ST Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) In Episode IX

So Episode IX title means VIII was just an unpleasant dream for Rey which she shared with Kylo?

Or J.J. is trolling the fandom...

Or nothing at all.

As far as Mark, have Talus suit up and knock the snot out of the First Order. That character needs to be in more than Knightfall.

 

Just keeping it real. Need some people in the IX criticism thread.

 

Why do you need a criticism thread when the film isn't even out?

 

It was a joke. I am really not even mad about little Luke in the movie. After what was done in TFA and TLJ, I actually would prefer no Luke at all. I was just commenting that the trailer immediately goes out of its way to dispel one of any notion that Luke has a large role in this movie.

 

Nothing wrong with a criticism thread for any news that comes out.

As for Luke fans, they have plenty of reason to gnash their teeth. I'm happy for Luke to have a minimal role in E9 because I'm afraid what else they might do to him.

 

Odd that this title confirms that utter and complete end of Luke Skywalker. Or odd that everyone so readily takes it that way.

 

The trailer revealed next to nothing about Luke's screen time in the film...

I like Luke's lines though. It sounds like he and the other Force Ghosts have taught Rey some stuff.

 

There's going to be an awful lot of people who'll read into the title and believe it means Luke will be resurrected, they will be hugely disappointed when that doesn't happen.

 

Except apparently Luke is being resurrected according to a recent leak...

 

I've waited over 30 years. I don't care if he has 20 seconds screen time. As long as he's being an epic jedi hero in that time, I will be happy

 

TBF that well renowned youtuber Mr 0 had said Luke was being resurrected for the last 7 or 8 months.

Thinking about the title:

Skywalker could be several things:

Kylo
Rey
The new name for the Jedi order
Luke

None of the above.

I’d love to see Luke be Luke too, but I cannot get my hopes up or down.

 

They have narration from Luke in the trailer, I'd bet he'll be in the film one way or another...

Resurrecting the dead seems kind of like a sith thing to do... The jedi don't fear death or try to alter it's natural process, they rejoice it..

 

It's the purpose of the resurrection that should count, a Sith may do it out of greed for more life or to inflict hurt on someone. But if a Jedi Is resurrected to save someone he loves or to end a tyranny so powerful and so evil that no other could, then that would be an act of selflessness and that isn't against the teachings of the Jedi.

 

Resurrection isn't necessarily a darkside thing (e.g., Jesus). Either in TCW series or in the ROTS screenplay/book, Yoda speculates about the possibility of it, IIRC.

The teaser gave me the impression that Luke's role as teacher to Rey is mostly done, although he'll remain a presence for her.

But if MSW thinks Luke is physically returning -- sign me up.

In fact, I'd become a lifetime JJ fan.

Folks, if Luke returns physically and there's also more to Rey's parents, then JJ is officially blowing off TLJ.

It was actually MSW speculating so not really a leak, unfortunately, although Jason did mention during the same podcast he knew more about the film than he has revealed and hinted more would be coming post-celebration.
