I think it’s been pretty clear since the end of season 1 that Grogu will eventually become the new Mandal’or. I don’t know if that apostrophe is in the right place.

    Mand'alor :)

I'm curious about the fate of the Darksaber. Will it survive the series? If it is somehow destroyed, that would signal the beginning of a new era for Mandalore. One less focused on the way of the warrior, I would assume. No doubt, such a significant event would bring about significant change.
But even if the Darksaber does make it through the story intact, something is bound to change. Whoever unites Mandalore will want to do something about the clan wars that have been going on since time immemorial.

    That's my guess, at least.

It’s not my “issues” this time ;) - it’s my hope for a bit more “drama-distance” the Children of the Watch and the Mandalorians as a whole might go through, as indicated by how the “redemption” here is ceremonial and completely unrelated to real altruism/heroism, and how Din’s “sin” was taking his helmet off for Grogu’s sake.

*If* what we’re going to do with the Mandalorians is eventually show the Children of the Watch are “right” and have the majority of Mandalorian culture come around to their way of thinking - where, for shorthand, they lose any “cult” designation in the negative sense - than Bo should absolutely be the character that becomes Mandalore. The Mythosaur then becomes her “Meeting Jesus on the road to Damascus” moment, and the Creed’s dogma the sacred rites that have been neglected and “The Way,” as presented by the COTW right now, “The Way.”

After all, then the overall lesson of Bo’s life and the Mandalorians becomes that her initial believe that Mandalorians must be warriors was correct, she was just wrong about the type of warriors they should be - and the Children of the Watch are right to regard taking a helmet off as the worst sin a Mandalorian can commit, while many of the things they do violence for are acceptable or even laudable.

…But if the idea is that “The Way” needs to become something different than what all the power players have seen it as before, than Din makes the most sense for that because he hasn’t been a power player yet, but also wasn’t around for the time when traditionalists decided to betray their world to overthrow pacifists.

I also again think that - in a dramatic sense - everyone would benefit from discovering that the The Way needs to be reformed, and in that scenario, Din benefits the most from being the reformer, while Bo and others benefit more form being the reformed.

Din and Bo as co-rulers. Each is well-suited to cover for the weak aspects of the other. Her education compensates for his apparently limited home-schooling; her terrorist history is countered by his reputation as an honorable CotW.

    • I think it's going to be Bo Katan. She's the princess. She saw the Mythosaur. When she uses the darksaber it's not heavy in her hand like it is for Din.
    • I'm not the kind of person who ships people, but I'm not going to be shocked if Din and Bo end up as a pair. They're growing closer. And...
    • Bo is starting to act maternal toward Grogu. She was helping him get ready for his foundling duel in the last episode. Strapped on his whistling bird cuff.
    • Grogu will outlive them both and if they're his adoptive parents then he's a Mandalorian prince and a Jedi. He could be the heir and hold the Mandalore title for centuries.
