Welcome to - Man Bites Dog - the zany headline game!

You are the editor of the Enquirer, a sensational news source. It?s your job to write headlines that not only snag the readers? attention, but also make sense.

How do I play?

Players will receive five cards at the beginning of each round. Each card contains a word or phrase in addition to a point value. Players use these cards to construct a headline that they post in the thread. Headlines can be funny or unusual, but must make sense. The points from each card used are added together. Players do not have to use all of their cards. A few lucky players may see an Exclusive card, which doubles the points of the headline. Note: If you receive the Exclusive card, you must use it to obtain the points.

All the cards return to the deck at the end of each round, it?s possible that someone will receive a card you played in the last round.

Examples of acceptable headline:
Urologist Runs Off With 340 LB Blonde Mob Boss - this one is using all 5 cards - "Runs Off With" comes on one card.
50 + 50 + 50 + 25 + 25 = 200 points!! Good luck trying to manage this in the game!
Blind Dog Weeps for Mayor - this one was created with 4 cards, "Weeps For" is on one card.
25 + 10 + 25 + 5 = 65 points would be your score for that round.
Psychic Tot Snubs Prez
25 + 25 + 5 + 25 = 80 points!

Vaccine Tells on Blonde
Tough Czar Slays Devoted Jewels

The Rules

1. If a player misses three rounds, they are out of the game.
2. Players can add up to three words in addition to the phrases on the cards (example: and, is, but). If more than three words are added, the headline is disqualified.
3. Players can add "s" or "'s" to the words on their cards.

The first player to reach 800 points is the winner and receive 24 hours of colors!

I have a few questions.

1. Are the headlines on the cards as well or do we make it up ourselves.

2. Also is the word count connected to the amount of cards you have?

3. Do you mean put the total score of the cards?

 

You will receive a set of words to arrange into a headline. You can arrange them however you want, as long as it makes sense. I will send you the score value of each card (example: Walks- 25) When you post your headline in the thread, you would put the total of the cards you used.

Example:
Man Falls in Sewer Drain

Man: 10
Falls: 20
Sewer: 50
Drain: 30

10 + 20 + 50 + 30=110

When you write the headlines, the idea is to use a short phrase. Headlines aren't usually a complete sentences. The cards you get are the words you should use. You do not have to use all the cards.
