Mara's letter is dead-on. Very true to form.

You need to do Luke, Nom Anor, Han, and Anakin next. Not in any particular order, mind you.

I absolutely adore these letters. The Jacen one had be rolling on the floor!! The Mara one was very true to her personality.

Please do Anakin! And Tahiri, too...she'd be so mad at the authors for making her a schizophrenic and killing her boyfriend...Then Tenel Ka and Zekk.

Yet another great letter, Kettch. I hadn't even thought about the Mara connection with Anakin's death. I wonder, could we see one from him? Even if he is in ghost form? I'd also like to see one from Corran, who seemed really kinda hit and miss. He'd play a big role in one book, then drop out for several. What's up with that? Or how about Corran suddenly taking Gavin Darklighter's command away from him?

I love that line.. lol Excellent work on Mara! Gosh, I love these.. You should write one for Luke, and Jaina and Jag. Why? Because Jag's personality changed in ever book. So ish to that.. Anxiously awaiting the next addition.

I thought Mara's letter to the idiot authors was perfect. Talk about hitting the nail on the head... Now, can you please take up the torch for Luke because if anyone has been screwed in this series, it's Luke. I thought I missed his ceremony being made head Monk. I have always been a true blue SW fan but I couldn't finish reading this series. It was pure awful. I ended up hating Jacen, missing Anakin and NOT wanting to know how it all ended. I DO wish they would just apologize for the huge mistake and rewrite those years. Kind of like "Dallas" and "it all being a bad dream". LOL! Now that dates me...

These are great. I think you need to do one from Wedge, Tycho, Wes and Hobbie. First of all, the authors make it seem as if Wedge and Tych are arthritic old dotters who are past their prime and can barely take care of themselves - and they are only in their early to mid 40s yet they make them sound as though they are in their 80s and that Wedge is much older than Tych! Wes gets almost no page time and who the frell knows what happened to Hobbs, he is completely forgotten.

The Jacen and Mara letters were fantastic! That's def. what they would say. I always felt bad for how they handled Jacen in NJO. *shakes head* I'll never understand the minds of the authors sometimes. Anywho, write Zekk next or Tenel Ka, even Raynar. They screwed with some of the best characters and turned them into strangers, helpless Queens or just killed them off. I mean common! They killed off or just ignored almost all of the YKJ characters. In Jaina's case they had her going out with a piece of cardboard over Zekk. What the heck is with that! Jag had about as much personality as a piece of dirt. Common that was rediculious. Though maybe i'm being hard on the writters but i don't think so.

Hah, glad you used my ship line! And yes, though you should do the Tahiri and Anakin letters as one. And you have to mention that Anakin wouldn't wait so damned long to kiss her, or team up with a Vong, or just run away from his dad after Chewie's death, or not listen to Tahiri. And Tahiri wouldn't go all crazy, or go Vongish, and if she did she'd go dark Jedi on the Vong killin' 'em!

Thanks. I do hope to get around to Luke's but I'm kind of putting his off until the end because he's going to be harder to do than Mara I think (mostly because I'm not so enthralled by his character).

Yeah, Leia's one of the characters I am most upset about. I didn't put her in because it would be hard to summarize how they mutilated her character in just one phrase. Actually, I have a feeling that when I do her letter it could end up being the longest. And, considering how much they messed up, I don't think the "proffessional" authors would get these letters. But that does give me an idea to have them respond to these letters... hmmm... that could be quite amusing.

I wonder (if the characters were real) if any of the SW characters were happy with their portrayal and/or situations in the NJO series. None comes to mind... :0 And, yeah, it may take that many posts to do all the wronged characters.

I'm glad you liked the letters so far. I put Danni and Tendra on my list of characters to do. They truly did mutilate them. It still aggrivates me that Jacen-who-was-written-as-a-dreamy-not-so-down-to-earth-character figured out the whole Sekot thing before Danni, a brilliant scientist. Make sense? Of course not!!! URg! Maybe we should make "NJO Authors" a curse. For example, someone keeps making huge mistakes so instead of calling them an "idotic piece of slime" you call them an "NJO author". Doesn't have the same ring to it but it sure does express their character better.

