Amph Netflix's "The Witcher" (based on the famed video game series) Now with less Cavill

Probaly to expand of the theives in the book, hope its decent.

 

Luckily I have a Netflix executive here to explain their rationale:


Mind you I don’t actually think they’re right about this being a good way to do that.

 

But…are they actually making money off of these expensive spin-offs of a show not that many people like?

 

I mean, the theory is literally that they need to constantly produce these shows to maintain their subscriber base while incentivizing new subscribers with a large pool of shows, so... yes, because their debt is amortized? I don't think they're barking up a particularly useful tree even from that point of view, though; who the **** is sticking with or signing up for Netflix to watch this one? Anyone who's bought in on this would happily just take more regular-ass Witcher.

 

All I ever wanted was a decent, faithful adaptation of the Witcher books. But now I've resigned myself to never getting that.

 

Theres some books based on this tv show you might like better.

 

I think a decent adaption will happen with bunch of stuff added on. We know wexare getting book storytelling in here from both books.

This June? I thought it was more of a fall/winter show, especially with the prequel show that just came out a few months ago.

 

So uhhhh, theres an interview where the showrunners are saying that switching the leads is a “Meta” reason and i am not down with this.

Not sure if it’ll be worse or super worse than not acknowledging it.

 

They're going to do a Doctor Who style regeneration aren't they?

all of this just leads me even more into the vein that they should just do an animation telling of the novels

 

Season 3 came out a few hours ago (well the first half of Season 3).

 

I go tone more episode to go. This is one dysfunctional family. They have yo make up a lot. A lot of parties are closing in on Ciri and there is a huge political situation building as Yennefer plays a double role of teacher and politician.

 

Just finished. I feel like there were some missing scenes in there.

 

It kinda jumped the shark, didn't it ? Are they following the books or just making up things along the way ?

Honestly I think it was stronger than Season 2, and I heard it's very book-accurate here too (more so than Season 2). But I feel some transitions were rushed. Or at least one in particular.

Like Ciri finally meets Yennefer's comrades... and then she's immediately serving girl in the next scene... and then she's already run away and is being chased by the Wild Hunt and Geralt has already caught up with her again? Like, how much time passed there? How did Yennefer just let her run away? And Geralt finds her so quickly and easily?

To a lesser extent, whatever was going on with the Queen of Redania, I feel like a scene was skipped there. As well as rushing Yennefer being welcomed back, again, to Aretuza. Or the Elves so quickly finding then losing Ciri, and being so quick to violence against the guardians of their supposed savior.

 

Thanks to the password sharing block I can’t access my sister’s account anymore on anything other than my phone on most days. I won’t watch this on the phone but I did just get on to check if it was out and saw it only had 5 episodes. That seems rather weird.

 

The second half comes out in a month.

 

Also weird.
