The novelization said "Nearly twice as big, but more than twice as powerful. Yet it was only half complete".

But if one bit of that's been retconned, maybe other bits will be as well.

    I'd never take that literally.

As an author, it's really hard to resist a phrase like, "Nearly twice as big, but more than twice as powerful. Yet it was only half complete". It's neat and sweet and clean and green. But literal? Nah....

    one stone... nice pun :p

Why build a Death Star if they can grow it and then just put plates on it while drilling levels and tunnels into it! Mount Sorrow was a baby planetoid! or what's left of it!

I must say, Ceiran, Zor, your commitment to thread anarchy is admirable.

Insurrectionary anarchy with Dadaist overtones. Let's not be lax with terminology.

Going from "nearly twice as big" to "nearly 6 times as wide" is a bit of a jump though.

I'd be ok with "half-complete" being an approximation, allowing for a bit less or a bit more.

Mount Sorrow is a baby Zonama Sekot (or whatever that species is), they grow on other planets and it's sad because it can't communicate with its mother planet (Endor) because it's not sentient! Problem solved!

    That gave me an idea.

What we see is the shell about half done in star wars 3. What if that's pretty much all that is done? What we saw is the shell, a docking bay, some barracks are probably needed, and a meeting room. So basically only 2 or 3 floors. Nothing contradicts this statement as we don't see how much of the inside is complete, we only see the outside!

My point exactly. Also, we seem hell-bent on assuming that every, say, 1% of the station's total mass required the same construction time as every other 1%, when in reality, even if the DS looked entirely complete, half the work could still have yet to happen inside. See my house analogy earlier--the surface could be the easiest part.

See? Mount Sorrow was happy back when he was still working on the Death Star!

Then the Empire shaved off his tash and buried him in a mountain.

So, since this is anarchy, and since no one is voting, should we move on?

    4/4 votes were for 1.

If it's anarchy, why are you asking permission?

Because it's anarchy, not monarchy. No one rules, so people can do whatever the hell they please but have to agree on issues that affect everyone in order for society to function. So, I propose that we take it in turns to act as a sort of executive officer for the week. All the decisions that officer makes will have to be ratified at a special biweekly meeting, by a simple majority in the case of purely internal affairs, but by a two-thirds majority in the case of more--

    Ah, screw it.

    1 wins.

    ROUND 2:

    A. Empire be quick
    B. DS2 is made of other big stuff/readymade components
    C. They were making it before 0 BBY

    D. What we see is what is finished. What we see as mostly done is actually just the shell.

    I'm adding D because ANARCHY!

Did the Imperials working on the DS2 wear an specific HATs? that may affect my vote..

And please if you create voting options do it so that it makes sense. Options that are mutually exclusive... or more options for all variants.. like what if the Empire built it already before 0BBY, was still quick because they made it out of other components? *sigh*

A means that the Empire built all of the visible structure that we see in the comic in 3 months, just like that. No components, from scratch.

B means that the Empire built all of the visible structure that we see in the comic in 3 months using prefabricated components, either scrapped construction projects or actual prefab components. Not from scratch, components.

C means that the Empire started building it before sources tell us it did, so that it was not made in 3 months as in the above options. Components, from scratch, whatever, it was started before 0 BBY.

    Mutually exclusive.

A is the tombstone of L-Canon.

In hopes of crushing it, I vote C.

If we can vote twice because of anarchy, that means right now it's 3/4th win for A.

I'm calling anarchy and shutting down more voting for this retcon! A wins! Next L-Canon problem!
