Resource Looking for threads but you only have the IGN URL?

I did a few quick checks and found that most of the thread numbers haven't changed from IGN.

For example, the Prolifc Writers' Index used to be:
- boards.theforce.net/fanfiction_resource/b10304/25405090/

But now it's:
- boards.theforce.net/threads/prolific-fan-fiction-writers-index.25405090/

All you have to do is change the bit in yellow to the bit in blue. Actually, you don't need most of the blue bit, just the part that goes threads/

That is to say, change:
- boards.theforce.net/b10304/25405090/
to:
- boards.theforce.net/threads/25405090/
and you should have the new URL.

For those of you who prefer to regex replace everything in one go:

(boards\.theforce\.net/)[^/]+/b[0-9]+(/[0-9]+/)
->
$1threads$2

Add backslashes to slashes if you need to.

I have a question! This is great for urls like that, but what about urls like this:

http://boards.theforce.net/board.asp?brd=10304

Is there something snazzy you can do with that?

Assuming you're talking about threads and not forums - IIRC, those URLs looked like:
- boards.theforce.net/message.asp?brd=10304&topic=65535
. . . or something like that, right?

The number after topic= is what you need, so:
- boards.theforce.net/threads/65535/

As for the forums, it looks like the non-merged forums have retained their IGN numbers. E.g., Resource is still 10304.
- boards.theforce.net/forums/10304

From the looks of it, Wayback goes only up to Dec of 2011 atm. I think it takes about 6 months for new stuff to show up, so it *might* show stuff up to the move by now or will by Dec.

Forgot to mention this, but thought others might be interested. The old board numbers still work for all the old boards. However, if they have been merged then you'll find the archived boards. For example, YJCC was merged with Amph but using the board number for YJCC will take you to the YJCC Archive.
