Yeah they bring that up in like the first five minutes of the film.

Say what you will about Shyamalan the man knows suppense. There are parts in his movies where you know something is coming, then he tells you its comming, and yet still you jump when it comes.

He's even taken to emulating the late great hitchcock in more than just his style and suppense. After his cameos in Sixth Sense (Dr. Hill) and Unbreakable (the Drug Dealer) he now has a full on supporting role in this one. It almost makes me wonder if the next one will just be 2 hr. of Shyamalan playing diffrent roles you know kinda like Austin Powers 3.

Signs looks incredibly stupid considering the fact that we know how they were faked.

There was a whole documentary on the subject.
The guys go plot it, and then go around in circles using a wooden board to press down the stalks.

    >Not that I believe in Aliens, not that I don't<

I may have seen that show if not something of that sort.

But, there are people (artists) who go out and make crop circles. Now these people remain anomalus mostly because what they do is vandalizing property.

But there have been studies of "fake" crop circles and "real" crop circles.
And there is actually a big difference between them. Such as in the "real" crop circles not a single (I guess) stock is broken, but in the "fake" ones many of the stocks are broken.

There is also video pictures of strange lights making crop circles. The lights flew over the wheat fields and the wheat just bent down by itself. Now it looked real to me.

And crop circles date back over hundreds of years. And I don't think that hoaxers were really there much back then

But really the point is that it doesn't matter if crop circles are "real" or "fake" or if aliens are "real" or "fake". It just matters that aliens and crop circles are real in the movies. And that is all that matters in a film.

Yeah as opposed to those lazer swords and faster than light engines that are just right around the corner [face_plain]

If thats your best reason for not seeing this movie I feel sorry for you.

I think you really have to be into comic books to love Unbreakable

I liked Unbreakable too. I didn't see the ending coming at all. My friend complained that there wasn't any action. For one thing, it isn't exactly supposed to be Die Hard 4. Secondly, I loved what little action it had. I thought the seen where he frees the family was done nicely. Good use of music, and showing how tuff Bruce was.

Unfortunatly, I was spoiled of the ending to The 6th Sense, but I still liked it. In a way, it enhanced my viewing, because I was able to pick up on all the little things.

I can't wait for Signs to come out. It does seem difficult to have a twist on the ending. I just love the paranoid army guy in the previews.

I swear, where does this virulent hatred of Shyamalan's Films come from???

While most of the people on this board seem to be level-headed, I have met some people who absolutely, for no reason at all, hate his films. And they never give any good reasons to do so! (I guess it doesn't measure up to their expectations of their favorite films -> "American Pie 2", "Fast and the Furious", and other such "pinnacles" of film-making).

I personally think that Shyamalan is a master of directing, and his films far out-class any of the drivel that seems to be coming out more and more today. I look forward to seeing "Signs" and whatever other projects this young and talented director has in store for us.

Someone told me the twist at the end of Signs is...
    (highlight the following)

Mel and his family are all Aleins!

Ok, I really don't believe him. And actually sounds rather stupid. But I think he was just guessing endings... [face_plain]

I liked The Sixth Sense, and truthfully enjoyed Unbreakable even more than it.

I'm not sure what to expect from Signs, but I look forward to it.

Dan I can tell you with 100% certainty that is not the "twist". Like I said there really is no twist in this one. Its just a solidly written story who's climax comes at an appropriate time (you know like normal storys instead of the boil the story down to 5 min at the end.)

I think that was one of the things that bugged me most about Nights work originaly, it wasn't so much his stuff but much like the vastly overused bullet time every new movie thought "oh we'll just throw some twist out of left field at the end and everyone will love it".

I wasn't going to read what the "twist" might be, but after reading your post, weezer I decided to. That is just too dumb for words [face_laugh] No way can that be it.

Part of me, a huge part of me, wants a twist at the end. My head is screaming out, suprise me! Although, as long as the story is very good, we shouldn't need a twist.

Trust me Ramius you won't be disapointed. ;) [face_mischief]

Anyways why do you need a suprise twist when the entire movie is one shock after another.

Like I said... Someone I knew said thats what the ending should be.
And believe me! I had the same reaction you all did.
He just really wanted me to put that here to see if any of you heard the same.
(I don't even think he knows what he's talking about) ;)

And weezer , how do you know so much about Signs? ?[face_plain]

Now that Signs has come out, I guess this thread can be discussed more.

I just saw Signs, and all I can say is Wow! I really want to go see it again. I had read in several articles that the movie was about forgiving and redemption, and now I know why.

As I was walking out of the theater, two ladies in front of me were talking and I heard one say, "Well I guess they just didn't know how to end it." That isn't exactly what I was thinking. What was going through my head was,"gee, that was a really good ending."

This lady obviosly missed the point of the movie. It wasn't supposed to be all aliens and monsters. That's just what the plot centered around for Mel's character to come back and have faith again. That's the way I see it.

I think this was Shymalan's best film yet, IMO.

I also just saw Signs today.

It was really good. The performance of the characters was great. And the story was interesting.

I love the hole redemption and getting ones faith back in the story.

Though I did get frustrated a tiny bit. I really wanted to know what ws going on in the outside world as it was being, (uh.... I'm not sure if I should say it but the movie is out so it won't really be a spoiler) anyway, invaded. But I suppose that was the point of the movie, not knowing what was going on in a tight space.

And the climax reminded me of the best part of the climax of Unbreakable.

    Anyway, it was really good!

(I felt sorry for those dogs!) :(

Yeah, I agree. I didn't think about that until now. Very similar in some ways.

Anyone else notice how the title of the movie didn't even have anything to do with what it was being promoted as [crop circles]. Brilliant!

I was thinking the same thing, the title Signs doesn't really mean the crop circles but all the Signs of "god" or the signs of coincidence's... Or something like that...

Well, I just saw the movie this afternoon and I loved it. Humor in just the right places, suspense, and I loved how sounds played such an integral part in the film. Noises, whooshes, banging, it really got you ready for the next thing to happen. Mel Gibson was great. I hope he will work with M. Night again.
