I agree with Todd the Jedi on this one. It gets old with the pt bashing and the adding of new awakward scenes. I sincerely thought that this was a retelling of the movies, instead, its a way to add Rebels in there, and make fun at the PT and glorify some more the OT characters. I'm wondering what the next one will be about. But probably more of the same. The best one that I like is the Watto stuff........New place for scum and villainy. Classic.

There was some gold in this one, there always is. Watto's bar was cool but my favourite gag is when Han shot down the other TIE Fighter "Just like I intended!" and then Chewie looks at him and Han goes "Just like I intended!"

The Rebels side story was a fun aside. I get the feeling both the ROTJ / ESB eps will feature a "new" 6 minute Threepio / Artoo adventure to start then go into a proper adaptation of the flicks.

I don't like the PT bashing in these. I also find it rather incredible that they aren't just bashing the prequels, they are rewriting the prequel storyline, in an official Star Wars product. Not canon, I know, but still baffling to me. The pandering to the hater crowd really infuriates me, and I worry that a similar subtle influence will be seen in the new films. The fact that they started the last TFA trailer with the "practical effects, etc" line, just goes to show how hard they are reaching out to those who hate the prequels.

These little droid cartoons are fun and I enjoy them, but I do not appreciate Star Wars content that blatantly bashes other Star Wars content.

They also make fun of the OT in several scenes.

I'll feel a bit better about it if I see that, I haven't watched all of them yet.

I guess in general, I have PTPTSD. So tired of constant hatred of the PT from everyone I've ever spoken to outside this board. So I am overly sensitive to slights about it.

A example is they make fun of the fact theta Chewie did not get a meddle.

    Among other things.

Interestingly, in the newest junior novelization (A New Hope: The Princess, the Farmboy and the Scoundrel) he does get a medal.

There's also quite a few bonus scenes in that book.

My 3 year old niece loves the show and loves Star Wars and Darth Vader because of these Lego cartoons. They're great in my book, plus the subtle references make me laugh.

The DVD for this released on Tuesday, my copy just arrived in the mail. I had been holding off of the Lego Star Wars releases just because after the great Padawan Menace blu-ray, they had really gone to hell with going DVD only and releasing hardly any content to disc. The Empire Strikes Out was 21 mins, DVD only, and zero features. Yoda Chronicles had two of the three episodes. New Yoda Chronicles atleast had the full series up to that point, but they still were missing that episode from the previous series.

Anyway, Droid Tales may not have had a blu-ray, but it is feature length at 120 mins and it has a nice embossed metallic slipcover as well as trading cards (collect all three sets). Well worth the $12 from Amazon.
