/Guardian would have no problems with Malak. What character combo are you using, Patrick?

I'm going through the game as a Dark Side 3 Scout/17 Consular this time around. With my huge Force point pool and offensive Force powers, I just know that this time around Malak is going to be a pushover. :D

When you are on the Star Forge and Malak turns the station against you, and all those droids keep attacking you, is there a trick to stop it, or do you just have to keep fighting and it will eventually end?

Slice the computers next to where they spawn. I kept trying to but could never do it. After 30 minutes of fighting I figured maybe I didn't have to fight them, so I broke out of combat. It was then that I realized that you can't select items while in combat. Once out of combat I was finaly able to target the door so I just opened it and followed Malak. But from what I hear, everytime you kill a droid it drops a Computer spike in the barrel next to a computer terminal. Break combat, grab the spike and then slice the computer console to deactivate the droids.
