I just rewatched the scene, and Hera really doesn’t mention any of that. The closest she does is mention that she has a feeling that there is a larger operation tied to the long believed deceased Grand Admiral Thrawn and that she wants an approval for a task force to go investigate. She doesn’t cite any evidence.

Mon Mothma says that she was understanding that the facility is closed and that an investigation will be under way.

Hera makes no direct mention of putting a tracker on the ship, and it’s unclear if that was ever mentioned in any kind of briefing that Mon Mothma may have received ahead of time.

I would also argue that in the real world there are a lot of international crimes that people are allowed to get away with to prevent escalation into war.

Not to mention the fact that with the size of Hera's fleet...which I am assuming is not the entire NR fleet...it would not be an issue to break off 4-6 ships to investigate Seatos.

Realistically i think it is safe to assume she filed a report stating what happened at the shipyard. But I do think those broad points should have been mentioned.

And even if they don't want to believe Thrawn may be alive...or indulge Hera's desire to find Ezra...then they would have to at least acknowledge that a task force should be sent to Seatos to investigate the theft of a SSD hyperdrive core.

And they may have. IMO it’s comparable to the TF wanting a committee to be appointed to investigate the invasion of Naboo, and Padme saying that’s not good enough and taking matters into her own hands.

The bureaucracy is slow, and we as the audience knew that something needed to be done about Naboo immediately, and the bureaucracy is depicted as this slow, corrupt, and ineffective thing that isn’t as effective as strong centralized leadership.

Similarly, we as the audience know that Thrawn is a threat and we know what the villains are up to and that time is of the essence. But the Senate doesn’t. Mon Mothma says that there will be further investigation. But that’s not good enough, and Hera to take military supplies right now to go stop a larger plot involving Thrawn, a guy believed to be long dead and who is tied to Ezra.

Xiono’s comments further suggest that such requests are not a new thing from Hera and that she has a history of allocating resources towards finding Ezra. In return, Hera makes a personal attack on Xiono’s loyalty. In the end, Hera disobeying orders got people killed and achieved nothing.

Mon Mothma is failing as leader of a fractured New Republic.

Because she only saw the galactic civil war as a means of restoring the old republic which went so well last time

Even in books in Republic and Empire, she seems naive at times that frustates Padme and Leia.

Though, let’s say that, hypothetically, O’Reilly makes another appearance after Hera gets decommissioned… and pulls an Andor and starts supplying Hera and other with the resources to create a proto-Resistance…

I think that Republic-aligned forces are *going* to get involved in the Filoni film in some way. And arguably, in spite of her earlier role of being the naive idealist compared to Leia, Mon Mothma has now spent more screentime being a clandestine intriguer than not thanks to Andor.

I don’t necessarily think of this as a speculation point, but more a hypothetical possibility.

She goes all Valorum and does what's best for the Republic via secret relationships outside of Senate approval.

I still want to find out what the **** happened to Valorum. I know in legends he died. But canon we still don’t know. Last we heard his name mentioned was as recently as Andor.

I would find it poetic if he helped the rebellion on some way.

Mon Mothma used to think that marrying off her daughter to a gangster was the hardest thing she had to do until she had to work with the nitwits in the New Republic.

The U.S. House can't even keep the government funded, so the New Republic is just verisimilitude.

Hope that after Mothma's private talk with Hera the former will decide to finaly actively help the latter ... so that this help will be destroyed by returned Thrawn.

The depictions of Mon Mothma dealing with the Imperial senate on Andor were so much better than her scenes with the New Republic senate on Ahsoka. The New Republic scenes were very cartoonish, (which I guess makes sense considering that Ahsoka was basically a live action season of Rebels), whereas Mothma's scenes addressing the Imperial senate were much more heartbreaking and dramatic, which is kinda funny because on Andor she's basically addressing a wide shot of a bunch of CGI images versus actually being surrounded by real actors on Ahsoka.

Agreed. Mon struggled a lot in Andor. Plus, she had her moments, particularly when she used her husband to trick the spy. But my favorite scene was her arguing with Luthen over his methods. That's me sometimes. Gotta cry, breathe in, and then go back to being tough.

I like how she said she learned from Palpatine. Plus, she brought soldiers in and founded this Rebellion.

But, yeah. Totally agree, Mustache. That Ahsoka scene was cute. I liked it because of 3PO, but it was a bit silly. Ha ha.

The contrast between the presentation of power and politics between Andor and Ahsoka is stark. Consequently, Mon's characteristics don't shine in Ahsoka, whereas she is brilliantly alive in Andor (and going through all sorts).

In Andor she has great interactions with other characters' motives and actions. In Ahsoka, she has poorly scripted interactions with caricatures.

Genevieve is brilliant in both so I hope we see Mon portrayed better in other series, not just Andor S2.

I have high hopes for Andor S2, not least of which will be spending time with a return-to-dramatic-form for Mon and Genevieve.

Did anyone else get the impression that Mon Mothma seemed to entertain quite a bit of "lack of decorum," in her role as Chancellor, during the series? She had a senator borderline yelling at her on multiple occasions, Hera seemed overly casual with her...I mean, I just got the impression in previous films that the Chancellor of the main form of government in the galaxy should've been met with a bit more...formality-and perhaps...reverence? No one would've dared talk to Palpatine like that...Even Anakin didn't, really.

I suppose if it were simply chalked up to "Mon Mothma is just more of a personable Chancellor, and better at not seeming 'unapproachable and above the people'," then I could accept that. I could even accept the idea that she was practicing more of a "King Arthur-style" round table sort of situation, where he and his knights treated eachother as equals...But I guess I was surprised at the lack of formality and respect she was recieving from several of her colleagues. She behaved the same way in Rogue One, but back then she was only one of a few would-be leaders of the Rebel Alliance. Now she's much more than that; a Chancellor, not just a fellow senator.
