That might be anticlimactic given that that source was locked behind the gate until minutes before it’s death.

    Well, I see
    Morris

And Meng’er Zheng is back with more delightful comments about her Shang-Chi cast mates.

I am fine waiting close to 18 months to see Black Widow, but waiting another 30 plus days to see Shang-Chi is just painful.

Tony Leung is just fantastic. Marvel really made me mad with that Iron Man 3 switch a-awhile back. Boy did they make up for it.

I think I have Shang Chi as a Top 5 or Top 6 MCU flick. I think some films I rank below it have better stories, but this flick is the complete package because it has arguably the best action and a top 3 villain/antagonist for the franchise.

Meng’er Zhang shared more delightful Behind the scenes pictures/thoughts on her Shang-Chi castmates.

I saw something on Disney’s social media last week that implies Shang-Chi won’t premiere on D+ until Friday November 12 (D+ day), but that post seems to have vanished so…[face_dunno]

It's November 12th; it's on the app last I checked with that date.

That's also my annual D+ renewal date so it'll basically be the most expensive D+ movie premiere ever hahaah

Can you not subscribe for more than one year at a time?

    There have been rumbles that
Tony Leung might be brought back.

D+ had a special D23 preorder offer that was for a 3 year membership before they launched (I forget the specifics since it’s been so long since I paid for it but it averaged out to something like $4 a month).

I don’t think they’ve offered anything more than one year since then, though. It probably allows them to more easily adjust prices when necessary or push the D+/Hulu/ESPN+ bundle, etc.

Plus, now that they have content coming out more regularly (and have a huge install base), they don’t need to entice new subscribers during an initial launch window content drought like they did before.

Darn. Bummed I didn’t jump on that three year intro price. This is one subscription I do not mind paying for since we use it almost daily. That said, I hope we’ll see a Phase Four blu ray set including the D+ series. I’ll still subscribe to D+, but I want hard copies too (I’d happily sell the movies/series I do not want.)

Well, maybe this thread will pick up again once Shang-Chi hits D+…in seven weeks. [face_sigh]

Shang Chi just dropped on D+ (U.K.). I thought I’d give the Abomination bit a rewatch, but for now I think the movie has broken the streaming service

My boy Klev stole the show.
    Amazing movie.
Best fight scenes since The Winter Soldier imo.
    Several wonderful cameo's.
The credit teasers have me curious.

I am not sure how to feel about this one. Given the story they had, they did a decent job. Or at least, if we exclude the last 15 minutes. But everything also hangs on a premise that is very difficult to believe. Why did that couple get together? One sexy karate fight is all it took to make her fond of the someone that was actively invading and trying to destroy her home? While it makes sense for him to have developed affection for her, there was very little rationale for things to have flowed in the other direction. Separating this out from the difficulties with the end of the movie, it creates real challenges to buying into this story.

I laughed at how they just instantly started smiling and getting all aroused by the kung fu. It's more symbolic than human; the graceful, compassionate woman taming the aggressive man's hard, conquering style with her yielding soft style. Yin and yang. With her, he gives up his power and tries to leave peacefully. When she's killed, he picks up his weapons in revenge and returns to a life of violence and conquest.

yeah, I rolled my eyes when they started batting eyes at each other in the middle of the fight lol

and I’m getting kind of tired of the family drama taking up so much of the central storyline of some of these marvel films, it seems more like just an excuse for one character to have a fight scene with the other

but anyways the martial arts choreography was pretty decent, and I liked the cast a lot

overall a pretty fun film and I’m pretty curious to see how they include the character into the rest of the MCU

Watched it this evening. Could've been in the upper echelon of the MCU if it weren't for Simu Liu being a total charisma vacuum. Watching him act opposite Tony Leung is like watching a four year-old try to put up a fight against Muhammad Ali at his prime.

Watched this today. I liked the imax enhancement a lot! Is this temporary? I’d be pissed off if they charge more for this.

As for the movie itself…I ll have to let it sit with me but for now I’m meh. Way to drawn out fight scenes. I’m looking forward to seeing where these characters go but this was a meh origin film for me on 1st view.

The whole bus fight was almost identical to Kramer’s story:

I was waiting and waiting for Shang-Chi to kick Razorfist out the door at the next stop.

My brother hasn't seen it yet so we'll need to watch it soon.

Of course we also need to watch Dune before it goes off HBO (I know you should see it in theaters but I can't due to medical stuff this week).

I am excited to watch this one again soon though.
