You're right though. Did you look at the leaked plans for the Falcon model? It's smaller for sure. Probably for distance shots.

Perhaps the Falcon has a smaller Falcon inside of it?

I just figured out why Han won't have the Falcon at the beginning of the film... It's been infested with Gizkas and he's having someone exterminate them!

    Someone get the Gizka poison!

I just love popping into threads at the last few posts, not reading the dozens of bloated pages that appeared since I was around and seeing stuff like this totally out of context.

Sounds like the planet where we've seen the Falcon docked in the concept art.

I love the fact the pitch of the engines changes as it performs that maneuver. Adds a little bit to the experience.

Has there been any discussion about the memo from Abrams, where he denies that the Falcon is in this one?

Was there a joke in there somewhere, and are we only now in a position to "get it"?

We need a thread where folks can post links to satire. It's annoying to click a link that leads to disappointment.

I thought it was well worth the click. A good laugh is never a disappointment to me and that was pretty damn funny.

If it's the same note I'm thinking of, it was a joke, because the note itself is sitting on the Falcon's holochess board.

Lucasfilm’s special effects division, Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), worked with Fortune to create both the cover and opening photograph in the story, an inside look at the innovative technologies used across Disney’s diverse businesses and brands. The collaboration started with our photo shoot with CEO Iger earlier this month in New York. The photos were then turned over to ILM to, well, work their magic. Not surprisingly, the secretive division was mum about the exact process for creating the realistic shot of Iger standing right on set, casually leaning against a chunk of metal (the image seen in the opening pages of the story).
As for the cover shot, Yannick Dusseault, visual effects art director for The Force Awakens, and his team gave Fortunesix options showing the Falcon in different ways. The resulting image required the custom rendering of ILM’s computer generated Falcon. According to ILM, the fabled ship was rendered in wireframe form (a skeletal version) as well as a more layered “textured render,” which were combined in Photoshop to create the final image.
The resulting cover is one Fortune founder Henry Luce probably couldn’t have imagined over eight decades ago. But whether you read the story online or in print, the mashup of Iger and the iconic spacecraft is emblematic of the times: Like all entertainment companies, Disney, which has been around even longer than Fortune, has had to out-innovate itself time and time again. As the lines between technology and pretty much everything else blur, even cutting-edge ILM has had to constantly up its game. The updated Falcon—and our cover—is a testament to thatevolution.

Looks kind of photoshopped, but if it's the Falcon they build for the film, it truly looks majestic.
