I’m excited to be here! I have to admit I tend to avoid the spotlight, so this is a little strange for me! I’m doing fine since I’m not sweating like a pig for once!

Nothing much new for me except this cool show! I’m nervous but picked out this nice outfit to wear. Haha!

Haha, I know right! hope our co-host is ok.

How I discovered Star Wars, ah this will take me back. My dad was always a huge Trekkie/Star Wars nut. He had - and still has - original posters, records, and some weird old board game which I always remember the pieces missing but desperately wanting to play it, lol. I remember listening to Disco Star Wars on record too! Super groovy lol. I admit I didn’t really know much at the time about the characters or story.

This carries on to the next question. I think I became a fan around the mid 90s. For some reason I have a distinct memory from 1995, I saw the words Return.of the Jedi remastered on the movie theatre billboard. I didn’t know what Jedi meant. lol. I just remember these remastered versions being extremely popular. Soon after I watched A New Hope with my brother and dad on tv. I LOVED IT! I watched it over and over, I’ve seen it countless times to this day. Then we rented Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi on video! Oh man, the sounds! The Star Destroyer coming into Hoth, launching a probe droid… I seriously love the sound of probe droids and chicken walkers lol. The whole Hoth scene just grabbed me, it was SO cool! Return of the Jedi was an incredible continuation of the story, with a wonderful ending.

I actually was satisfied with those three. They were perfect. But in 1999, we know what came along! Prequels! Oh, I was so excited to see kid Anakin before he was Vader, and young Obi-wan! My brother and I kept getting my dad to buy cases of Pepsi - on sale - to get those collector cans! We lookec forward to it for months. It was the first Star Wars I actually saw in the theatre, and I loved it! I distinctly remember some scenes, like I can see the theatre around me. I had no clue who Qui-Gon was yet, but I sure remember him opening that door. “Now there are two of them!” Haha.

What made me join the forums is actually kind of strange. I don’t know why I didn’t do it earlier! Haha, seriously, I was unaware of it. I’m a gamer type, I found myself immersed in my online games, and just wanting to read about everything Star Wars from real fans on top of just playing it. It’s actually been about a year since I joined! I was drawn to the friendliness and honestly I felt welcome here. A lot of forums tend to toxic, but this one is so different and I love it! There’s tons of cool people here and I hope if anyone is debating joining that they do, you won’t regret it!

I also remember I won a small r2d2 poster in a bag of Doritos.

george lucas killed it by keeping the merchandising rights. one of the biggest mistakes by FOX.

I just loved that time. 97 we had the special editions and then the prequel trilogy began in 99. it was a beautiful time to grow up in.

Important question there!!

 

Remember the vhs tapes had those introductions with George Lucas about some of the scenes they added for the special edition.

VHS those were the days lol.

 

Ok so, here’s the funny thing. The version I’m familiar with is my dad’s old VHS, original version. Han definitely shot first, lol.

The special edition wimped out. Greedo shot first. Now, of course, this is the version everyone will be familiar with. The original became hard to find afterwards, lol.

To answer the question, I loved the special editions with enhanced explosions and such. I didn’t really notice small differences long ago. I’ve even noticed changed scenes in the sequels from things I remember in the theatre to the bluray edition, and it’s usually worse. Some things shouldn’t be changed. Han shot first. Haha!

Haha, I didn’t expect it, creative, I must say!

The prequels are my favourite right behind the originals. I looked forward to them all, and it was a wonderful time to grow up in. It was all the rage! Being able to see them and experience them brand new was awesome! They made a huge impact cuz I remember seeing each one in great detail. More characters, ships, and planets, the sounds were just wow! Pod racers, seismic charges, the battle droids unfolding and their voices lol, Geonosis and the droid factory, lightsaber fights! Darth Maul and the deadly music as he scans Tatooine! Republic gunships! Cool clones! I want to watch them right now! Haha!

I really liked the Gungan battle scene on Naboo against the droids, lol. The way the shield came down. “Steady…” lol. Gungans are cool, dang it!

I’m one of few people who always liked Jar-jar, lol. His cool floppy ears, his voice, his funky walk, he really is awesome. I don’t care what people say, he’s been one of my favourites since. I have a full head Jar-jar mask because he is super cool. I can walk like him, too, haha. I’d join him and the gungans against droids any day, lol.
