Too many distractions. Wrestling is another big one for me! I took the grandbabies to their first live matches two weeks ago or so. TT is shouting for Gino Rivera, top heel in the small company of Championship Wrestling from AZ. Seems she like the bad guys just like I do!!

Off Road. Now there's a game I haven't played in a long time. I remember the joy of finally beating my brother by stocking up on an insane amount of nitro and hitting it the entire race (the straightaways, anyway). Blew him away.

Man, I forgot all about Clayfighter. Jeez. What a crazy game. A pissed off snowman as the game's mascot.

I remember the first Tony Hawk games on PS1. I wasn't into skateboarding, but they were such well made games that I ended up sinking plenty of hours into them, anyway.

That's a high bar you're setting for future grandparents, @J-Rod. My grandfather took me with him to pick up cattle feed and once dropped me off in a field to harvest ochre. Once he dropped me off at a neighbor's farm to help them load watermelons into the back of a pickup truck.

That's reminded me of Super Off Road Racer, much enjoyed on my Amiga.

By the way, IT was terrifying! I love that movie!

Tony Hawk was the first game that I waited in line for on release day. My nephew Zach and I beat every one up to THUG 2!

It's cool that you played the same games! Retro gaming is really picking up!

yeah I had them , they were brilliant and really addictive . There was something really authentic about the gravity in them . Some games have that sluggish heavy feel to them .

Off Road and Rampage were old arcade reliables for my brother and I. When none of the other games looked good, we knew we could depend on Off Road and Rampage.

I don't remember Stunt Race FX, but the name reminded me of F-Zero X, and the original F-Zero. Man, I remember the first time I played F-Zero. I was pretty good at racing games. I crashed. Hard. Repeatedly. Took me a while to adjust to the speed of it.

Stunt Race FX has the FX chip in it that Starfox did. It's a fun polygon based cartoon style racer. Awesome back them but does hold up as well as I'd like. I still love it tho!

Been playing F-Zero on the SNES Mini!! So great! Mode 7!

I think my favorite use of Mode 7 is still FFIII/VI once you got in the airship. Really gave it the sensation of your suddenly hurtling along way faster than you travelled on foot.

    Ahhh, F-Zero... :D

(I was a proud owner of a SNES on release day :p )

    EDIT -

Don't remember which came earlier - I think it was Secret of Mana, though, which used Mode 7 on its overland map and allowed a flight mode. It was awesome.

I was a Genesis guy. I got a SNES about 6 months before the PlayStation came out. I still prefer the Gennie, but no doubt the SNES felt more professional and clean.

Going back a little further, I have a memory of this game on the Commodore 64, but haven't been able to remember the name, if I even knew it. Maybe one of you did, bezzies.

In the game you're flying a jet into the screen, collecting fuel and boosts along the way, shooting enemies (possibly) with the ultimate goal of reaching a black tower which you then try and destroy.

I think it was a real game, and not a fever dream.

No, not Gyruss. In this you were going over a planet's surface. Nice guess though.

With regards to professional-looking consoles, the NEO-GEO was utterly unaffordable over here...

Another older game for old times' sake (and my favorite as a rather small kid): Time Bandit.

To be fair, it was an actual arcade chip set. $700 at launch, If I remember right.

The Panasonic 3DO was also $700! I had one of those after it came down to $400. LOL! Road Rash was awesome on it!

They made Might & Magic, possibly the best of the old-school first person dungeon crawling games (that's right, come at me Wizardry stans).

    So, Leaving Neverland.
Anybody chucked out their Michael Jackson memorabilia yet?
    Did he do it?
I'm mainly just wondering is if the director Dan Reed is the Dan Reed of Dan Reed Network fame.