I did like writing it, although I still think the funiest thing I ever wrote was a portion in one of my fanfics about Wedge and Wes (but you would have to have read the X-Wing books to really understand it). Thanks. I didn't see the connection either until someone mentioned that both her "apprentices" had bad things happen to them. And I am planning on doing Anakin after Tahiri (whose letter should be up tomorrow). As for Corran, I put him on the list too. I never noticed that he took command from Gavin. Do you remember what book that was in? (I want to use it for his letter).

I'm glad you liked that line. I took me a long time to figure out how to start the letter and I'm happy with how it came out. I added Jag to the list (Luke and Jaina are already on it) but as you pointed out his is going to be hard to do because with all the switching (and no reference beyond the NJO to anchor refer back to) I'm not even sure I "get" his character. But I will try (although his will be further down the road since I am trying to do the letters mostly in order of request). Thanks for the 'up'.

Thanks. Yes, I will do Luke (probably after Anakin) but his will probably be a long one also. Too much mess up by the authors. I had a hard time finishing the series also. Normally I buy a new book the day it comes out and have it finished within a few hours of getting it. By the end of the series, I was waiting a week or more (a month for TUF) and taking days to read the books. I ended up hating Jacen, missing Anakin and NOT wanting to know how it all ended. I definitely agree! I DO wish they would just apologize for the huge mistake and rewrite those years. That would make me SOOOOO elated. I'm happy just thinking of the possibility. Or should I say the "impossibility". Maybe they would do it it they realized they could make more money off it....

I definitely agree about the "old" Rogues. Amazing how the Solos and Skywalkers (some of which are older than them) can do so much more. I'm really not surprised, though, that they were so left out: I would bet quite a bit that Alliston was the only NJO Author who realized that "X-Wing Series" didn't refer to a group of SW ships. It's so sad.

You did get a response. It just took me a while to get through the earlier responses (I did them in order of posting). And, yeah, I do want to do Wedge. Besides Alliston the authors took a potentially great character and turned him into... well... actually they turned him into nothing but a flat character with very little purpose to the storyline except to have his name branded about. Sad...

 

"NJO authors" is a wonderful curseword, I should really try it... (You have no idea how much fan fiction has increased my vocabulary of swear words.) But it might need to be a bit more specific, because some of the books were good... (sigh - if only Del Rey had drafted Zahn! )

Great point about Danni! I was very happy in the beginning to find that there was going to be a scientist (and a female one at that ) in the series (Star Wars has far too few scientists). And then she basically is reduced to... filler. She never really does anything important. If my memory is correct, then Danni ended up staying on Zonama Sekot with Tahiri and Tekli (She gets to do something! ), which would make an interesting story, if you think about it... (*smacks muse on head* NO MORE STORY IDEAS!)

Ahem... I personally would like to see Luke's letter...

She chatted with the biogeneticists, she mentioned to Jacen that they'd found a genetic sequence unique to the Vong and their creatures, Jacen mentioned that to Vergere, Vergere realised the implication and neutralised the first batch of Alpha Red, and that delayed its deployment long enough for a victory to be won and Alpha Red made a last resort rather than an immediate tool.

But please, please, please!! Don't forget to do Han! He's so sarcastic naturally that it'd be awesome! That whole him-running-away-from-Leia-and-all-his-problems thing! Not to mention Chewie dying!!

You killed Anakin, irrevocably stuffed a Yuuzhan Vong personality in me, and forced me to wear shoes. I hate you. You?re definitely not a worthy sacrifice. Anakin was supposed to be the hero in the NJO, not that dummy Jacen. You should have killed him. You should have killed them both. Why did you kill my Anakin? How could you do this to me? And as for kissing Jacen...I?d rather kiss a droolin? Hutt. Anakin would never want me to kiss his brother, Yuuzhan Vong don?t kiss. Great post there, Kettch. I loved the fact that you incorporated both sides of Tahiri's personality. Although I thought by the the end she'd managed to reconcile the two somewhat. I guess I was just a bit wrong.

Loved the Ewok post, though the misspellings made it a bit tough to understand. Then again, when they can't exactly speak Basic, I guess I should have been prepared.

Great job, can't wait to see Anakin's letter from beyond the grave.
